The lighter notes he plays on the snare are called ghost notes. The way Matt uses them is very difficult. Requires a lot of control that even a lot of experienced drummers don’t have.
Love your videos! I'd recommend more Periphery. (Not sure if you've heard any of these but) I'd say something like Reptile or Omega if you want masterpieces. Sentient Glow or Flatline if you want straight bangers, or literally anything from P2 - Ragnarok, Erised, Luck as a Constant, Make total destroy... the list of great songs goes on. I genuinely believe that Periphery have yet to make a bad song.
