When do you think you’ll be able to get your business up and running? I’ve been scheduled twice to take the 107 test and both times they cancelled me saying the “instructor isn’t available”. Seemed suspicious to me but they reimbursed me both times. Puts a damper on studying and getting all ready just to be cancelled. Lol.
Very cool, brother. I think the Maven app on the mini 2 would be just as simple as the 4 pro if I could get a lot more smooth on the zoom. I’m sure I could figure it with practice. Maven is a really cool app and opens up a whole new world with the 2.
@@WeretheRoberts yes I got the app a little while back. But still have a lot to learn about the app yet. I find there was a few glitches using the app but overall it’s more user error lol.

Oh, where was I? I missed this one. I have done wayponts using the Maven app a few times, and it worked pretty well, but I've got to try the dolly zoom trick with it. You really have to be coordinated, which I'm not either, and do a slow steady zoom to make it work. You did pretty darned good on your second try there, Kevin! But Dwight deffinitely won that one, as you can program him to auto zoom as he's going between the waypoints. Another great test, Kevin! Oh, BTW, my birthday is coming up on December 14th, and I have received permission from Cheryl to order my Mini 4 Pro for my birthday! Yay!!! 🤩
Hahaha. First congrats on permission, man!!! I remember the feeling of freedom and independence when I got the nod from Kristi to get Dwight. Of course if you remember she had conditions set that she collected on once he was delivered but it was well worth it. Haha. Regarding this demo, I actually did the dolly thing 5 times with the Mini 2 and had to edit out 3 of them because the video was way too long. I picked the worst and the best ones. Lol. But you’re right. The mini 4 won this one hands (propellers) down.
Hahaha. It’s really cool to see it work on the screen while you’re flying. I must say the Mini 4 won this one hands down but it’ll be a lot closer when I get more smooth with the Mini 2 zoom. Lol

I can’t say on the Mini 3 because we didn’t get to buy one but I’ve heard nothing but great things about it since it came out. Now the Mini 2, I can attest it’s amazing!!!

Ive seen Marks few videos on Dolly Zoom using waypoints. Its true that it makes the process easier. Waypoints can dial in zoom MUCH smoother, and over longer distances than anyone can do with the right side jog wheel. There's a zoom choice named "Auto" that splits the zoom from the previous and next waypoints. WP1 = Zoom x1 WP2 = "Auto" WP3 = "Zoom x 3" (or whatever is max at current resolution. Set the distance and global speed right abd its magical. Especially on Air 3's 3X camera (3X to 9X) or Mavic 3 7x camera (7x to 28x) lots of zoom = big effect! PS - with the right info, you are amazingly good at these things. a lot better than your humble approach to life

@WeretheRoberts yes I've done a lot with my mini 2. But didn't know I could with the gopro? Dolly Zoom is fun and looks cool as heck. I do not have any editing programs because they cost too much! But I do have Edit for the gopro as part of the subscription. It's always fun to keep track of you and what you're up to. Have fun, pal.
Oh yea I understand. Editing software is definitely not cheap. We use Wondershare Filmora and it seems to work ok for what we do. We don’t own it and we pay a yearly subscription fee of $50 so it seems not quite as expensive. The one thing we did learn though is our old laptop processor wasn’t even close to fast enough to keep up so we upgraded laptops and it works fine now. I’ll try to find out the professor speed of the computer if it’s something you’d be interested in checking out.
You are just using a digital zoom so you could get the same effect with the same resolution but smoother by doing the zoom effect in post with key frames in an editor like LumaFusion. Thanks for the video and broaching the topic.

Hey Kevin, did you know that the DJI fly app is not compatible with the new iPhone 15 pro? First flight with new phone almost lost my mini 2, at/around 1000’ it lost signal. DJI said they’re working on update but won’t be till after the new year. I’m sure this affects all drones not just the mini2.
Wow I had no idea that’s going on. Why would that happen? So are you out of commission until they get it straightened out or do you have a fall back phone to use?
@@WeretheRobertsI’m out for now😢, back up phone is an older Samsung and it’s not covered. The issue with the iPhone 15’s is they have the capability to be a power bank and they try to charge the controller which messes with the app and controller.

Hey Nobby! I looked and looked for an option for zoom on the Maven app and just couldn’t find it. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it’s really there and I overlooked it. I think if I could just get a lot more smooth on the zoom it would have turned out great. Yet another thing the Mini 2 can do. Haha.
Hey Kevin! I just got a mini 4 pro. I was surprised that when flying in cruise control I could change the altitude without it stopping cruise control mode. I wonder if it’s just my drone or is it normal?
Congrats!!!! That’s awesome, man. I know you’re gonna love that sucker. I really haven’t tried the cruise control feature yet but I’ve seen other videos where you can adjust pretty much everything while in cruise control. I think the only thing that stops it is if it senses an obstacle, but don’t mark my words on that. Lol.
Fantastic result buddy. Did you know if you use mastershots with the mini 4 the first shot is the dolly zoom. You then just clip the shot in editing and BAM you have a dolly zoom 😊
Oh wow I didn’t know that! I haven’t even broached the master shots thing yet. Lol I’m definitely going to have to check that out. Is there a height requirement on the master shots or can you do it really low to the ground? I do have to admit the Mini 4 pro was simple with waypoints. Marvin was simple too but that manual zoom isn’t as easy as I remember it being.

