As someone who discovered how to get the fertilizer on my own, yeah, it felt awesome in the moment, but it took me longer to figure out where I needed to bring it. Still, it felt awesome to be able to refight the final boss and the super boss with the help of a super powerful Mario and a nearly invincible Princess on heal duty. Yeah, it feels like the game is calling you out by calling the weapon and armor "Lazy" but I enjoyed the power fantasy.
Good shit. I love that they call you out with the titling too. The Lazy Shell: For Those Who Live Up To Its Name. But yeah at this point, I never play without it. Too rad, sorry. I can't fight the rule of cool.

Me and you are on the exact same page about mario rpg. Now that the remake is out, it is my favorite game if all time. I probably beat the original one 25 times on snes. It was so amazing to see the new graphics kept so true to the original art style and atmosphere.
When i ever played through the original game, i knew in RPGs, grinding is a thing so i took it on myself to say least grind to level 5 or level 10 before i advanced to mushroom kingdom. Also Booster Tower has not one, but two themes. One for the lower half and a separate one for the upper half.
You mentioned a faulty emulated version, where you couldn't make a booster tower jump. I had the same thing happen, the emulator just wouldn't recognize more than 3 simultaneously pressed keys, making it impossible to press left, down, y (run) and b (jump) at the same time. You need all 4 to make that jump. Solved it by writing y and b to the same key temporarily.
I'm pretty sure it was acknowledged either in-universe or by Miyamoto or Tezuka possibly around the time of Galaxy or one of the RPGs like Bowser's Inside Story or something that Bowser was indeed the most powerful singular creature in that world until the outsiders Mario and Luigi arrived at the Mushroom Kingdom to kick off the events of the original SMB on the NES. I wish I could find the source for that, but it was so long ago that it escapes me where I first heard it, and clearly ever since then the story has evolved to the point where Peach herself is acknowledged as a Star Child (thanks to Yoshi's Island DS, among other things) and on a potential power level equal to the Bros and Bowser, also confirmed Star Children, and even Daisy is getting up there if her recent playable inclusion in Wonder is any indication.

Lots of degrees of characterization between those two extremes! Peach has only gotten better as a character as the Mario universe has given her more dimensionality.

No way! I had no idea about the two separate themes and I went pretty thorough on this. Just another thing to make Booster Tower the GOAT
