    Terry and William playing father and son is funny because there's only a five year age difference between them yet they pulled it off and made it belivable. Rest in power to them both.

    😂 I just saw the Blacula movies with William Marshall, checked out your reactions to them and know another movie with the master again!
    Carol Speed was dope in this. I first saw her in The Big Bird Cage with Pam Grier 😍
    Last time I saw Abby the Black Exorcist I had to be in middle school. Another awesome exorcist rip-off is the Italian movie “Beyond The Door” from the same year.
    I’ve been watching some of the back catalogue on your channel SG. Never stop doing what you do. ❤ much love.

    This film had a strong cast of actors and actresses in it.William Marshall
    Terry Carter, Austin Stoker,Carol Speed and Juanita Moore. And her and Carol Speed's chemistry was great as mother and daughter. Always great to see William Marshall and Austin Stoker in one of his early films and who happens to be from the same place i'm from, trinidad and tobago. Wish they could have done more films together.

    Wow, I noticed Austin Stoker (R.I.P.) is in this! He was the lead actor in the original "Assault on Precinct 13" (1976). It's one of John Carpenter's earliest (and arguably best) films. Definitely worth a look!

    This is the film with another film, lord shango that i recommended to you on your the deliverence review so its cool you reacted to it. The first black church vs the supernatural movies made. With this movie they didnt go full in with the full black church regalia and experience for obvious budget reasons. Good reaction.

Have you seen The Serpent & The Rainbow it was really creepy & disturbing, it was directed by Wes Craven! So yeah that would be great for Fright Night Friday to both Gothika & The Serpent and the Rainbow! Have a blessed night🧡🎃

    The reason he was taking his time is because preperation is part of the ritual when dealing with things like that especially in the african tradition. You can't rush it because something might go wrong.

    • @SistaGurlonFilms
      @SistaGurlonFilms  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Ok! That makes sense! I thought it was a sign of strength towards the entity like to say "you have no power here and I'm the one in control"

    • @texvor6949
      @texvor6949 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@SistaGurlonFilms That too. Depends on the purpose of the ritual. In calling up orishas, the loa, the ancestors, etc you are showing reverence and respect by taking your time in getting everything right for their arrival while with evil it is to show a sign of strength and importantly that you aren't afraid of evil. As fear will lead to panic. Remember Sugar Hill they did a similar thing where the preistess took her time in calling up and talking with the baron while sugar was impatient which annoyed the baron at first because she spoke out in turn and not showing the proper respect. So its clearly a thing in the real traditions those movies are based from.

    Exploitation films ripped off the bigger studios all the time and they never bothered to sue. The main reason WB sued Abby was because at the period when Abby was released and the situation WB and the other bigger studios were in. A lot of the hollywood studios was losing money and experiencing many flops. The only consistant moneymakers at the time was the blaxploitation movies which pratically carried the industry from the early to mid seventies. Mainly because they were cheap to make and got big returns. Back then movies ran in the theatre longer than they do now especially the succesful ones, so the excorcist which was one of the few hits WB had was still at the cinema when Abby was released. And its success was too much for WB to take based on a film that was one of the few hits they had at the time. So it was a direct competitor and the lawsuit was basically designed to get rid of the competition as the excorcist was one of the few "mainstream" movies the black audience saw in significant numbers and abby was taking that away and WB needed the money from all markets/audiences. Knowing them they probably "lost" the master negative of the film that a clean version could be made from it.

    This is a 16mm which is quite good since they often bend picture wise which this one doesnt do. Its also the final cut of the film of the movie. Even though the name was political most blaxploitation films were made by exploitation movie studios, that were more like dolimite with sudden edits/cuts from scene to scene.

    Some other classic blacksploitation horror - Blackenstein (73) and Dr Black & Mr Hyde (76).
    For something a little more recent - Mike Epps' Meet The Blacks films. The first is a parody of The Purge and the 2nd is an homage to Blacula

    Abby is the film where juanita's daughter aint giving her lip like her last screen daughter did in imitation of life. Not a fan of imitation of life because its anti black i much prefer the film pinky that deals with the same subject but doesnt pull you down for being black. Other than that Juanita is always good whatever she's in.
