    Bruno you're really lucky. I have three children and when I have taken them up in a glider all three have very quickly felt sick. To quote one of them, 'the trouble with gliding is you spend a long time waiting around, then you go up in the glider which could be fun but you immediately feel sick'. When I took my daughter up in a motorglider she said 'I enjoyed it until you switched off the engine'. Flying up that mountain looked wonderful.

    What a wonderful video with your daughter Bruno. Brings back memories of when I got my license at 16 back in the late 70’s, and couldn’t wait to take up every member of my family, friends, etc. I was very fortunate to do my soaring back then at Black Forest Gliderport, which sadly closed in the late 80’s. It was an amazing place.
    I still remember the excitement of introducing those who didn’t know the first thing about gliders to the world of soaring. I think what I enjoyed most was taking friends of mine who had their single-engine ratings up in a sailplane, and then listening to their shock that we didn’t just fall out of the sky and have to land immediately. The two things that always surprised them were the aerodynamic performance, and how close we flew to other sailplanes in thermals. I have to admit that it was pretty satisfying to watch their young pilot cockiness disintegrate when faced with an aircraft they didn’t understand, and that blew their minds. I also enjoyed showing them that rudder pedals are not just footrests.
    Thank you so much for all of your videos. I haven’t flown in years, and have been living vicariously through the videos, but I am really thinking about getting current again. I miss it terribly.

      @@kvvint7618 I don't expect you to understand. Ironically, you miss the point entirely. As did she. Did you, or she, notice the GoPro camera recording the entire flight perhaps ? But hey, it's far better to be vacuous, facile and narcissistic in the pursuit of likes than to enjoy the actual experience. The overwhelming number of comments here are about her fixation on the phone. It says something about your point of view.

      Reminds me of a cartoon I saw in a magazine. The family was overlooking Niagara falls, and the father says "Hurry up! Just take the photo and we can go see some more. We can look at the photos when we get back home!"

    • @kvvint7618
      @kvvint7618 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@speedbird8326 I'm pretty sure I got it. But interesting to see how much you can read into her using her phone.
      Yeah sure, people in her generation (same generation as me btw :)) are using her their phone and social media a lot. Some use it more, some less. When I fly with guests on their first flight, they often have their phone out recording and taking pictures, even if there is a gopro recording. No matter the age... But the thing is that I keep my mouth shut about it unless there is a safety issue with them recording... It's their choice. And just like Ashley, if she wants to record it and share it with her friends immediately, there should be no one telling her otherwise.
      You say it like she didn't care about the flight. I say she thought it's so cool flying with her dad that she had to share it with her friends...

      Yes he had his license taken away after performing at an airshow. th-cam.com/video/QwK9wu8Cxeo/w-d-xo.html This link has the story, or type in Bruno Gliding Ban.

    Great video. I fly with a whole bunch of nieces and goddaughters all the time. I have a few vids on my channel too of that. My oldest niece that's been flying with me since she was 5 just got her pilot's license!!! She's working hard on her flying career. Thanks for sharing!!!

    Great to see you sharing your love of gliding with your family Bruno. Both my teenage daughters have been up with me... the older is now a qualified glider pilot herself... and the younger is eager to learn (she loves thermaling to cloud base almost as much as she loves aerobatics). Now even my wife wants to learn!

    Nice Bruno. My dad took me for my first gliding flight (ES 52 Kooaburra) way back when I was a baby in the 60s. I was fortunate enough to take him for his last flight a few years ago and he took the video this time. Hardly anybody sees the video but his final and all his footage much of it 8mm from the 60s and 70s is on my channel.

    I got a tandem ride once,I loved it but when we first cut loose he banked to starboard 90° and I wasn't expecting it so I said "Whoa!" and then he just flew straight and level back down. I should've spoken up and told him I was fine,which I was. Glider port N. of Ft. Collins,no lift that day anyway.

    Great to have you back. No experience is an experience any longer unless you point your phone at it! I get that people want to snap a few shots. Fine. But personally I would allow two quick photo sessions, one on the ground and a quick session in the air after which phones should be securely placed in a zipped pocket. They are in the category unsecured "loose objects" that if dropped could jam the controls. At least that would be my excuse......
