Really informative video Robert. After watching this I'm going to do a picture using just charcoal, pastel & pencil to create a light & dark picture.

Wonderful! Some company found a way to make charcoal very expensive (with all sort of accessories ) I'll stick with my super cheap and fantastic. charcoal. Just like every other stuff these days, ppl buy things they don't need to look a little cool to others. To me, it looks so sad. As for the artwork above, it's beautiful

Joe HARB I would suggest you take a look at characteristics of a product. It’s easy to simple generalize preconceived expectations. Can an artist make who makes great work with Nitram make it with other types of Charcoal. However, the same could be said about any craft. Could an NBA player still play to their status quo with a pair of cheap, basic shoes? Of course. However, anything that gets you a better performance can always be highly regarded in any craft. Nitram is more expensive, but their sticks do not wear down nearly as fast as other standard willow and vine charcoal. Check out their website, read their story and process. If it’s not for you, that’s all good as well. Either way, it’s all about the craft.

@@dougdabbs8155 update: I looked for a relatively long time to find your reply and give an overdue update on nitram. I watch many many artists on yt). I previously bought nitram to try and it was a seller that charges triple the price. ($21 per 5 5mm pack). Luckily I got introduced to a new seller and got all the nitram packs for around $8.7 a pack. I am so glad I did. Thank you for ur comment and have a cool day. I am far from being an arist but I love sketching and drawing portraits from imagination. Nitram with the right charcoal paper works amazing.
