I have search and searched for a tutorial that goes through in real depth all the nuances of using the pen tool and I finally found yours. Excellent. Thank you.
04:14 THIS was very important for me. I work on eCommerce clipping a lot and couldn't figure out how to make breaking the node happening. Thank you for that information!
Thank you for this tutorial. I just didn't understand how to use the pen tool until I viewed your tutorial. I was unable to use the space bar and move a node without moving the handles - I watched three times.....wondering if it's not a part of the program any longer? Any suggestions appreciated.
Thank you for your tutorial! It's the only one that I found that thoroughly goes over all the pen tool features and shortcuts. You made my life easier by making the pen tool more flexible for me. :) I'm confused at 5:32 when you drag the node and the handles don't move. I have a PC and I clicked alt+ctrl and then drag, but both the node and the handles move. I even tried the opposite combination, which did not work either.
Thanks, helpful video. I often draw in the designer persona with a photograph on another layer with some transparency added. Many times the vector lines are not closed because the final purpose of the vector art is to be cut on a vinyl cutter. Since there are mostly no fills, I need to trim lines where they intersect other lines. sometimes break into a vector line with another open vector shape. Could you explain how to do this? I can usually intersect closed shapes with the boolean functions. But they are greyed out when you select open vectors. Thanks. ~ Al
I can't seem to add a node to an existing line on Windows like you do at 4:32. I can ctrl+alt+drag to move the line around, but when I just ctrl+alt click, it adds a node that seems to be starting a new line instead of being connected to the existing one. Anyone have any ideas?

This was a massively helpful video, thanks the pen tool doesn't feel quite as confusing now, and great tips.
Great tutorial. I learned so much about working with nodes.
For Windows users... the Alt key is the equivalent to the Option key he references in the tutorial.
What is the command key please.?
@@CarnivoreIam ctrl if you are on windows

Is there any other way of deleting nodes other than pressing the delete key or undo? Thanks.

Does affinity have a trace mode?
What are option and command keys.?
One thing I noticed is it appears that you can’t have three lines going into one node, in other words you can’t have a T-intersection.
@@garynunncreative Thanks for the clarification, as can tell I'm a novice at this.
