- I loved every minute of research I did for Belphegor he's a demon a lot of ppl over look or simplified to the point no audience would actually care about him character wise I already knew based off Lucifer, Ozzie and Mammon we wouldn't see him or see a reference to him as ppl prefer the more popular sins but I still think Belphegor and the sloth ring could have been amazing one day im gonna make something just for him but for now this is all I got

I would’ve made Sloth a snowy climate because that would imply the ring is so lazy it doesn’t even bother trying to be warm like the rest of Hell.
I’m aware that in Dante’s inferno the part that is actually cold is the lowest layer where Lucifer is trapped in ice, but in that story there were also 9 circles and they were going down not up. So, it’s not a big deal.

You know you could fit all the sins into one giant city with different districts (pride as city hall, greed as the commercial district, lust a red light districting, sloth a massive university campus, wrath as the countryside outside the city. Not sure what gluttony and envy would be though) and it would probably be more cohesive and more visually interesting then the current seven rings.

@@_SPQR_ personally I feel like the ritch area should be gluttony, gluttony isn't about food it's about wanting more and more and more than you could ever need of one item aka money.
Envy should be the most normal suburb like places or at least as normal as it gets, people in these places tend to experience fomo and a lot of times will try to out compete each other and yeahhh.

I kinda like the idea of the seven princes having physical flaws in their designs as a hint to their fall from grace, like Lucifer's left arm being scarred, Asmodeus with his three heads and Belphegor having prosthetic hands.
Also as a sucker for beards, Belphegor looks gorgeous.

Uhmmm Lucifer with his wings burned and imperfect and covering them it's kinda hot u know? I love that vision to represent his fall and at the same time he can create firewings on top of the remains of his wings to also represent how he rise up from the Debris, like a phoenix idk
That part about bel being the reason sinners have wi-fi and phones got me thinking-what if in this version vox is trying to emulate or even surpass belphegor,kinda like val with ozzie,with vox using the foundations bel laid to build his own empire and maybe eventually establish himself as a rival to bel
That's kinda what I was going for I have had this theory that the reason there over population in pride is cause some sinners are supposed to be in other rings but Lucifer wont let them as his pride is to big
I would actually really love the blue against the pink of Sloth, it makes it even clearer how much Belphegor is different from the Sloth citizens
Especially if like the whole city's light system was like the tiktok lights just constantly changing neons while hes this blinding white and blue
I've never seen Sloth interpreted this way before and I honestly love it! it's such a unique take and I love the relation with technology. I like the idea of Sloth relating to a feeling of depression, how you just "give up" but everyone thinks you're just being lazy. I can imagine the best inventors have everything taken care of for them thanks to their advanced tech so they constantly lounge around and pursue whatever interests them but what ends up happening is that they get extremely bored, trying to find something to entertain them. Eventually they just give up, not even taking care of themselves anymore. I can also imagine tall towers isolating all of these inventors and you'd see reports of random inventors being found dead long after they actually died because no one lives in the tower anymore and with all this tech working for them, they aren't even needed or anymore, compounding that depressive feeling.

I love Viv, and her ideas are really good, but I wish it was more thought out with the world-building since... like, it's there, but it's kind of thrown together... in a way? It's like trying to make Hell more humanized, somehow?
For the point of having entertaining villains, Viv is kind of making a joke out of them. Striker was one of those characters. He was cool, confident, and conniving when we see him in Season One. Then, in the newest episode, he's just written off as a... sexual joke.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE what the crew at SpindleHorse are doing - it's super creative. However... the writing and how they handled their ideas could've been better. I came into Helluva Boss expecting a fun show with imps going to kill people on Earth. Now, it's edgy and focuses more on Blitzø and Stolas's love story. I'm both excited and scared for Hazbin Hotel-
Same hazbin and helluva are great ideas and have alot of fun lore to pull from but so far a lot of what we've seen is just earth with a hellish design like the teams art and animation is truly amazing but the story and world building is making it hard to understand why things are the way they are

I think the issue why their humor sucks at times is bc they seem to be trying to copy Brandon Rodger’s comedic style, which while I love his videos, I don’t think goes well with a story such as HB.
Like if Blitzø was the only/main one to act like him, that would work, but having lots of characters act like Brandon? It’s kinda overwhelming
Honestly cannot praise you enough for not making Belphegor all sleepy. His sin is probably the most interesting to me, and was at one point considered almost as dangerous as Pride. So much can be done with his lore and I love what you did in the design to show he's clearly vain but also relaxed and only interested in what's in front of him- i.e flexing his brain where the rest of his body is thin and small due to not moving a lot.

