Thanks again Carl , Very useful information . I did pot back downsize my Hime Shojo after re potting too large. in 2 weeks it has improved a lot. It could be warmer weather but it did look sick and sad before. So its a great improvement.
It is really rare to find those in Brazil. Yet, I’m very enthusiastic over the possibility of having at least one in my garden. I saw a very expensive red Japanese maple in the garden center and I thought about taking the risk. Now that I found your channel, I have a more realistic approach. Thank you!
Regarding the red or green myths, what varieties would stay in bright red/purple/pink during summer under sun or shade other than: Beni-maiko, Extravaganza, Ijoshi, AmagiShigure, Shaina ? My collections looks a bit too green/ dark-red/yellow-ish in the summer. 😆
So I don't have one but Fireglow stays red, my Jerre Schwartz with plenty of sun is bright pink. Purple Mano no sato is pretty good! Thanks for posting, Carl
You could do yes, however they need to have cold during winter to complete their life cycle. A location with heating to stop sun zero temperatures could work. 🤔
Assuming you live in a part of the world that is early summer, I would leave it for this season. Check hydration with a water mater but is should be dry enough and hopefully the roots will grow into to fill the pot 👍

I find that keeping them out of the wind is crucial.
Absolutely, heat is not the real problem it's wind! Thanks for posting, Carl

What is the name of the beautiful hosta that shows up on 6:50?
I’m sorry I don’t know it’s name 😢
I lived in Northern Ontario Canada were the winters can be too cold for these maples can you bring them indoors for the winter .

@Japanesemaples thank you ..I have a room upstairs that gets no heat in it ..
I bought an autumn moon sapling. It came in quite a big 3 gallon pot. Should I reported into a smaller pot?
