Thank you for your explanations. It helps a lot. Thumps up from #CilentoArea #AlburniMountains #SalernoCity #CampaniaRegion #SouthernItaly I suggest you to give a look at the wines of that area, they are lovely, great wines and very old grape, tipically of that area.
Don't get it why you leave out the great Nerello grapes from Sicily, Gaglioppo from Calabria, the Aglianico del Volture denomination in Basilicata, all the delicious desert wines and why Fiano di Avellino or just the Fiano grape, which is the most important in Campania was not more discussed. Very shallow overall.
@@GDG-qq2oy Generally yes and that's fine when you can't be an expert of everything, but this is an wine professional and it seems like he doesn't have a clue about italian valuations regarding local grapes. Probably only talking about wines that he imports to the US.
This is an LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) training video, they are the largest Canadian import/export agency of wine, where we have a decidedly dry taste in wines. I don't think anything in this video is meant to offend - it is meant to help people sell wine to Canadians who largely detest sweet wine. Even our native Icewines don't sell very well here.
In my opinion the Sicilian contents (beside the amazing landscapes) were quite poor. Etna wasn’t even mentioned along with Pantelleria and Eloro. And the GDO wines tasted are made by huge commercial brands out of varieties such traminer and sauvignon that nothing have to share with tradition and quality. A better job could have be done indeed by interviewing young, small producers for example.
this is a wonderful 3 part series that NEEDS to be available on DVD. I would gladly pay $50-80 for a copy. :)
I fully agree. When can I buy?

How can you leave Sicily without Enta Rosso/Nerello Mascalese discussion??? And then skip right over Calabria and Gaglioppo????
I agree !
Nice
This is PBS or food network stuff right here. Possibly history channel. Like the olden days of documentary.
I wish you added Montepulciano D'Abruzzo within this episode
check out part 2, central italy, about the 3 minute point...
I didn't know Lee Mack was a wine expert.
The only question is: Does it get you pissed?

Generally, foreigners are ignorant of Italy and follow stereotypes that are only in their heads!