So many people tend to just design a demon that looks lame and lazy when designing their Belphegor, so I really love that you researched so deeply for this underrated demon and gave him a snazzy design that does him justice.
I really wanted them to be opposites even if there colors come from the same hue and have alot in common (nsfw wise lol) and yeah I knew Belphegor was gonna be a fun design with how deep his lore was but finding references was a challenge since so many ppl drew him in like PJs and no real demonic flare
honestly i'd love to see u ditch hazbin and create your own bibblical story, i like vivs shows but your reimagined designs are way more interesting to me and i'd love to see your versions interract with eachother
I think about it all the time but if I did all I'd get is the "your copying Vivziepop" but yeah they'd all be wildly different and kinda less goofy except Belphegor hes just goofy in a different way 🤣

@@Marzbar90 It depends on what exactly she does. Viv doesnt own biblical interpretations or stories set in hell, and the concept of a hellborn denizen trying to reform hell isnt anything new, but obviously LoveArts couldnt have like...a spider character named angel dust
I'm so glad that someone else finally acknowledges that Belphegor lines up more with that of depression rather than just pure laziness. Like, he's literally an inventor for crying out loud! I swear him, Leviathan, and Beelzebub get the shit ends of the stick as Beelzebub's always depicted as nothing but a glutton and is forever getting confused/mixed up with Lucifer and Satan while Leviathan always seems to be some jealous asshole just because he can. Seriously, I barely ever see people write an actual reason as to why he's so jealous and because of modern Christianity a lot of people don't even know that he's not a demon but rather a giant sea monster who was an absolute menace that literally needed to be obliterated in order to be stopped.
Though, getting back to BeIphegor, I do find it kind of interesting that most people just write him off as a generally lazy individual as most of the other demons from the rebellion did the same thing especially when Lucifer chose him to be one of the Princes of Hell. I love learning about mythology in general as there's so much of it all over the world and there are so many creatures and deities that are similar to one another but can be so vastly different. Also I like the direction you went with Belphegor's design in the end with it being inspired by French outfits from the past which fits really well as he used to be Hell's ambassador to France.
TLDR: Three out of the Seven Princes of Hell constantly are very underappreciated and deserve to be seen as more than just being lazy, fat, or jealous. Belphegor's design is cool and LovesArt did him justice. Also mythology in general is fascinating.
I absolutely love the idea of the sloth sin wanting to just making things that makes life easier (Tech) and hating putting in effort into things that DONT make life easier (art). It is so fresh and makes so much sense in conparison to "lazy and sleepy"
Edit: especially if he invted phones and wifi in hell and its similar to earth where people are mindlessly scrolling.....
He’s so funky, I love the blues, such a lazy pretty color. If someone all blue and lookin cool came to me and said “Easy stuff, go be lazy marshmallow bed” I’d give in-

Belphagor is such a surprisingly interesting demon! he’s one that i had never really looked into, but now i think he might be my favorite of the 7 deadly sins. sounds like the type of guy to completely ignore your question in order to focus on solving his Rubik’s cube for the 99th time lol. his design also kinda gives me wise but cranky old wizard vibes.
Maybe the seventh ring looks so beautiful and peaceful because the dark energy from the first ring does not get so deep down?
Wouldnt the lowest ring be the darkest I mean pride literally has heaven in its sky plus envy is above them which is just a deep dark ocean

I remember something Viv said like when people die in hell, they don't get terminated permanently but more like if their body is fucked up beyond any repair and is not salvagable, their energy/soul unifies with Hell's own? I personally like to believe that in Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel universe, the soul energy of sinners or hell citizens who die really do join the energy circle of Hell as dark energy and maybe even cause more havoc? I mean, considering how chaotic the pride ring is with all the territory wars between the sinners and overlords and the whole overpopulation, I feel like it has to contribute to it somehow. Also, Lucifer being the prideful and petty bastard he is, he also wouldn't let the sinners' energies join to other rings' circles. I think pride would be in like a full-on lockdown state where only people with special access can get in or get out and sinners are absolutely not allowed to leave. I also don't think Leviathan would let anybody pass through their ring unschated if not dead. Plus, the water is said to hold more magical power so maybe Envy would be just able to hold more dark matter than other rings? Also I really like the idea that Sloth actually being that vibrant or peaceful/kinda slow-paced because like you said, they are right under Envy which is just a deep dark ocean and the bottom of the ocean is freezing cold and people tend to move slower in cold temperatures and from what I know (I could be wrong tho) people also tend to have/see more vibrant/colorful/lucid dreams when they are in depression and when they are cold. It would also fix that heat problem for a high-tech city you mentioned

As someone who’s in love with mythology and biblical lore. I absolutely am in love with how you drew Belphegor. The way you took into amount of how he is actually depicted along with his personality. The design suits him wonderfully, I don’t think I could see a more accurate design than yours. ❤❤❤
I love how Pride is the shortest of the sins so far, it’s very fitting.
I’m also in love with your designs, they’re so fricken good!! They’re so unique to eachother while remaining demonic and representing “royalty”. Belphegor’s design has to be my favourite, the hair, tail and prosthetics won me over.
Thank you and lol yeah I like to think Lucifers punishment is being the size of a human while the others can still shift into human forms or smaller forms they prefer to show off there monster forms as Angel's have been described as gods creatures which makes sense since there forms are horrifying XD

and even then Lucifer is considered so unimaginably beautiful that all of hell would still find him attractive despite his scarring.

