      I think it's a fair concern. This is what I call a "Portable park model." Likely best left in one spot when possible.

    I was very exited looking at this floor plan. Very cool layout, especially the front living room and the loft. It is perfect for a family of 4 (2 small kids) The only deal breaker is that there is no outside kitchen. A small fridge with a cooking grill would have been enough....

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the trick is there's just no space to put one -- especially given how precious the limited outside storage already is. But that's why we carry so many models. Perhaps something like these might have more of what you're seeking: www.haylettautoandrv.com/inventory/?keyword=384br

      Me and my wife said that same thing. Every trailer we look at is either for a couple or 20 people. We have 1 kid and just dont want her sleeping on a couch in our living room anymore but we dont need a huge bedroom for her either.
      The one couch slide is a little in the way for us we have a seasonal site with a deck and the one couch slide interferes with our view of the water a bit but we can live with it for checking every other box.

      Many brands leave out things like towel rods as no matter where they put them "it's the wrong spot." Some brands like Rockwood intentionally ship them loose for that reason. That's easy screwdriver stuff we can handle for you before the RV ever leaves our driveway

    I just went to the Seattle RV show this last weekend. We found out that our two special needs boys would be unable to climb the ladder to a loft above a mid bunk. This floor plan however is absolutely amazing. Exactly what we are looking for. This will 100% be the next RV we will be living in.

    I owned a Big Sky Montana about 10 years ago and absolutely LOVED it. The set up was very similar to this one. The good part of the kitchen not on a slide is that it does not impede on your "living" deck side outdoors. Believe me I had an awesome large deck for outdoor enjoyment because of this feature. I miss that rig it was the best for its time.

      I think to go longer than this w/o coding issues they'd have to make it a destination trailer due to square footage restraints. Could be wrong. The bathroom is ENOUGH... but a SMIDGE bigger wouldn't kill me either :)

    Very interesting floor plan. If we didn’t already have the 368MBI and love it this would be a contender. A consideration about that back door is room for those MorRyde steps to open up. Since they’ll be in your hallway you really have to put them out so you need to plan that when you’re parking this so you have room for them. A lot of places we’ve been have the power pedestal or physical barriers between sites back there. Not a deal breaker but something to think about.

    Can you do a video on frame flex and what is causing it and what to do if you have it on the Montana line

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most frame flex is due to overloading or improper use of the auto leveling system. Each montana chassis is custom-engineered to prevent frame flex from proper use.
      Is there a brand in which you've seen flexing frames as an issue?

    • @teezeeman18
      @teezeeman18 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoshtheRVNerd
      I don’t have frame flex yet and I own a 2020 3781rl. Another owner in the Montana forum with the same model is at Affinity right now with their issue and there are other documented cases with the front slides on the Montana line. I don’t want this to happen to me and I want to know how to prevent it. I’m not overloaded but not sure what you mean about not using leveling system correctly

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@teezeeman18 This sounds more isolated than widespread.
      Regarding leveling system -- What I mean there is some people will start mashing the button on one of the jack legs w/o letting the system work on its own. They can in extreme cases tweak the frame like you're describing.

    how well does the A/C cool the master bedroom? do the ducts feeding it put enough air in there?

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We haven't had clients offer complaints about that yet, so it seems to be doing well. It's important to remember the loft is actually acting as something like an extra layer of protection for the bedroom
      So that lower bedroom never really gets a lot of direct sun exposure outside heating up the room. Cold air also travels down, so some of the A/C from the living area will naturally "bleed" down into the bedroom

      It’s an incredible decision.

    Josh, this has to be one of the most unique floor plans ever..... in a very good way! I personally like a front living room/kitchen with the bedroom in the back. The campground traffic won't interfere with a good nights sleep.
    Really like the extra door on the off side great for access to the bathroom w/o walking through the whole house.

    Josh, I have often wondered why slide awnings are usually black. Wouldn't white be better to help keep the slide outs cooler? Is there advantages to the darker color? Can white covers be ordered when a RV is ordered from the factory? Thanks Josh...............you the best!!!

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      White covers are certainly available. Black is most commonly seen today because "it looks better."
      If a factory offers slide awnings, then they will only use they color they think looks best. If a brand only offers black (such as montana), and you wanted white then we'll simply handle the install here locally.

      @JoshtheRVNerd  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daphnelabua525 Technically yes, but not much below 40ft. By the time you have slides in the living room, a sliding bunk room, bathroom, and bedroom (probably with a slide) it has to be at last 37ft if not more.
      Couple that with a sales history in which full bed slide mid-bunks (which are those 40ft models) absolutely dominate the mid-bunk market & you simply don't find much. Cougar makes the smallest mid-bunk that makes any real sense which you can see here: bit.ly/33ECs9j Impressively it's under 33ft and MUCH lighter than most.

    What's the difference between a montana and a montana high country?
    The differences between the 2 have changed so much over the years but now I'm not quite sure what they are.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In short: The "spirit" or purpose of the two differs. Both have auto leveling, dual air, king beds, walk in slides, 0 degree rated, tank heaters, A/C heat pumps, etc.
      The goal of the different sub-segment & how they accomplish those goals is where they vary & where the differences come from.
      High Country models are built with weight sensitivity, whereas "montana"-proper models are built with feature focus.
      That means High Country models tend to be lighter in weight & budget whereas a "Big Montana" is more the luxury focused "flashy" model.
      Basically same construction between them. Just a different set of appointments and "Creature features"

      @@JoshtheRVNerd the thing that makes this unit great is it doesnt really sacrifice anything as you mentioned. With a mid bunk you give up cupboard/counter space. With a typical bunk house you give up the entertainment area. The only thing I wish was different is a different slide system. Or maybe just educate myself a bit better on cable slides, I'm a bit weary of those.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@buckwuk7984 It's a concern a lot of folks have. I think one of the most powerful pieces of information relating to cable slides out there is the fact that at all of Montana and Cougar combined cable slides are literally their least warranted item.
      It's also the most expensive slide system out there. MFGs would not continue to use it if it wasn't working when literally all other alternatives are less expensive.

    I don't understand why they design an RV that looks out and now even has a for going into your neighbor's site. Rather than your own

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the living room you basically have 360 degrees of viewing.
      Plenty of brands build big slides on the door side loaded with windows. On a model like this it plays havoc with your awning and campsite causing you to lose a lot of functional space in both.
      That's why we carry different models - to give you options and find the thing YOU prefer. Perhaps you'd prefer Sabre's front living at: bit.ly/38OpXeJ

    I really like that by making this a drop-frame rear bedroom, there appears to be more height in the loft than midbunk lofts seem to have. Is that just a mental game or is the loft floor to ceiling height taller?

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's slight, but I think you're right. I'd have to do some measuring. I think they used JUST enough room in the bedroom to put an extra smidge into that loft.

      This layout is a bit too large for a common travel trailer. loft concepts in trailers can really only be found in destination trailers like the Wildwoods we offer due to the the height/size they require.

      Montana upper decks usually measure 6'6" sidewall. You're just taller than the average bear. Most RVs aren't designed with a giant drink of water like you in mind.
      Interestingly... Eagle travel trailers are 7ft tall on the HT models and 7'3" on the full "Eagle" series and may fit you more comfortably.
