I'm french and this movie came out in theaters last week, I've seen it and thought it was absolutely wonderful. Jacques Audiard is a very acclaimed director in France, he won many prizes at festivals for his movies (especially in Cannes film festival and the Cesar (= french Oscars). He usually makes social dramas, talking about jail (A Prophet), immigration (Dhee Pan) or in Emilia Perez the gender identity and the cartel problem in Mexico. The cast is wonderful and deserves their prize at Cannes. The songs are amazing. Go see it! It won't be for everyone but it's a unique experience and in my opinion a masterclass movie.

The whole female cast won the best actress prize. That doesn't usually happen.