Not sure about Mammon, at least in the show he seems like the sort who rips people off but doesn't understand why they dislike him. But I could definitely see Asmodeus, Beelzebub, and Belphegor getting along due to their shared philosophy: life is made to be enjoyed.
Good point about how each ring should've felt more distinct than just different shades of cityscape. Envy will probably consist of luxurious underwater cities. I'd imagined Sloth as being a dark, technologically advanced society with a lot of neon, bioluminesence, and automation. Given the Sleepy Pillz app, Sloth seemingly focuses on drugs: pharmaceuticals, hence the hospital, and most likely recreational.
Nice job on Belphegor, I'm still hoping we'll see him in the show. I'd envision him as a very intelligent and powerful yet self-absorbed and lazy demon. He does the minimum to stay in Lucifer's good graces, but overall, he just does his own thing.
The Sloth ring being futuristic and high-tech would have made so much sense. 😭

This was very fascinating. I always thought Belphagor was just the lazy toilet demon. I had no idea about all the cool French style and him being a dark muse of science.
Your version of belphegor looking like a cool business man is very interesting in my opinion since I've seen so many artists draw each of the 7 princes of hell in the stereotypical personality trait that they are known for. For belphegor, I've seen a lot of other artists draw him as this lazy dude who is in his room or office and doesn't even bother to do anything fun since he doesn't want to lol.
Yeah everyone always seems to go that route when hes not exactly lazy hed rather just do what he wants which learn and invent which makes sense since back in the day bettering your self (education)was seen as lazy which I guess still somewhat Applies since my mom thinks I'm lazy just cause I look at my phone for along time mean while I'm researching stuff

god he looks cool, and it'd really cool if more media started going with the original depiction of the sin of sloth when tackling the 7 deadly sins archetypes
when I realized sloth was a hospital I immediately remembered the seven sins Vocaloid series and the sin of sloth Miku is a woman unable to sleep her husband resents her for it and tries to give her medication to "sleep" but she retaliates and drugs him with it and then everybody else in the town. Believing that this will help everybody be free from the burden and complexities of life.
Your version of the Sloth Ring reminded me of the 1973 animated science fiction film, Fantastic Planet. From the blues, the scaling between differing creatures, and the cold detachments brought on by technology and apathy.
I find your worldbuilding wonderfully researched in both the aspects of theology and introspective character building.
Really love his design! The design gave me Idia Shroud vibes which I absolutely love and how well it fits! Can't wait to see more art from you!

I adore this design.. The colours, his hair, just everything is so great. I love all the creativity and how deep you dive into the biblical lore, it's making me want to work on my own project that includes Hell again since I didn't go very deep in the past and left it kind of vague.
The silhouette of Gluttony looks interesting. I can't wait to see what he'll look like since I'm in love with the princes designs you made so far

Belphegor looks FANTASTIC. The different shades of blue and white compliment the grey added in the design. The cybernetic parts are a very nice touch. He fits very well with the other reimagined princes of hell. I’m excited to see the other princes when they come out.
Man, just everything you do for these characters - from research to how you design them - it’s inspiring. I’ve already had some ideas for biblical stories thanks to your work. But they’re still in the works.

GOD can i just say i am IN LOVE with your research and applications of it? When i researched sloth in the past i frequently concluded his sin was more that of deception and lying through inaction and people who dont practice what they preach and it reflects in the failure of their inventions but i love the route you took to incorporate your research as I really dont like people taking it as just "laziness". I also like the detail of it being cold because in Dante's inferno iirc sloth was above Treachery (sin of betrayal and deemed worst sin of all i wish ppl acknowledged more bc its a neat one) which was a ice landscape due to lucifer flapping his wings in attempts to free himself so it really would make sense to be cold and need to be cold. I really like the detail of using light blue as well since it ties so nicely into use of ice!
Your version of Belphegor looks like he'd be voiced by Brett Tucker and I mean that as the HIGHEST compliment!! You made Sloth look like such a interesting sin as well as giving him a new look! He and his realm might be my favorite you've designed so far!

