loved the drilling holes in pennies for washers story, more recently, when Canada had the penny, they were zinc, with copper plating, I had a House in British Columbia with a flat roof that was prone to growing Moss. At the local hardware they sold Zinc pellets for moss control for $20 for a half kilo (plus tax). At the time 200 pennies weighed a half Kilo. I used the pennies on the roof.
As a boy I was given a ring much like the one you saw on Guys finger. I was always told it's a male cameo, not sure how correct that is. I'm wearing it as I write this

Speaking of gold in the rugs. I seen a man on TH-cam in the gold and diamond district in New York, clean out the cracks in the sidewalks outside of the jewelry shops. He found small gems, gold, and silver in his cleanouts.
I heard that after he put out some of those video's " someone " had him arrested.

I teach art and always will put on a Bob Ross video before class. The students are mesmerized by him and he calms them down. They all laugh when he cleans his brush and "beats the devil out of it." Ross is Boss!

As aside, I walked back to the bus from the coin dealer and on the way I went by Marhalls, Kohls and saw 3 restaurants and they all had big signs advertising for NEW employees which said they would pay people $19.50 an hour and all the way up to $31 an hour.
This is driving restaurant food prices through the roof !
At Nations Hamburgers about a mile away, we would go there for the yummy strawberry tarts but I used to buy a chili burger for $3.95.
Now its $10.50 not including tax or a drink or fries in the combo.
We stopped going there after the last meal as our bill was over $45.
We had been going to Nations for over 40 years.
Of course, the state of California keeps pushing for what they call a LIVING wage.
Nevada just raised their minimum wage to $13 an hour for uninsured workers and $10.50 for insured workers.
When I worked the most I ever made was $9 an hour.
I am on SSI now and cannot afford to go out and eat dinner with my girlfriend unless I put it on a charge card.
We have been going out together since our first date on Halloween 46 years ago.
Wage demands are driving those who make less or who are on a fixed income out of going to restaurants.
It’s really sad. Most of these entry level fast food restaurants are starting pay higher then some of our first responders make!

I also have a very worn V nickel which fascinates me.
I have around $3,000 in silver.
I started buying silver at $5 an ounce 17 years ago.

Winston Churchill actually got Britain on the Gold Standard back in the early 1900's until it was revoked. They actually found they were worse off and progress slowed, due to the fact of unavailable public funds, well of course if something that is in such open demand, it makes sense to buy them all up. And thats what happened, all the pieces got took off the table real early in the game and nobody could do anything

Yes. Guy is right. I just replaced carpet in an International Diamond and gold store. We put the carpet into bins and they sent it somewhere to have the diamonds and precious metals reclaimed. I thought it was crazy until I seen all the stuff that was lost into the carpet.

I’m a frequent viewer. I feel compelled to share an experience at my bank. Earlier today I sent my wife to my bank to exchange 2 $20 bills for 3 rolls of quarters and 10 rolls of Pennies. They gave her the third degree. Asked if she had an account there and she said no. She told them I had sent her just to buy the coins as I am disabled. They didn’t want to let her have them because she didn’t have her name on an account there. My wife has an account at a different bank. That way we can keep our bookkeeping straight, but this is the first time in my life that a customer at the bank is questioned and almost denied a service trying to exchange cash for cash! The manager called me at home to inform me of these bank rules. This leads me to believe that the coins are far more valuable than the paper twenties! We are going to test our other local banks to see if they give us the same treatment. My bank told us there were bank rules that they had to follow regarding this situation.

Coin guy is the King of Koins.
I went to my coin dealer to renew one of my loans and it is nice they finally have silver and gold to sell.
I looked at a really TINY 20 peso Mexican coin and they said it cost $280 dollars.
It was about 1/10th the size of a dime but it was gold.
While I was there a couple bought a REAL Louis Vitton purse.
I asked one of the employees what one costs new.
They said $3-5000 dollars which boggled my mind.
They take them in for loans.
My girlfriend has lots of purses but I dont think she would ever buy one that expensive even if she had the money.
I would be afraid someone would mug me for it were I a woman because they would think you have money if you can afford the purse.
I would spend $3k on a new Silicon Mac mini but not a purse.
Prestige craziness.

Love the videos. I've watched so many of Guy's videos I feel like I know him. One thing though he really should get someone to help him with his website. A lot of the pictures are out of focus and 60% of the items are marked " sold" . How can you sell online with most off the stuff not available.

What I've read is that Yellow bought too many companies and has been doing that since about 2000, and they went into debt because of that, and then they had to pay back the US government this year for the $700 million pandemic loan it had received in 2020, but they tried to blame the union for their problems.
That is what happened. I’m from Pittsburgh and a lot of good drivers I dealt with lost their jobs. It’s a real shame. I feel for their families.
