      Yes, the celebration video also was a great one. And so strategically smart to focus on beginners.. of which there are far more than really good jazz piano players...thus you positioned youself well for the next 100k. Don't worry about not knowing to who you should send the reward: the reward is that this person gets your new videos automatically in her/his inbox from now on.

    Great video! Just one question: what do you do with your left hand when soloing without a bass player or drummer? How do you provide the harmonic background without losing the energy or taking away from the right hand?

      @@abbesatty9498 If you watch the original video (see link in description) it was played w/o a backing track, so it covers more of the solo piano techniques. Hello Kent, you are such a great teacher. May I ask you something about concepts of jazz. I do not know if you are playing smooth jazz, or either laughing. But I would like to know the differences between the standard vs. the smooth jazz style, like the piano players like Brian Culbertson or Jeff Lorber are playing. Maybe you can help me out with your knowledge

    • @KentHewittpiano88
      @KentHewittpiano88  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Traditional jazz (mainstream) has a swing beat in terms of the rhythm. Smooth jazz, while it has be-bop roots in terms of concepts and improvisation, is played with a funk rhythm or straight 8th notes, for the most part. It's associated with pop dance music or the mowtown sound. So it has to do with how the bass player and drummer play. So it has to do more with the rhythmic feel. Surprisingly smooth jazz is, for the most part, more popular to the public than straight ahead jazz. ...who knows why..... It's simpler to understand?