Oh man. Your re-imagined designs for denizens of Hell always knock it out of the park. I absolutely LOVE what you came up with for this guy. As for the reasons behind the Sloth Ring's design I personally really like Cartoon Universe's theories about it from his "The Sloth Ring: The Secret Evils of the Plague Doctors & Medical Industry!" vid. Srsly, he's my go-to tuber for HB's lore cuz all his content is so thoughtful and interesting, so I feel like you may enjoy it ❤❤

Your explanation and going into detail with Belphegor just made him my favorite demon. I never thought much of him since nobody ever really talks about the Sloth sin, other than laziness, so hearing all this new information was quite startling for me, I will admit. I love how Belphegor has a passion for France, and I also love how you made him have porcelain hands, which makes him more unique than the other Princes of Hell. I also love your design of him, it gives me those intelligent grandfatherly vibes that make me squeal! Anyways- Love your design, and I love your explanation! Ahhhhhh sorry to scream there but I freaking love your way of interpreting this each prince feels completely different all the designs hit they just stinking hit everything is always well thought out and pulls from something ❤ you’re mad talented and I wish you were leading the shows designs. The story itself is yeah it’s good but it all kinda feels a little samey if that makes sense but each character you take hold of just turns into something incredible
i do really like that i know more about belphegor, or just any of the sins due to your videos. in my mind i don't really picture him as lazy anymore but more of a creature that causes depression and would probably also cause you to get a burn out. it's very interesting and i like to get these little lore parts and head cannons while/after watching your videos
Idk if someone else has already said this (probably have lmao), but I actually really enjoy how you made Belphegor's primary color blue instead of pink! I never knew about the original meaning of the sin of sloth, but it having similar qualities to depression makes the connect between him and the blue color palette work even more! I always see and personally imagine artwork that have depression as a central theme have shades and hues of blue, so it works really well imo!

Wow, I really like your depiction of Belphegor.
Baphomet is actually a really interesting "Biblical" figure! The first reference to Baphomet came in a letter from 1098, written by a Anselm of Ribemont, a Templar knight, at the siege of Antioch (now in Hatay, Turkey). In the letter, Anselm describes how the inhabitants of Antioch called upon a "Baphomet" in a sort of religious chant, to which Anselm prayed to his own God. It's believed that "Baphomet" is either a mishearing or an archaic phrasing of "Mahomet," or Muhammed, the Islamic prophet.
I like to imagine Baphomet as either a running joke among demonic royalty, or a poser who wants to be in with all the royals, but nobody respects them for a prank they pulled in 1098. A demonic-royal version of Sir Pentious, if you will.

Here’s my headcanon. Based on the fact the hospital is in the Sloth Ring- and SInners are permanently stuck in the Pride Ring-, and the firefighters were run by Hell Born, and Fizz- who’s an imp- was injured by the fire and still has his scars today unlike the Sinners who can regenerate their entire body unless injured by Angelic Weapons, the hospitals and firefighters are only for the hell born who can actually die at any moment with no coming back. Also, fun fact, some cults do in fact have Priests… though, I still wonder why he carries the Bible with the cross on it. I mean, it could be upside down to match their location, idk.
Another stunning design! If Tony Jay was still alive, he would for sure voice Belphegor.

This take on Belphegor looks super cool and lore wise, is very interesting. (Though, It may be a bit bias talking ; as I'm a sucker for shades of blue, glowy stuff, and puzzle nerd or inventor characters). Tbh, the sin of sloth is so under-apperciated or oversimplifed in works of fiction, to the point that this is the first time I'm even hearing the guys name / learning about him..- Nevertheless, I love him already. 💙

The fact that hell has a hospital is so wrong. It's hell. It's a place where you suffer. I'd imagine that no one would even think about healing you.
Hell having hospitals would imply that diseases would also exist considering how ultra violent and death ridden some of the rings can be, those hospitals are probably reserved for only hellborns since sinners are stated to be immortal unless angelic weapons are involved.

I'd think that the hospital theme could work for sloth if you consider that the citizens would be so unmotivated to do anything that takes the slightest of effort that they get a bunch of unnecessary prosthetics and surgeries. Don't want to walk anymore? Replace your legs with jets.
Yeah the surgery part I can buy as the sloth imps would be the ones performing it along with all kinda of cosmetic surgery since liposuction is kinda a easy way to loss weight and super not healthy to do

One thing I find stupid about some versions of Belphegor I've seen people make in fanfics is that they make her a Doctor......a Doctor....you mean, at least from my perspective, what must be one of the most physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausting professions EVER? Yeah no.
My bet is that Bel is going to be a gamer/streamer girl who pays others to make her ideas and tasks credit for them and she supports A.I. Art. At best she embodied the "Productiveness is just effective laziness" and "give a hard job to a lazy person and they will find the easiest way to do it" kind of person.
I'm loving your version of the 7 princes of hell there all just so unique and gorgeous. I'd love to make my own interpretation of them someday
