I even did a capacitor swap, but it still wasn't working. However, I followed your advice on checking the speedometer connection on the gauge cluster and found a cracked solder joint. Hello, I've owned my 1995 R129 class SL, with 3.2 liter power for 15 yrs., now I'm reaching on this, the cruise control vanished after I installed the ignition harness, checked everything imaginable and conclude my amplifier and actuator is maybe one in the same (not next to brake switch) located in the Beckmann throttle body, biodegradable wiring to that component has either been replaced or in superb condition. I'm considering living without that beautiful feature. I just need a push in the right direction, what to check, I'd be most grateful, while frustrated at it gets !!!
on the w126 will the cruise control stop working if the ABS light is on. MY W126 V8 i have replaced the actuator with a new one and replaced the ecu and still the cruise control will not work, the ABS light comes on after the car goes over 8kmh

So my r129 cruise control kind of works if I’m going like 50km/h it will stick and sometimes release if it’s uphill. Going 100km/h it won’t work at all. This is the actuator right? It is worn and doesn’t have the strength to pull?
Perfect timing with this video. My 201 cruise control simply cuts out at various times. May work for 10 minutes or 10 seconds before dropping the throttle. When it works it works well. Any quick tips on where to look first? Thanks.
Purchased a '80 240 d about a year ago, cruise control has not worked since purchase. In the receipts that came with the car, was one for a replacement speedometer. This is also faulty, at an indicated speed of 40 mph, the GPS on my phone says approximately 32 mph. Somehow, I suspect that these problems may be related... I wonder if the speedometer was intended for an automatic transmission instead of the four speed manual that is in my car, maybe the issue is at the transmission connection/sender... Haynes manual doesn't seem to address it. The four way vacuum connector is in need of replacement as it has cracks in it and as of yesterday, the engine continues to run after the "ignition" switch has been turned off and the key removed. This is probably part of the problem.
it's likely a bad amplifier. these live under the dash by the brake pedal bracket. Remove the whole bracket- its held in by one 10mm bolt- don't try to remove just the amp.

Hello PierreI have a 1986 w126 (6 cylinder gas engine) with surging. I changed the amplifier (no better). I searched around in the engine bay for the actuator but cannot find where it is. I've seen photos of where it is on an 8 cylinder engine but can't for the life of me identify its location anywhere near the throttle linkages. Can you help me? ThanksNabeel

What about the CLK350 W209 2006
mine is not working on the 560sl. need to look at that. tuff spot for big guys down under dash.
only two 10mm screws hold the bracket on...you will be fine.

its under the intake manifold the surging could be caused by an issue with the tail light bulbs though.
I will trouble shoot the light bulbs and let you know the outcome. Thanks in advance.
