Nice clear and concise comparison between SD and CF-A - thanks! The benefits don't justify the price for me, even with this new "budget friendly" 1TB CF-A from Angelbird.
For my personal photography, I'd probably pick up one or two of the 1TB cards and just reuse them. For professional work, I just hate the idea of reusing cards so much. Honestly, if I'm not in a situation that rides the buffer hard (or needs a high bitrate video), I'd feel more comfortable with UHS-I cards so that I can afford to keep them dedicated to that job until delivery. It's an extra set of backups (can't have enough), plus it keeps the usage on the cards lower. All that being said, if you need the speed, you need the speed. And this is such a good price point. (And I hope this "inspires" the other makers to drop their prices)
My answer for fastest transfer to computer for cfexpress type A is not via transfer card cases readers like sony or others brand name .just take a usbc c cable and transfer directly from camera its about 100 time faster than any other methods
Just got this card and it doesn't work in our FX6 so not please with it. Says Cannot Use Media (A) Unsupported File System and it won't give me the option to format the card. Any suggestions?
SD vs. SX : Do these distinctions apply to Angelbird's 1tb CFexpress Type-A cards ? Thanks !!! (..Looking for best 1Tb ..Type-A specificaly/only for the just released Sony A1 mark 2 (not for its video modes).) Thanks in advance again :-)
An Angelbird ssd for a ninja v is the only ssd in my entire family which has ever failed. Which is incredible considering it costs 2-4 times more than a normal computer ssd with superior spec. It’s possible it was atomos ninjas fault but the error was kangaroo sign which is media too slow and skipping frames. I think Angelbird should be more transparent about who provides the memory as they don’t manufacture it themselves.
Magic 🪄 man keeping us on top of the latest gear. How often do you wipe/format cards? What is your workflow for keeping backups until you deliver galleries!? Did you make this video already, is it something you offer in your course? The people neeeeed to know.
How about Angelbird AV PRO MK2 SD Card - V60-512GB - SDXC UHS-II ? I'm considering this solution for myself... Same speeds as I already have, but no more stress about not having enough storage. 512GBs would be more than enough for shooting a whole day wedding in 4K 50fps and 120fps. I think it's the most affordable solution as they cost 170euros each.
Waiting for a 512 version around the 250 buck mark. Would be perfect. Hopefully they make one soon. Great video recently also purchased myself a Sony A7RV. Not waiting to get a Tamron 35-150 😅
Any update on overheating with this card? I have heard that CF A cards are hotter than SD cards and even SD cards can overheat a a7iv for long interviews/weddings
It's amazing, but I'm waiting for the 512GB version and have 2x and have the camera ALWAYS dual record. Even 512GB is kinda an overkill when shooting in XAVC HS H.265 and not all-intra. I have the Sony 160GB and this makes me happy, but even 160GB was a bit too big.
Wish camera manufacturers would stop it with the crazy expensive storage. A terabyte of professional, long lasting, high speed ssd storage costs roughly 100 dollars. At this point I wouldn’t mind cameras having a m.2 ssd slot. I can’t imagine paying 2000 dollars for 400 dollars of memory. You can get an a7iv for that.
WARNING ABOUT THIS CARD: Something I didn't see on any TH-cam video or on product pages from distributors is that the Angelbird cards are not universally compatible with their card form factor. After buying the 1TB CF Express Type A card I found it is incompatible with the A7RV and you have to go to Angelbird's site to see a device compatibility list which is something nobody would expect to need to do and would likely only see it if buying direct from Angelbird.
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer Oh interesting. Mine doesn't work in my camera at all. It'll show in the memory card symbol "--E-" with no way to format in camera. When I contacted the seller they pointed out that Angelbird has a camera compatibility list which doesn't include the A7RV, but it works fine in my A7IV which is in their compatibility list.
@@ashbash159 this is really weird, I believe it’s not on the list because they have not updated the website….? Did you try contacting Angelbird directly? I wonder what will they say. But it’s weird it’s working on A7IV for you… I have two A7RV and it works fine on both
These cards are absolute game changers. Just waiting for something smaller than 1tb. 500 or 250 would be perfect.

I feel you 100%! This card is amazing value, but still 1TB is kinda overkill for most of us. I’m waiting for 250GB version for 125$!
Good to see prices for CF type A cards coming down. Just wished there was a 500GB version!
Yeah that would be legit

So with just one card of these on my A7Siii I’ll be fine for videos right
I use the Angelbird 1TB CF typ A on A7lV for long shoots with 10P/s by Sportphotography! It's great!

I’m curious how fast the USBc cable capture from in camera would be. I know you mentioned the convenience of no reader
Super slow! I’ll check again, but as I remember it was around 100MB/s (vs 500-800 in reader)
Can you read the angelbird card with the sony reader? Or you need to buy the angelbird reader too?
I lost my data from the Angelbird type A 330GB card. It just shows "Unable to display," and the file disappears after restarting the camera.
I used two or three weeks now. I love it.

Dear Tim, I format cards each week :) I use 4x 256GB Sony Tough cards. Backup to computers SSD and my NAS and to cloud and then format 🔥
Does THAT video exist?! Show us your workflow homie. We love you.

I’m curious about the thermals (will it overheat a a7iv for an interview)
Hi. Pleese help. I want buy your preesets. But! I am from Slovakia. And VAT its 8$. Can i click to region ,,UK” but i got it cheaper? Thanks
Yeah, I need to charge VAT to EU customers.

Zero overheating, I’ve been rocking two of these as backup on two of my A7RV with no problems at all
Na "polskim" Amazonie tej karty niestety nie ma, ale jest w kilku sklepach. Nawet do dzisiaj była promocja przy zakupie karty czynik gratis.
W Polsce są w sklepie dystrybutora foto-technika, link w opisie!

Can't you just connect the camera to the computer?
Super slow
You can't compare a 80 GB with a 1 TB because the reader has to go trough the whole card that's why the smaller card reads faster! Get it?
Ciekawe ile by zajęło zgranie z tej karty ale przez aparat nie czytnik?
5-6x wolniej
I'd say 500GB and half of the price just be perfect for both video and still
I can see this being Beneficial for a sports photographer or videographer but as a event photographer this is pointless. Who shoots that much. 😂🤣
Yeah wouldn’t be needed for event photography
good point, plus imagine if 1tb of data got corrupt.
and theyre gone!
