144.390 is the national frequency SSID for a mobile is -9, for a portable is -7 Welcome to the world of APRS. Now you have to learn how to setup your own digi-peater and iGate
Nick again. Thanks for the GPS icon answer. Next questions is about APRS and it's TX freq. It seems to just blast off beacons on whatever freq i'm on... There's no way to set the APRS freq and have it momentarily switch freq to transmit a beacon????
Does anyone know what changed with the update to version 2.5 of the firmware? I just did the update, but there doesn't seem to be any differences, in menus or anything else I from what I can tell. Is it just an update to fix bugs?
A friend in local club got some problem with APRS display. When it received a beacon, no message poped up as what your video shows. Couldn't find the reason.

Hi Nate, great video! Can anyone confirm that APRS beacon will be sent in background (from B?) while A scans through memories? Basically, I am hoping to just have APRS running on B in the background, and not interfering with whatever I am doing on A. Is that how it works?
+GMDTV I called Yaesu. They confirmed it will not beacon in the background since it has only one radio. Seems like they could write in logic to beacon, even on one radio, if no activity is present, then resume whatever it was doing. But regardless, Yaesu says it cannot. APRS freq must be in the foreground to work, and you can be monitoring one "home" freq in the background intermittently.

I dont remember what that symbol is, but i am guessing it has to do with APRS. I no longer have the radio, I upgraded to the FTM-400DR, because I wanted more functionality. This is great Go radio or Jeep radio, however this radio seems to sound a lot clearer than the FTM-400 radio.
WHY LIKE ON THIS RADIO THEY DONT JUST HAVE AIRBAND/70CM/2M AND JUST LEAVE THE REST OFF THE RADIO?? WHAT WE NEED 900MHZ FOR ECT CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN THESE HIGHER FREQ?
Dont quote me on this either, but I think it has something to do with a simple modification to the radio that will allow you to operate on those freq. I think it's called MARS. and you can do a MARS mod on almost any radio.

check to see if th SD card is installed and make sure APRS

I no longer have the radio, so it's hard to say. Sorry bud. I think if you call Yaesu and ask they can definitely help with that question.
Have you been able to use the Dual watch feature with APRS and a FM/C4FM repeater for voice?

If using the Yeasu FTM-100DR as an APRS radio only. Does the mic have to be plugged in or can it be used without the mic?
+danny mcelvain From what I remember, the mic does not have to be plugged in for you to hear anything.

no sorry, it's either one or the other.
you can do dual watch set APRS for home or set your favorite channel to the home and choose APRS as a channel then put it into DW mode.
only problem with that is, when you key up the mic it will key on home station not your memory station while in dual watch.
got one off the wall question, can i do wires x in a mobile with this rig?

No sir, the screen is standard with that color, you'd have to move up to the FTM-440DR in order to get different colors.
You should turn off your autofocus, it will keep the radio display clear while recording.

what antenna are you using?
+Ruben Dario Diamond mag mount. Its a dual band antenna and it folds over incase you have to go through low spots like a garage.
