    I can listen to this song over and over. I just reminisce about old times with mom & dad and how great life was in North America back then. Today, it makes me cry.

    Some of those Jarvis shots hit hard, esp. the one at Carlton.☹
    4:42 Parliament & Gerrard looking NE (apparently ca. 1978) is actually looking NE from below Dundas. Minor quibble, though. The two shots were taken from the very same spot, which is the important thing. Thanks for the upload.

    At 6.09, that's Yonge and Elm Street, sign on the far right. Steele's Tavern, sign on the left, east side of Yonge Street, had the distinction of later being sandwiched between A and A Records and Sam the Record Man. Gord Lightfoot also played there early in his career. Further south, on the same east side, is the sign "Downtown," probably for the Downtown movie theatre, which was close to Queen Street. Saw "The Thomas Crown Affair there in September of 1968. Thanks for your work.

    Fabulous! Love the last few photos for sure. As as student, I lived right on Yonge St. at Elm (East side) in the mid 90's in a fun 2 story Victorian building above a hair dresser....3 doors up from the Zanzibar. Fun times! Used to be a "booze can" before it was renovated I think. People would ring the bell at all hours.....Just the façade left now...and some old dusty photos....

    Neil? Great work and fantastic mellow music to boot. I was born and raised in Etobicoke (Islington Area) in the mid 1950s...all this stuff is really touching to me now as I reside in Calgary and I really appreciate the memories now more than ever. Keep up,the great work. Deeply Appreciated...

    Great, as always, Neil. Thank you :)
    If it's of interest to you. Before Hwy 401, when Hwy #2 was a main thoroughfare, my parents told me that Kingston Rd., and Lakeshore W., were popular stopovers for tourists, travelling through Toronto. Any pictures?

    • @davidimrie239
      @davidimrie239 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All the motels were along Lakeshore West (Lakeshore Road) and Kingston Road. Before construction of the Gardiner, Highway 2 entered Toronto from the west via Lakeshore Road. It was linked to Queen Street, which was Highway 2 through the downtown area, then along Kingston Road where it continued east.

    At 5:46 you will see the cars have a blue license plates. The next year it would probably be white as every year back then until the early seventies we got new plates. What a pain. That at least is good progress.
