    Why are these yards so commonly using these trailer mounted loaders vs an excavator? Cheaper? Not really needed to be moved around often so it doesn’t need to be drivable?

    • @grindersandheavyiron1741
      @grindersandheavyiron1741  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question. I wondered the same thing before working here. Excavators are the work horse of these operations but their big downfall is the logs have to 1) be parallel with the thumb/bucket to pick it up and 2)the excavator has to be perfectly situated to then load those logs on the infeed chain.
      Knucklebooms are awesome because you can spin the grapple 360 so no matter where the log is, you can grab it. It’s also handy to inspect a log quickly by spinning it for metal.

    This machine is weak......a lumber mill not far from my home has a much much more powerfull chipper, it eats all types of wood like its made out of butter, doesnt slow down at all nor does it choke, one day while going to work i drove past the lumber mill and i saw the chipper in action and how it ate 3 entire 5 meter long oak trunks in mere seconds

    I'm not very happy with this video. Of cause the 'Beast' is awesome. But the camera angle is just bad. Most of the time the drum and the cutting process is hidden and you can't see anything. So to me it is useless.

    • @grindersandheavyiron1741
      @grindersandheavyiron1741  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I understand your point but if you haven't worked around these machines before, that is extremely dangerous to do. If one of the teeth or chunks of wood fire out "which they do regularly", it would kill you. In fact, in one of my videos you can see me actually duck when a firewood size piece came directly at me and I was almost hit. I wish I could have gotten a straight on shot but it was simply too dangerous. Sorry
