Ukraine proved to be the best strategist looking at what they were able to do in those years in war with Ratia The UK ought to be ashamed to question Ukraine and to hold back their aid like this ! !!
The correct answer here would have been. "so what?". It would be an accident. The military targets being referred to here are assets that Russia is using to actively target civilians on a daily basis. Those glide bombs that the Ukraine has been hitting lately are being used against apartment blocks and other civilian infrastructure with an explicit goal to do as much damage as they can. By doing this, Russia has opened itself to being a legitimate target itself. If in the process of targeting those legitimate targets some collateral damage occurs, that's just the price of doing business for Russia. It would be a tragic but otherwise a very minor incident in this war. And the Ukrainians are showing both remarkable capability and restraint in using what they have. Striking deep into Russia with drones and their own rockets. There's no way the Russians are going to start a nuclear war over such an incident unless they had already decided to start one anyway in which case the incident would not be the cause but merely the excuse for such a response. And there's the simple fact that they are under a lot of pressure not to and that they are tolerating a Ukrainian occupation of the Kursk region which is being occupied with British, American and German tanks. All fine. No red lines are being crossed here, apparently. Starting a nuclear war over some collateral damage would be irrational. The only red line that's being crossed here is Russia putting the nuclear threat on the table at all. That needs an answer because it's a threat to all of us. An appropriate answer would be removing any restraints on missile usage for the Ukrainians and guaranteeing an endless supply of these things until Russia backs down and withdraws to its own territory. I think what's happening here is that the west is slowly warming up to the notion that this is going to happen and actually needs to happen. Just like the F16s happened, tanks got delivered, and HIMARS ended up being used.
Fully agree. His questioning is straight out of the University of russian troll's journalism degree handbook. Rookie, pushing a pro russian rhetoric. Which side is he on? Annoying.
Pathetic question and he wouldn't let go. There is always a risk of civilian collateral casualties in a war, and Ukraine is constantly trying to minimize those as it's in their best interest and not to lose support. One could argue that not allowing Ukraine to strike in Russia will create many more civilians casualties in Ukraine as Russia is systematically targeting civilans in Ukraine.
As a uk citizen I wish the UK would give permission. The quote “there is always a chance” of civilian injury ignores the number of dead Ukrainian civilians that continue to die for not giving permission. Ukrainian can guarantee hundreds of time more civilians will die as a result of Russian attacks not stopped by storm shadow.
@@TheSkaffenthats been the apologetics response since the very start, not giving missiles, not giving tanks, not giving F16, not crossing into Russian territory, all eventually happened, and what was the response? Nothing more than what theyve already been doing
“We can’t guarantee that they (missiles) hit civilian targets.” Poor question. You can never guarantee anything, except for death and taxes, as the saying goes. What Ukraine has shown, though, is that they don’t bomb civilian targets on purpose. Give Ukraine all tools allowed in the playbook to win this war. And ramp up production of munitions. The Russian regime won’t have a chance against a united west, even if they are playing their game outside of the rules.
Putin would be less concerned if a civilian target was hit than a military target. Ukraine is already attacking military and industrial targets with long range drones. What can Putin do? Russia has more reason to fear conflict with NATO than anyone.
eah, Zelenskyy Kursk misadventure ground to a screeching halt and caused staggering Ukrainian losses (as expected Ukrainian troops are completely exposed to Russian air-strikes and drone-strikes outside of defensive positions), but Ukrainians are stuck. Erratic Zelenskyy is obsessed with media hype, his DC handlers are obsessed with Kamala campaign and Syrsky is obsessed with his career (keeping his position even for one more week is more important for him than lives of all Ukrainian soldiers put together). All of them are just reinforcing the failure as they did in Bakhmut, Krinki or a publicly announced failed Zelenskyy offensive in 2023. Meanwhile vital Ukrainian positions at the actual front where the war is decided are crumbling.

Agree comments below from "M" below. War is by its nature risky. Like mr. Fesko said. Ukraine is concerned about military targets only. This is purely self-defense. Ukraine should therefore be in a position to use the weapons they have been supplied with. Harping on along this line of questioning serves absolutely no sensible purpose under these circumstances.

It's ridiculous to tie one arm around the back of these folks who are fighting for their very existence. The only guarantee you'll get by not allowing them to use these weapons strategically is that you'll prolong the war indefinitely increasing the very odds of some tragic mistake occurring. War is war, we should never be in this position in the first place but life’s a chance in itself so to end the war we should give them a chance to hit military targets that are targeting civilians in Ukraine. Giving them the weapons in itself was a chance we took but to then say you can’t hit military targets is pointless. He himself said they need to hit the source not just clear up the aftermath of attack.
Ukraine pushing in Russia while losing more eastern Ukraine territory isn't a good trade off.. the only land in dispute is in Ukraine, does anyone doubt Russia will not recapture every inch of Russian territory one way or the other?
Why does he keep killing his own people? If he just goes home, nothing will happen. The west is not going to invade we did not care untill he attacked ukraine. What is wrong with him. Is he mad?
I am getting so sick of times interviewers laboring on and on these points of escalation. Similarly in the border areas where they are allowed to fire they could hit civilian targets. I don't believe the problem is that these interviewers don't want us to use storm shadow, they're just looking for questions, but unfortunately these questions completely and utterly skewed towards Russian narratives
I know the host is just trying to play devil's advocate and all, but when you are wrong, admit it and move on, don't let it become about your ego. The point of devil's advocate is to test the strength of a position.
Why stop at this. tell this also right, In 2 months Zelenskys troops will be in Moscow & Putin tried in The Hague. Times radio when you do propaganda it has to at least sound and look convincing and real.

If they did, would that cause Russia to attack the West/NATO militarily? 3. If they did would that spill out of the region and draw in countries on Russia's side? 1. Is unlikely but possible. 2. Would be a very questionable move by Russia since they can't even handle Ukraine at this point. 3. Seems even less likely since Russia vs Ukraine and NATO would be a severe mismatch which I can't see any other country wanting to be directly a part of (on Russia's side that is).
