Think of CDs as more like collectibles in the Asian music scene. They include special photo cards, stickers, other exclusive items, and in this case, special codes for autographed merch and online meet and greets (sorta like Willy Wonka's golden tickets). There's often special member-specific versions of each release and hardcore fans will buy them all to have the complete set.
Thanks for continuing to “just hit record”. I watched this already and thoroughly enjoyed it again with you.
Most younger fans are buying the cd’s for the photo cards and sometimes for posters. Photo books help round out the package. This release is a bit slim because it’s just one track, but the larger EP’s and albums can have some amazingly creative design. For me the draw is usually the stickers ;-)
On the subject of cd players, they hide in the weirdest places. Mine are in the car, blu-ray player and i have one to plug into the computer somewhere. FWIW I have been told that some cd’s offer secret tracks that aren’t available online, but I haven’t ripped any of mine to see if that’s the case. (Higher bitrate is a nice idea-saw that in another comment)

This video was shot after a series of video interviews with radio stations, that's why they were just sitting on a set and looking all pinkish. Not sure why they posted this CD unboxing a week after it's release. They need to press a certain amount of CDs in order to be on the Billboard chart based on sales so Alphaz needs to support these girls by buying their discs if you want them to chart. There's a series of videos that Tom Macdonald posted how he was doing this but Billboard won't recognize the sales since he self distributes instead of going through recognized channels. He literally had to create his own distribution company in order to work around this requirement. XG is currently running tv show stages circuit now doing live performances. Countdown recording seems to be decent and some are fixed cameras. Street Fighter Women dance crew are cameos as backup dancers but good thing XG are wearing different fits because they're all shaped very similar as dancers. I don't think these girls won't be ready for solo recordings for at least another 2-3 years. Chisa and Jurin would most likely be the first ones to drop solo singles followed by Cocona. Chisa seems to be more interested in producing than she is about soloing though, but you never know. I think Maya got in trouble for showing a code to the lottery and she was kinda pouting about it lol.
That's interesting. If you look at it strictly from a marketability standpoint- they're all hyper talented- but I thin Hinata has a look that people are drawn to.. I could be wrong.
@@zack_reacts Hinata is like the wild card in the group. She can easily release a single whenever she feels like it, the girl can flex. She seems to do things on her own a lot so no doubt she would drop a single tomorrow if she wanted to.
Maya is not mad at all, she was going to show a code for buyers of the CD to the camera and Cocona tried to cover it. The code is for a special drawing to do a fan chat with Alphaz
Either CoCo scolded Maya off camera or staff was not happy Maya being over excited about the code. There was a very slight edit of Maya's enthusiasm shifting really quickly though.

i bought 10 lol. seriously though usually the cds for a mini ep and albums come with photobooks so if you're a fan that's a must but i get what you mean the cd's probably don't get used much. i rip them to get a high quality file that is much better than most streaming services. so there is value in that as well
I think you understand how I feel.
I've never supported a girl group before, and to be honest, it never occurred to me that I would be supporting a girl group.
I thought buying a CD was out of the question, but their artwork is amazing.
So I bought it.
I still have the CDs, vinyl, and cassettes because I like to collect and display my old favorites.
If their CD designs had been pretty, I wouldn't have bought them.
But I like XG because the art is always cool and they seem to know how we feel.
Maybe I saw it wrong, but I think Maya also wanted to show something to the camera, just like the others, something that only she could show. Unfortunately, she showed the half of the paper where the code was located, but this was skillfully washed away with post-production, but the others tried to cover it up and told him not to show it. I think that since she is one of the youngest among them, she still has some childlike reflexes, which I think is perfectly fine at her age. Because of this, she may have been saddened for a while, because she thought she had done something wrong. What is most interesting to me is Cocona, as far as I know she is the youngest, but she is an extremely serious lady, and I could be wrong, but I think she is also very smart. I was very happy with the little video, it's so nice to see so many smiling beautiful beautiful girls enjoying a simple but great CD, which I think has become one of their greatest songs.
Even today, buying cd’s and merch has the most impact on their bottom line. naturally fans should buy as much as possible to keep them going. plus for music like XG’s, uncompressed cd audio can be a whole different listening experience if you have the equipment and ears for that

You get photo cards if you order. I bought 10 in hopes to get all 7 members cards. Still missing Harvey and Hinata. 😢

No one listens to CDs anymore, but in K pop/J pop idol world, fans buy them in order to support their idol groups. People buy them not for the actual CD but for 1 trading card that's included in the package - there are multiple different cards for each member depending on where you buy the CD from and the version of it, so fans end up buying as many CDs as they can for their collection. Yea, it's insane. Some crazy(& rich) fans buy hundreds.of them for one freaking song😱
Trading cards are often included in other merch too.. So even if you're like me - I was never into k pop, was never interested in those cards, you eventually find yourself owning a few cards, and before you know it, you just somehow end up collecting them like other fans, cuz hey..the girls look so cute n attractive in them, it's literally hard to stay indifferent, lol. And plus, you want to support the group you're stanning in whatever way you can So.. that's how the industry works... like it or not.
