  • The crankshaft is a shaft driven by a crank mechanism consisting, of a series of cranks and crankpins, to which the connecting rods of the engine is attached. It is a mechanical part, that can perform the conversion between reciprocating motion and rotational motion. For an internal combustion engine, the crankshaft is the most important part, and can be considered its heart. As the world becomes more and more flat, the need for integration, trade and travel is increasing, the demand for cargo ships with large tonnage is also increasing, accompanied by large-capacity engines, and The heart of the engine is the large crankshaft. An example of the crankshaft of the world's largest diesel engine commonly fitted to cargo ships, it is 26.6 meters long and weighs 2,300 tons. It seems like a simple problem that we are going to produce those big crankshafts, but the question is, how do we make those huge crankshafts? In this video, X-Machines will explore with you the journey of manufacturing giant crankshafts at steel mills capable of producing giant crankshafts.

9:10 they didnt really show us how *that* massive crank was made tho… the one in the press forge and general machining were much smaller.

This is just like the Finkl steel forging facility that was on Armitage in Chicago.

Not enough info on making the bigger crankshafts, little shit easy, I wanted to see how a 26 meter long crank shaft was made.

Factory is in northern Germany. Germany makes halve the Cruise Ships and France the other halve. The rest of the World floats in them.

incorrect topic. Showing the making process of a fully forged small crankshaft . larger crankshaft are manufacturing with semi built process.

This video is incoherent. Usually to make strong piece of steel the manufacturers prefers steel from blast furnace instead of electric furnace because of impurity and quality management. From blast furnace cast iron is refined to Besmer process. Also, we didn’t saw the real crankshaft but smaller piece, probably because access to real documents was too difficult.

You showed nothing of the forging or machining of that large Korean engine crankshaft.

The incredible mind of human beings to create so precise and instrument to run an engine. But we can't seem to get along with other men on the other side of the ocean. How pathetic.

Crappy audio. Sounds like a machine reading that doesn't have a good grasp of normal speech. If this was an effort to make a video with several language versions then give it a little more thought to make it sound more normal. However can't fault the subject matter.
