  • Swingin' Easton Pa 1940s - Mingle right in with the 1940s crowd! Take a history tour with the folks of 1940s Easton Pennsylvania. From various 16mm films, some badly worn but worth watching anyway.

That was very good. Thank you to the person who shot it and thanks for sharing on You Tube. This was probably shot in late 1949 or early 1950. I did see a few 1950 cars.

@4:58 is my grandmother, Kathryn (thatcher)Snyder. She was the cashier at Thatcher's Arcade for many Years. We would go shopping there in the 50's when I was a child. My father and uncles worked at the fish market there. Such a cool memory for me to view this. Thank you for posting it.

My dad grew up in Easton. I haven’t been there in decades and my childhood memories are of their farm. I didn’t realize it was a large city even when he was a child. I wish he was still here to watch this with.

Some of the footage is actually early 50’s based on cars. My mothers aunts and uncles mostly lived in Easton and P-burg.

At 1:35 there is a 1950 chevy and a 1950 ford. Maybe they vane out in late 1949, but pedestrians are wearing short sleeve shirts.

Nancy Rutman This is actually a collection of various old films. The bulk of the video was filmed by a local historian, William Carling and his 16mm movie camera. Many people are glad he took the time and $$$ back then to film this. Please check my youtube page here for more films like this.

Such a place, my grandparents immigrated from Italy through Elis Island and moved to Easton. I remember the early 1960’s like these images. Today, well sorry, everyone is wanting a hand out, and become some type of woke victim - the city has degreased…. The greatest generation has lots of history for us to learn from.
