If you're using APRS in VFO-A, then switch to VFO-B, is the modem still on and transmitting beacons? ie, do you have to turn the modem on and off every single time you switch from a voice repeater to aprs mode? Can the modem be on in VFO-A and off in VFO-B?
I'm wondering what the radio will behave if you set the qso frequency as main band, aprs frequency as sub band. Will it send aprs beacon when main band is standing by? thanks
@@matthew2000tx Thanks for the answer. I looked. I did everything like that. I even checked it several times. I accept all packages. But my station does not send. That's what I want to configure.
As stated by oh2fxd Dual watch monitors the Home channel not the opposing VFO. Also my understanding is you have to stay on the APRS TX Frequency to transmit a beacon. Unlike the FTM-400D which is a dual receiver rig the FTM-100D is single receiver.
It sure looks like it's monitoring the opposing VFO. I even paused the video to confirm. It must be coincidental that VFO-B (memory-1) was identical to the VFO-A (memory-HOME)? The manual clearly states the "HOME" memory is monitored, which is a deal breaker for me. Please confirm as this is a huge source of confusion - thanks!
I am from the SA area and monitor AA5RO during my commute. I am looking at upgrading my vehicles. Does this radio let you monitor one channel while broadcasting aprs?
If you are using APRS you can only Dual watch the UHF side of the radio. Cant do VHF+ VHF kinda sucks. Also you cant scan the UHF and VHF frequencies together, because they get programmed or (saved) in different memory banks A for VHF B- for UHF this is so stupid. I just should have bought another Kenwood Tm-v71A.........
Thank you that was helpful. I just bought my 100DR, and I love it. But I won't need all those extra bells and whistles.

I would like you know if I can have APRS in VFO A and have it scan memory channels B and will it still TX the APRS on VFO A?
If you have vfo B set as your primary channel with vfo A set as APRS will it still TX beacon?
That intro is awesome!
thanks
All I wanted to find here today was how do you get the station list.
Hello, i have new radio. But have problem.Question.Why does not send aprs packets from yaesu ftm-100dr.
ES1BRD you must turn on Aprs modem
Also watch at 5:44 you must turn beacon text on #14 on aprs menu
