  • We dive into that tiny truck hole again in this video. We talk about the good and what my thoughts on it are. This will have multiple videos before a review from me. Its BS to remove a Truck from its box and give a full review 5 minutes later. I give my initial thoughts in this video. Its possible they will change as time goes on but time will tell.
Edit. I forgot to mention the spur gear assembly is plastic where I would have liked to see aluminum.
    Enjoy the video.

You were SPOT ON on all points! The good and bad.
I see Aluminum Center Supports in the near future. That Bearing tip is extremely useful. 👍👍
Personally, from what I've seen, they used a little too much soft Plastic. We agree. Maybe to increase durability at the cost of stiffness - and more brittle. We won't know yet, until they provide disclosure.
I believe it's an outstanding entry into a HIGHLY competitive Market! Pricing is a little high, maybe they're trying to recover some development costs...
What I do know about Associated, having raced for Team Associated in the 80's...
Their Philosophy, examine the Market, the Trends *carefully,* then swoop in and dominate.
They studied Buggies for 3 years, all over the World, before releasing the first RC10!! And that's STILL legendary. And back then, after that, Losi, Yokomo and Schumacher were giving them stiff competition!
They waited, researched, then released another World Beating Buggy.
It APPEARS that Element is following the Formula, but with more variables now!
"Trail Trucks" are so many different things to different People. It's hard to tap into.
I really think that for a Freshman effort, they did a great job!
Now, I'm going on a culmination of several Reviews, Big Channel, Small Channel, private and business.
I really wish I could afford one. But that's my life now...
From what I've seen from you so far, I'm pulling for you to find some good options and upgrades for this!! 😉 You did a killer job on the Gen 8.
    I'll be watching!

Thank you for your video on this great machine. It's a builders kit and it has many options for add on's. Thank you for your tips and suggestions on this kit. And you answered a lot of my questions on this kit. And I agree its a great machine to build. And I will enjoy building mine as well.

Not that long winded my friend. And you do have some excellent points that I fully agree with.
Yes, the brace up front (under the battery tray) can also be used in the rear to help stiffen the chassis as well as using the "hard" parts. At this point I have spent $100+ for all the hard plastic parts (agree that they should cost pennies more to make) and another $40 for steels balls (for links and shocks). Still adding inner fenders ($23) with a used Protoform Chevy K10 pickup body that fits very well. Should be out testing this crawler tomorrow. Will be interesting to see what "heavy" parts are offered in the future. Can say that Don in Customer Services at Element did give me great guidance about typos and issues in the Instruction Manual before I started my build. Called him back after just to thank him.

Do have a special front bumper coming from ScalerFab in Colorado. Their front bumpers offer better approach angles.

i finished mine last friday, and still unsure if mine is ok. When I close the case, I can't move the axles by hand, even before tightening the screws. After seeing this, I'm now thinking if the bearing is on the correct place, or something is sligthly off, and that's just metal against plastic :(

Is there an advantage to choosing this over the rtr? Besides being able to choose your own electronics? Everything looks pretty much the same unlike axials kits vs rtr's.

    • @axletwisterrc4526
      @axletwisterrc4526  5 ปีที่แล้ว

The Kit does have advantages. The shocks on the kit are all aluminum including the bottom spring retainers. However the bottom spring retainers aren't that impressive because they dont do a good job of keeping the spring centered in place. The transmission is also different since it has machined gears. The RTR has sintered metal gears and plastic gears on the outputs. The kit trans is going to be extremely durable in comparison however it comes at a price because the kit trans is heavy with all that metal. The kit also comes with links to make the different wheel bases. Thanks for watching and if I can be of any other help please feel free to ask.
