Agreed! For Snyders film, I really wanted a world's finest similar to the animated version when Superman and Batman had to fight against Lex Luther and Joker. The dialogue was smart and story interesting.
Superman and Batman are better as friendly rivals who trust each other just enough to take one down if they ever decided to go rogue. I like it when they have a "trust, but verify," attitude towards one another.
I think James Gunn would've benefited from making his DC universe more like this. Make it super comic book esque and have all the characters and costumes look like Alex Ross artwork. I feel like people would be more interested and willing to give it a chance if it was way different and unique to everything we've seen before. it would also help people forget about the unfinished Zack Snyder universe.
