At about 20 minutes in he actually says: Al Alcorn designed pong. I keep saying that, but it won't matter. He feels attributing the invention to Bushnell is wrong.
I would like to take issue with everything he said at the end about Showbiz Pizza Place. His ego won't let him admit that the Rock-afire Explosion kicked his New Jersey rat's ass and he didn't just get tired of winning. He was booted out of CEC in 1984 for egregious mismanagement. And he lied about winning the law suit. It was settled for a quarter of what he claims to have won. Poor guy. I'm glad I turned him down when he asked me to sell him my characters in 1977 and then my company in 1978. I knew he couldn't be trusted. And I wouldn't trust a word of this entire speech. His claim to have founded 18 companies is probably an exaggeration, but whatever the number is, you can bet the investors all lost their money in every one.
Wtf he not the father. He copied of others then got sued and had to pay and made money of others ideas. He or atari was sued many times due to copying others Yeah he ran the company well , but there beginings were copying others So he is not the father of games but the fathers of getting weallthy of others who made the first crt games
rip up the railway? sorry but how on earth would that be more efficient? any idea how much a train can haul compared to a car, i like Nolan but that is the most idiotic thing ive heard in awhile
8:53 "Success is the ability to move from one failure to another with no loss of ENTHUSIASM" Winston Churchill
One of the best speeches, Thank you Nolan and Google.
Incredibly underrated. I hope it does see some love from the TH-cam algorithm in the future
Never expected such profound life lessons from Nolan like this. Seriously.
10:30 Man, this is incredibly deep. I've had this thought for quite a long time, I never expected this to be echoed by a video game developer!
I love Nolan. HIs comment about the morons procreating is spot on. It's literally the beginning of Idiocracy.
Thanks to Google for sharing these talks on TH-cam. I have really enjoyed all the ones I've watched so far.
Nolan is a legend.
"You don't have quarter inch pixels because you thinks it cool." So true but we still had fun.
