    Here is a tip for you. I always leave a small signature on what I do. To make sure the returned item is done by me. Place small sticker (one time use only type) on the screws.

    This is why I say mark the board repaired use a simple date and some initial to have what is change from you, is easy to move the board to another case and say is in warranty repair for free.
    Protect yourself from scam.
    1/1/22 Bq
    (changed Bq chip) for example.
    Now people buy stuff marked "for parts only" For nothing and try to get rich. (This is why more "for parts only" Have a hole (drill hole) in the board some people gets mad when recibes all off stuff and is impossible repair but is listed "for parts only" And you have parts a lot of parts.

    You might want to invest in some ultra fine soldering paste you would an easier time with your soldering then using an iron. When I was in the military we would use it even when we technically were not supposed to because we could basically put it on and run a heat gun for a few seconds and then we would be done. Alternatively you could also use an extrusion soldering iron but those are something that is very hard to use without lots of practice.

    Murphy's law: whatever can happen, will happen! When you repair a customers Laptop, Switch, PS4, etc, do you keep a short record of what the problem was, diagnosis, & actions taken? Thanks with your skill & expertise, you wouldn't leave flux like that..

    • @TheCod3r
      @TheCod3r  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah generally, but after 3 months I remove the record because I don't want to be responsible for data leaks. As soon as the warranty is up I remove the info from my logs

    Why don't you do what us watchmakers do and using a bit of blue sharpie create a small area and using a scribe put in codes for items changed or service done and your setups initials which down the line will aid you if you get it back but also if someone sells it on and another place picks up on the device, knowing your initials they can buzz your email asking what codes mean what so they don't end up repeating stuff that don't need doing.

    My theory is that you repair board 3 months ago, they replace motherboard and try to get other board repair under warranty. If there is some barcode / serial number on the board you should note them. If customer will return item to warranty that got different motherboard, you can go to Police station to report fraud.

    Trick I use to get pads to sit flat when u need jumpers is to use a sharp spike tool or the back of a soldering knife tool to gouge a line for the wire to sit in, it can just give you that fraction of a millimetre to get a better fit...

    Loving the videos
    You really need to start taking catalogue of device serial numbers or get yourself a set of mini QR stickers to stick on the device when you work on them.
    It may seem pointless but it will avoid any doubt and also allow you to warranty your work effectively with tamper seals to show if the boards been out. Just a thought.
