    I did it on my 2021 Duke 390 recently and its the best thing i could have done. It's amazing how 1 tooth can make such a difference. My pick up is everything a duke 390 should be. If pick up what you want just do it. I did a complet chain and 2 sprocket change over. 😊😊😊

      So you did a 14 T front sprocket (1 tooth down from stock) and the stock 45t rear sprocket?

    Looking to raise the top speed and cruising speed. Was going to a 15/43 combo. Had a Yoshimura GSX-R 750 ,so fast excelleration is not what I'm looking for out of a 373cc engine, but the RC390 handling makes me want to increase its upper end. You must have hit some slippery stuff in that turn because the ABS and Turning traction controll (2023 ?) Should have kept you tracking. Did a panic front brake stop from 60 and kept traction. Thanks for video! Ride safe!

    • @SeanFillner
      @SeanFillner  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      These bikes do not have a top end increase when you swap gears because of the lack of power to do so. You actually gain top speed by dropping a tooth in the countershaft sprocket. I own 5 of the 373cc powered bikes and they all respond the same.

      Hi, I've got the same bike.
      If you're reducing the no. of teeth on the front sprocket or increasing a few on the rear, you would loose out on a little top speed but consequently gain a proportional amount in terms of acceleration.
      (Try learning about gearing ratios.)
      Hope it helps

      @bacbladerunner 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It changes your final drive from 3:1 to 3.21:1, which will reduce your top speed by about 6 mph (10kph). It will also increase your engine rpm for any given speed, as well as increase fuel consumption a little. But it accelerates faster and is more useable in slow technical offroad use in first gear. It's a trade-off between which performance characteristics are more important to you. Hope this helps you.

    what's the stock teeth count?

  • @stevie9361
    @stevie9361 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    14/45 gives you 99.5mph at 10k redline
    15/45 gives you 106.6mph
    16/45 gives you 113.7mph

    • @SeanFillner
      @SeanFillner  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      On paper it does. You won't get anywhere close to those numbers in real life scenarios. Wind/air resistance and the bikes lack of power/torque will limit those numbers when you go up a tooth on your front sprocket. Several youtubers have proven your top speed is greater using the 14 tooth sprocket on these 373cc powered bikes. These bikes were NEVER meant to travel at that speed. I own 5 of them. Buy a bigger bike if you want to travel at those speeds.

    • @stevie9361
      @stevie9361 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I been riding since 03 an I bought a duke 390 for my son. He's 17. I've personally been 112 on it using a 16tooth an 102 using the 15tooth. That's pretty damn close to what the paper says. I'm in alabama if that makes a damn.
      There is no way in hell that 14 can keep up with a 16. The rev limiter limits it's top speeds.
      An why you owned 5? Lol seems like a waste of money

    • @SeanFillner
      @SeanFillner  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @stevie9361 @stevie9361 physics do not allow you to cut through wind with less torque.
      Don't worry about what I spend my money on. I will own as many bikes as I want and there is nothing you can do about it.

    Does it wheelie clutching up in 2nd now?

    • @SeanFillner
      @SeanFillner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could do that with the stock gearing. Now it is just mental.

  • @ManicSpeed
    @ManicSpeed ปีที่แล้ว

    14t front sprocket vs the stock 15 tooth sprocket offers short gearing, quick acceleration, better tractability or rideability in traffic, this means you can ride 1 gear up and it's much easier to manage, while the losses are, stress on the engine because it revs higher, less fuel efficiency because of low speed while running at the same RPM's as compared to 15t

    • @SeanFillner
      @SeanFillner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have it backwards. The 373cc engine is MOST EFFICIENT at 6500-7500 rpm which is where it sits from 65-80 mph with a 14t front sprocket. It is the main reason I install a 14t sprocket on ALL 373cc powered bikes.

  • @ThatGuyRides
    @ThatGuyRides ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve only been riding for a year and change and I’ve never felt like the RC is a handful even when I first got it you might wanna try hopping on something bigger just to take it for a test drive to give yourself some perspective because in the grand scheme of motorcycles the RC is very very slow.
