Judging from this comparison, I have to say the upgrade isn't worth the hit to my pocketbook or the environment. Almost three years later, my Active 2 is still going strong and I'm as happy with it today as the first time I strapped it on. Kudos to Samsung for making an excellent product that doesn't need to be replaced after two years.

Infact, I bought a GTS 2 first at 13k but the GPS was taking 20 minutes to lock before I start a run, so I returned it, thankful for the GPS issue as if it didn't happen I wouldn't have looked for something else sadly as I assumed Active 2 was selling for 20k

I was at a store fiddling with the watch 4. I had my active 2 on my wrist and the screen on it was so much brighter and nicer than the screen of the watch 4 which looks dim and yellowish...
@@Sheepy007 both the active 2 and the watch 4 have AMOLED screens... And I've tried in different stores with maximum brightness on and it's still dimmer than the active 2 that's why I won't buy it.
They made the galaxy active 2 so good that i wouldn't consider changing. Perhaps when active 10 is out. If you are new to smart watches get the 2 , battery is a beast and works great with workouts

Last year I bought a watch active 2 and this year I got a gw4 classic 42mm LTE for free since I bought a new Samsung phone. Honestly, the new watch is cool, the screen is amazing and I use Google pay on it quite often, but I'm glad I didn't spend the money on it myself, because it certainly has some drawbacks. The batterylife is 1/3 of what my old one gets, and the calendar application on the newer generation is utterly useless as it only shows events for the next four days - where as the old one lists all future events. Luckily I can switch between the two whenever I feel like it.
not to mention a much worst battery life on galaxy watch 4. Heard from some that itbwouldnt even last a day due to wear OS. I rather keep my active 2 for a couple of more years
I am planning to upgrade my old gear s3 frontier. Apart from storage - which I can live with - is there really any thing useful that I am going to miss if I chose active 2. My wife is using an apple watch 7, watch 4 is still nowhere near as polished as apple watch and doesn't have a lot of daily useful apps in playstore. Watch 7 has excellent companion apps for most of the iphone apps whereas there is hardly anything for watch 4 in playstore. Honestly apart from body composition analysis and the way it looks, I really didn't feel much of a difference after upgrading from gear s3 frontier. Hope that the situation improves in future.

I started out with the Active 2 & loved it but had to upgrade to the 4 due to battery issues... Eventhough I really did like some of the newer features on the 4 (especially the blood/oxygen widget), because of the body style, it just wasn't the right fit for me. I just liked the body style of the Active 2 so much better & really missed it so going back to that one, for me anyway, it was just a no-brainer & it's a much better fit. Both of the Active 2 watches were the rose gold, which was a deal breaker, and the 4 was the beige (closest to the rose gold). Also, the first two were 40mm & the second Active 2, used, turned out to be the 44, rather than the 40 which I really don't mind, I don't see 'that much' difference in the two, my deal breaker was the color, not the size. I was able to use the 4 as a trade-in to offset some of the cost of our new computer so win-win ;) Oh, the Active 2 has been updated to also record snoring data :)
I have never had a smart watch and my watches have been the Radio Controlled watches for precise time. I am now looking at buying a smart watch, which will obviously do the same thing in correct time. I like to wear my watch 24/7 even in a shower or really hot bath. The Samsung Active 2 says water resistant to 50 meters, is this so and is it okay used in a hot bath???? People also state that you NEED to use water rejection on the watch and not sure why if states 50m water resistant. If you have covered this, I apologize but love my Samsung S20+ phone and want a Samsung watch but have limited funds. Help and advice much appreciated. PS.. Will probably not use the watch for calling or texting etc.
You can get Galaxy Watch 3 whcih runs on Tizen OS but has almost similar features to Galaxy Watch 4 except for limited apps. It is 2020 model and will continue to receive software updates for atleast year and a half. All of these Galaxy Watches are water proof with IP68 rating which means you can use in shower, bath or swimming. Water rejection is a software feature which simply locks the screen so no unnecessary interaction takes place while in water.
I know of settings that in videos use water rejection on screen to stop any droplets changing functions in a shower etc... But in other videos I have seen say that after being in water, you have to use a water rejection/blow out setting to get any water from speakers etc.... This confuses me due to watch being so called 50 meters water resistant. Any thoughts on the blow out feature on the watches, and does it really need to be done after a shower, hot bath or general swimming?
I am so concerned about water resistance due to needing a watch on my wrist 24/7 due to my job.... Yes I know you need to take it off to charge but would be charging by my computer when battery running low. It was laggy, and Spotify offline ( which was the reason I specifically bought it) was patchy at best. Plus, 4 gb was no way at all adequate. I jus kept wearing it cuz I couldn’t return it. So as my active 2 dies out ( repairs will cost 60% was what I originally spent) , I ordered galaxy 4 this sales season. Haven’t gotten my hands on yet but I’m hoping for a better exp than last time.
How much did you pay? My 17 months old Galaxy Active2 is now not responding to touch properly, apparently known issue with trapped water or something. I'm looking at Galaxy Watch4 now as well.
Does the Active 2 have different settings for screen timeout? I'm looking for something that will let me set the screen timeout for around 30 seconds to a maybe a minute.
Can the chargers for each watch work with each other? So can you charge the 2 on the 4 charger and vice versa. I found someone selling a watch 4 but no charger (It works though) and I was going to buy a charger if I got the watch.
My active 2 watch has worked flawlessly until recently it keeps on disconnecting from my s21 ultra and I have try everything maybe now is the time to upgrade to the galaxy watch 5 44mm since its come down in price thanks to the upcoming release of the galaxy watch 6.

I too have noticed this, the screen appears to have night mode activated...
Oleds are dimmer than lcd displays, but its also very likely that the store watch was set to default dim mode

Galaxy Watch 4 is Galaxy Active 3 my man. The old Galaxy Watch is now Galaxy Watch Classic. There will be no Galaxy Active 3.

Seems like tizen os is getting less support now. Some new apps may not be compatible or may not work as well on active 2.
