Thanks for the introduction to Yaqi brushes. I bought two: a really cool synthetic and the one in this video. The one in this video is a monster. I can't believe how much lather it produces. I don't have any brushes that are in the $200 or $300 range, but I an't imagine how they could be much better than this one.

I have a 58 Fatboy, every time I used it was like a scene from Dexter. I realized the adjustment plate was frozen in the most open position. Boiled it for an hour, then soaked it in CLR overnight. Next day everything worked as it should. Because I had been so badly butchered in the past I set it on 3 with a feather blade. Very carefully did a 3 pass and had a great shave. Next time I'll try a Shark blade, now that the adjustment plate works and I'm not nearly as afraid of it. Great video Ken, always look forward to them.

Excellent as always Ken very classic combo Tabac was the very first shaving soap I ever used and British Sterling was another one of my go to favorites back in the day. I am very impressed with both the affordability and the quality of YaQi brushes and I love the look of that amber colored handle.

I learned to traditional wet shave from Daddy, and just got back into it the past few months. I unpacked Daddy's razors and my old ones (I'm what you call "vintage" myself). I've cleaned up several of them to use. The razors I got from Daddy and the ones I bought are now selling for big bucks.
I also use Daddy's 1959 (E-4) Fat Boy. It's in amazing shape, looks like it just came out of the case (which I also have). Daddy was sort of OCD when it came to taking care of his razors and anything else he owned.

I kid you not, Ken. I shaved this morning with my 1960 Fatboy on setting 5 with a brand new Derby blade. Cut the crap out of myself due to negligence. Lessoned learned. Other than that, I got the closest, 3 pass shave of my life. Didn't even have to shave this morning (but I did). I have 3 Fatboys and I'm glad I purchased each and every one of them. That takes me back Ken. My parents bought me a bottle of British Stirling engraved with my initials when I was in high school....good memories. Also, if I'm not mistaken, James Bond shaved with a Slim Adjustable (my favorite vintage Gillette) in Goldfinger.

I have my moms birth year fat boy (1959), my dad’s birth year Gillette (1948), and my birth year black beauty (1983). Unfortunately, I rarely use them because the Parker Variant shaves too well

I am very sad because as of watching this video, I've now seen every single one that you've uploaded and will have to be awaiting each new video with eager anticipation! Absolutely love the content you are putting out, Ken. I wish my father was into all of the cool things you are and really hope your kids realize how lucky they are to have you. Also, I know you've mentioned it in previous videos and in my opinion, I think 15 - 20 mins long is the perfect length. Not too short but not as long as an episode of Game of Thrones either (nothing wrong with the channels that post 40min videos but too long for me, personally). Good shave Ken. I use alum during every shave, just helps my skin tremendously. Amazing how something older than you by years....uh yeah....still performs the way it was designed to. The Gillette Fat Boy that is... fantastic vintage Americana. Tabac is a mainstay for me, performance and scent are super good. British Sterling still smells the same to me as it did years ago... could be different but still nice. Another great video Ken. Enjoy!

Nice and yeah I only use shaving stick when I'm out traveling along with that small 15 mm shaving brush that I got about 7 years ago. Saves space in my dopp case.

I literally, audibly gasped when I heard "Twilight Zone pinball machine." That is one of my all-time favorite machines. ALWAYS wanted one of my own. You don't see them much in the wild anymore. I spoke with an arcade rep once and they told me the reason for that is they are supposedly a bit much to maintain, so people just lightly use them in private ownership anymore.

Thanks for trying out the Tabac again. I did find exactly the same issues. It dries out pretty fast, and for the second pass, I struggled to make a lather. I guess I should use ken's hack from now on 😄

Great shave Ken, I've finally got round to trying one of your favourite blades the Gillette Wilkinson swords. I can see why you like them, I've had two very decent shaves from one so far, a nice mild blade not as sharp as I like but I did get carried away with with a feather in my Ming Shi at the weekend so mild was what I was looking for 😉

Thanks for the video, Ken. I was trying to decide which razor to use tonight. I think I'll use my Fatboy, Arko shave soap and Aramis Face Balm. I'd love to see another video of you using vintage aftershaves, balms, soaps etc. i love the vintage stuff. I have an antique Wilkinson razor I am dying to use but I need to see if I can get the blades a bit sharper. Looking forward to the next video.

2015...has it really been that long? I have good news,..or bad news. My stick of Tabac smells pretty much just as it did back then, still pretty potent! Indeed a classic shave soap, and it can take a fair bit of water if you start with a thicker layer of soap.
Those Yaqi badgers really are very nice brushes, and I am quite confident that any lingering animal scent will have entirely eliminated, perhaps even replaced, by wafts of Tabac :-)

Hey Ken loved this video it was awesome👍. Haven't seen you use the Anne Bonny soap for a long time, could you do another shave with it. Maybe with some old spice aftershave. I personally love that combo, goes well together. The Fatboy is hard to beat, it gets my neck trouble spots better than my Variant and that says something.

Hi Ken. I just scored an E4 Fatboy and was super excited to get it. I've shaved with it a couple of times on setting 3, but can't seem to get a shave where it doesn't feel like it's dragging across my face. I loaded a Feather both times. Any suggestions? It's a beautiful razor, but I just can't seem to get it to work for me so far. I normally shave with a Merkur 38c. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hey ken, I was wondering if you could do a side by side shave with your merkur 34c and 34g and in one use a persona lab blue in one and a Gillette 7'oclock super stainless in the other. I've heard people say they are very similar in sharpness and smoothness. Just wanting to see if you can tell a difference. Just try it yourself… after all YMMV and what he thinks could be different than what you’ll experience with your skin and technique. Honestly I have both an the Persona Lab blues are the best balance of sharp and smooth. Lab blues are almost feather sharp but way smoother IMO. I’m using the Persona Med Prep and from what I know they’re the same as lab blues except they’re pre sanitized or something. Can’t go wrong with lab blues

How many times do you shave a week Ken? I love to shave but I have one damn spot on my left side ( I am right handed ) that I still get a little razor burn . I know it is me , to much pressure. So now I can not shave for a few days . I quess i will go back to shaving only 2 times a week . Great video as always .

I always splash cold water on , then use the alum block. Leave it a minute , then rinse it off with cold water . I got this off of geofatboy . Am I wrong ? You did not rinse it off .

Hey Ken! I think you can get the Gillette super thins (made in Thailand) in a 6 pack version -get one free- and you can order a whole stick of 120 blades on razorbladesclub.com. I believe it is a small store located in Germany and they have more blades to choose from than I have ever seen. Good prices too.. Though I do not know if they will ship to the U.S., I have used them here in Denmark and everyting is top notch.
