Thank you for this. I had NO idea this could be done. Doing some vMix SRT research and came across you! This will help so much! Sometimes I have issues with NDI but now using SRT to communicate... this opens up sooooooooo many options. Tha ks man! Officially subscriber 614 😊
I wish you would explain how to do the port forwarding and that side of you seeing SRT. Getting your public IP address. I have Google Fiber and no real router to speak of. It is a mesh and apparently the port forwarding is on my phone. If you can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. Thank you for your video.
Hi, great video. The problem I have is that, when OBS finishes to stream to vMix (i.e.: the live stops), vMix goes on streaming for ever, instead. Is there a way to stop vMix stream as well?
Yes you can. Turn on SRT ouptut in vMix, and set to "Caller" with the IP of your vMix machine. In OBS > Add a "Media Source", uncheck "local file" and set enter this for the source: "srt://%ip:%port%?mode-listener'" Change IP and Port to your OBS machine, and you can receive an SRT feed. You'll need to forward the port through your firewall to your OBS machine.
They would also be on OBS and use your external IP along with port you set and load that into the media source on their end. As long as you're streaming, they can view it.

OBS can receive SRT video as well. I'll do another video on that.

This is great, been looking for it. Can it work when OBS and Vmix are on different networks?

My question as always. Please this is a major factor so what is the solution to this question
Do you have the reference for the background video you are using, I have been looking for it but cant find anything
Did you do the other way around? Streaming from vMix to OBS?
Yes you can. Turn on SRT ouptut in vMix, and set to "Caller" with the IP of your vMix machine.

Can i use udp in custom stream settings??
But in external ip means out of the network how much latency will it be ?
If you have multiple guests how are you sending return feed back to them?
They would also be on OBS and use your external IP along with port you set and load that into the media source on their end. As long as you're streaming, they can view it.
great, thanks!
Hi!
Great tutorial! Unfortunately I can make it work within local network, but I cannot with the public IP. Can you or anyone help me with this?
tell your broadband operator to give (SNAT IP) (srt://snat ip or public IP:port)
Hi nice
