    Very cool to take this virtual drive again! I left Easton in 1982, but the drive from downtown all the way to the 1818 Tavern was very familiar. I lived in Palmer just a little further behind The 1818. Looks just about the same still!

    I want to thank you for doing this video. I learned that my Seifert/Ohneberg G-G-Grandparents came to Easton from states in what is now Germany, found each other, married and had a daughter before moving on to Missouri. I have been reading all I can about the history. So going with you on this drive was like sitting in the passenger side of your car and having you drive me around. This was a great Sunday drive.

    I used to lve in Easton from 2001 to 2009 and I sort of liked that town without much character. I enjoyed watching your video all the way and finding all these restaurants, bars, delis, etc i used to go. Bet you filmed while i was there because the gas station on northampton and 23rd (i think) is no longer on Mobil brand, and a car 's license plate started with "E" and so did my Subaru. Thanks for posting.

    Good food at Uncle Wesley's and Frinzi's (The Friendliest Place in Town), not so good food at the LD. I also remember a place called Eddie's but I forget where it was. They had Italian style tripe. Used to drink at the College Hill Tavern, a guy named Bob ran it with his wife. Gassed up at Grube's Gulf on Cattell St. I see Jim's Doggies is still there- heartburn specials. There was a bar in P'burg next to Jim's, forget what it was called. Lots of good memories from the late 60's and 70's.

      I remember all of those places. The Wardell was next to Jimmy's and the Box Car after that.

    Your turn onto Rt 248 by the 25th Street shopping center IS NOT Northampton Street!!! Northampton Street continues straight thru the light and 248 is a different road. AND you are correct when you say Easton was a much nicer town in the 1950s!

    QUESTION(S) : What's the name of those signals at 3:01 without the yellow arrow? Do they even use them anymore?
    Also : Why is the hospital so bad? I've heard some not so great things about them.
    And when was that Palmer Township Railroad removed?

    • @RickMammana
      @RickMammana  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ryan Blanche I'm not sure about the signals. And I just don't like hospitals. I think the railroad tracks in Palmer were removed in the early 80s.

    • @RYMAN1321
      @RYMAN1321 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rick Mammana I don't think so. I can vaguely remember them still there in the late 90's. You mean the one that went by the bakery and Pfizer? And also near Bushkill Park?

      Rob Goodheart That could be fun, but I'm not sure if they would let me record inside. Some businesses are funny that way. I've already been told about it in wegmans, a dollar store and Burger King. I guess they were afraid of what I might see? Haaa

    • @Teabagz4fun
      @Teabagz4fun 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rick Mammana So long as we're not badmouthing the place, I don't think there would be a problem at all. Buy a couple cigars, chow down on an awesome burger or cut of prime rib, paired with a craft beer or scotch/whiskey (they have tons)...

    Your commentary was very unsatisfying ... you point out a pizza place and an auto repair place but you make no mention (although you pass it) the Bachmann Tavern a very historic colonial era tavern visited by Ben Franklin, the Crayola "Experience" Factory - Easton's claim to fame is Crayola Crayons, or even Porter's Pub which is well known throughout the state for it's artisan brews. The place was gritty and run down in years past, but it is making a comeback. There is a new indoor Market which is like a mini-version of Philly's Reading Terminal.
