It might've worked; I've seen notable personalities like contrapoints and Shaun & Jen fall for it, but that's about the extent of influence I've seen it achieve, outside of major news publications and the ADL being semi-passive aggressive about it.

It's a constant cycle between all four extremes. That's the only way to keep the centrists out for good. After the Communist revolution, there will be an anarchist revolution, which will eventually lead to people taking advantage of the anarchy and capitalism will appear, and the power vacuum will inevitably encourage a fascist dictatorship to unify the people, only to be revolted against again.
