Linen Gray mine was when Dracula come out the wolf and he said looking into my eyes and the nun said your naked were not looking at your eyes *proceeds to look down*
Well it does have that all too annoying sort of "wit" that Moffat and Gattis bring to everything they make - where the characters voices all sound too similar to voices these two have written elsewhere and the humour is too on the nose to feel like something anyone would actually say. It also has the third episode... oh and speaking of unnecessary twists it has nun agatha van helsing. So I'd say it's roughly mid tier in the overall Dracula movies and series etc.
@Scumspawn I hadn't spotted that but yeah, there is a bit of Lazenby about him. I like OHMSS and Lazenby was good but I agree, it's not the greatest script. I still prefer him to most of Moore's stuff though.
The way Claes Bang was able to be both charming and terrifying at the same time... what a great performance he delivered! He is my 1st choice as next James Bond
The count’s wisecracks and charm really make the character memorable. Agatha (Dolly) is equally brilliant and a formidable opponent to Dracula. Superb acting all round.
@@lynne523 I hope Professor Abraham Van Helsing does make an appearance in the series because I think he comissioned Sister Agatha to the Priory as a spy in case Dracula immerged from his castle in Transylvania.
Yes! Those two actors are amazing in this. I feel sorry for the men who stopped watching cause they feared this was gonna be woke. Like.. Omg.. Those boys must lead a sad life if they feel that threatened to hear a nun ask a man if he slept with Dracula. xD

There are definitely similarities, but I find Dracula far more intelligent and enjoyable to watch than Lucifer who has absolutely no common sense for a being that old. Then again I stopped watching Lucifer after season 3 so it is possible the show has gotten better since then.
This is an amazing cinematic piece. Amazing Van Helsing who could have easily stole the show had Claes hadn't been so perfect for the role himself. That scene outside the convent, just wow.
Really liked ep1 Sadistic humor Dracula is awesome. That "Clearing her throat" moment! Also the Nine is Jonathan Harker. Somebody will get that reference
If you mix Robert Quarry with Christopher Lee, you'll get Claes Bang. For those of you who don't know, Quarry was an actor made famous for his role as "Count Yorga: Vampire" (in the '70s). Ironically enough, he appeared in a handful of Lee, Cushing and Vincent Price films.
I absolutely love it. The acting from everyone is top-notch, but it's the acting and the barbs the 2 main characters throw at each other make their interactions unbelievably engaging and memorable. Dracula himself is terrifying, but also feels very grounded for once, without the ridiculous amount of sci-fi we see in previous iterations. The Dracula we saw in the first 2 episodes has a very modern feel for the age he lives in, but it felt very natural at the same time. Sister Agatha is quickly turning into one of my favorite TV characters, with the wit and intelligence she has displayed so far. I can easily imagine a TV show centered around her as Dolly Wells has done an amazing job so far.
Coppola's Dracula with Gary Oldman will always be my favourite however, the BBC's Dracula delivered similarities to Coppola but with a modern-day twist and on occasion humour. The aloof one-liners delivered by Claes Bang and Dolly Wells was class. Hope there will be a D2 with Claes.
Watched the first part last night and loved it. The sets were fantastic. Effects amazing. I want to say more but I can't spoil it for anyone waiting to see it. A refreshing new twist on the original tale. Especially the brides.Part 2 tonight. Can't wait. Claes Bang is incredible and has a fantastic delivery and presence.Been a huge Dracula fan for most of my life. Seen many versions mostly copy and paste versions of ones that have been made previously but this one is so so different. Cast and crew deserve accolades for this.
Wow! What happened? Again no spoilers. I was pumped after episode 1. It looked so promising. The sets. The casting. The effects then at the end of episode 2 I thought ' No'! Please no. What worked for Sherlock just didn't apply to this. Why did it go this way? I was absolutely sold on this. Should've stuck to the original story line. Bloody skyping!! Especially as after the show there was a special with Mark Gatiss on the origins of the Dracula story. You had us guys. Beautiful shot scenery of the castle etc then it went so wrong for me. I'm sorry but the approach at the start was quite refreshing and even bold but the last episode, especially with all your love and passion for the subject, let it down. A thumbs down for me which is something I didn't feel coming after episode 1. Gutted.
Claes Bang really really reminds me of James Mason the late english actor. I just cant stop watching Claes Bang after watching Dracula.. he's so charming!
If there was any doubt at all about the BBC licence fee being value for money, tonight's first episode alone was worth every penny. A stunning adaptation - I love it!

For any other geeks looking for it, 2:13 is when you can hear Claes pronounce his name. As for his performance, I thought he did a marvelous job of being simultaneously charismatic and repulsive. Claes and Dolly Wells made the show. Without them, it would have been hollow. And since they were what was compelling for me, I wasn't disappointed by ep 3 as so many other folks seem to have been when the show left the beaten path, and went exploring - I'm fine with that.