I am definitely adding the master shots stuff to the list of future tests. It looked like you were pretty low for you dolly zoom and honestly it looked a lot better than the one I did with waypoints. They’re the experts. Lol. Or is it masters?

Lol. It’s easier for those who are a lot more coordinated than me. Haha. I know DM productions had a great video when he demonstrated it with the Mini 2 but I’m not nearly as solid with the sticks as you guys are. At least not yet. I may just need to practice more, eh? Lol
I love all your testing 👍🏼 There is much easier way to make the dolly effect though - Especially if you're a bit challenged with your coordination 😂 The best is, that there's no quality loss compared to doing it with the controller under flight, since the zoom on these drones all zoom in digitally. If it was a zoom lens it would be a different story. Just fly backwards and then in editing zoom in using keyframes (or fly forward and zoom out in post production) to make the vertigo effect. Yes and as I mentioned earlier, that's the great thing with your channel. The testing things out, not claiming to be or being a complete professional, makes me feel, I'm with you on the journey. As a matter a fact - inspired by you, today I had to test out, wether the Mini 2 could make the dolly zoom effect using Litchi and waypoint mission. Flying the route was no problem, neither the gimbal tilt change throughout the mission, but it wouldn't zoom, so I guess I'll keep on doing it manually as I've been doing until now 😅 I also love these experiments 🚁🥰

I have the regular mini 3 without the obstacle avoidance and the mini 2. Both are great drones.

Hey Nobby! I looked and looked for an option for zoom on the Maven app and just couldn’t find it. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it’s really there and I overlooked it. I think if I could just get a lot more smooth on the zoom it would have turned out great. Yet another thing the Mini 2 can do. Haha.
Hey Kevin! I just got a mini 4 pro. I was surprised that when flying in cruise control I could change the altitude without it stopping cruise control mode. I wonder if it’s just my drone or is it normal?
Congrats!!!! That’s awesome, man. I know you’re gonna love that sucker. I really haven’t tried the cruise control feature yet but I’ve seen other videos where you can adjust pretty much everything while in cruise control. I think the only thing that stops it is if it senses an obstacle, but don’t mark my words on that. Lol.
Fantastic result buddy. Did you know if you use mastershots with the mini 4 the first shot is the dolly zoom. You then just clip the shot in editing and BAM you have a dolly zoom 😊
Oh wow I didn’t know that! I haven’t even broached the master shots thing yet. Lol I’m definitely going to have to check that out. Is there a height requirement on the master shots or can you do it really low to the ground? I do have to admit the Mini 4 pro was simple with waypoints. Marvin was simple too but that manual zoom isn’t as easy as I remember it being.
@WeretheRoberts I am not sure if there is a height limit whilst using mastershots but maybe you could test it in your next video 😉. I have just uploaded the one I did with mastershots 😊
I am definitely adding the master shots stuff to the list of future tests. It looked like you were pretty low for you dolly zoom and honestly it looked a lot better than the one I did with waypoints. They’re the experts. Lol. Or is it masters?
Yep, same problem with Litchi, no programmable option to zoom.
Oh wow thanks for the info. I wonder if these third party apps will ever have an update to provide the zoom. That would be awesome because my manual efforts at this effect are horrible! Lol

Lol. It’s easier for those who are a lot more coordinated than me. Haha. I know DM productions had a great video when he demonstrated it with the Mini 2 but I’m not nearly as solid with the sticks as you guys are. At least not yet. I may just need to practice more, eh? Lol

There is much easier way to make the dolly effect though - Especially if you're a bit challenged with your coordination 😂 The best is, that there's no quality loss compared to doing it with the controller under flight, since the zoom on these drones all zoom in digitally. If it was a zoom lens it would be a different story.
Just fly backwards and then in editing zoom in using keyframes (or fly forward and zoom out in post production) to make the vertigo effect.

I definitely need to practice a lot more on the Mini 2 zoom to get it more smooth. This is a really cool option for those who don’t have any editing software though for sure. Yes and as I mentioned earlier, that's the great thing with your channel. The testing things out, not claiming to be or being a complete professional, makes me feel, I'm with you on the journey.
As a matter a fact - inspired by you, today I had to test out, wether the Mini 2 could make the dolly zoom effect using Litchi and waypoint mission. Flying the route was no problem, neither the gimbal tilt change throughout the mission, but it wouldn't zoom, so I guess I'll keep on doing it manually as I've been doing until now 😅 I also love these experiments 🚁🥰

Well I’m not a very good editor so I’ll stick with the waypoints. Hahaha. Perishable means a skill that you can lose if you don’t use it often. Denmark rocks!!!!!
