Swimming with Turtles in CURACAO

- In this episode we start off in beautiful Willemstad where we were staying. This morning I decided to fly my drone again around this incredibly beautiful city. After breakfast we headed to the western point of the island (about an hour drive) to a beach called Playa Piskado (Fisherman's beach). Here we swam with several fairly large turtles. We left with some mixed feelings because comparing to a few years back, this place has gotten very touristy and we do not know if this is the best for the safety of these beautiful and beloved creatures. Afterwards we had lunch at Playa Forti with my good friend from Curacao Mr. Elton Sint Jago. We continued to Grote Knip were we briefly swam but did not take videos (some are in my previous Curacao series if you are interested). Later that evening we headed for dinner downtown but for that we decided to cross the Emma Bridge (swinging old lady) afoot to admire the beauty of the buildings at night. We dined simple at the Buren situated just across the Curacao sign. Wrapping up the night and this series we headed back via the boat to cross the canal and get back to Otrabanda. We have our first trip to Curacao booked for April. Playa Piskado is on my list as I would like to see turtles, but this was difficult. I've swum with turtles elsewhere, but no chasing/touching was allowed. I'm hoping if we go very early morning and maybe on a day with no cruise ships it might work better? Have you seen turtles when snorkeling at other beaches? Thanks so much, your Curacao videos have been very helpful for planning!
Hello Debbie, thank you for your concern and question. I did spot them at Playa Kenepa Grandi too but it's more sparse.

Grote Knip is a favorite of mine! There were no entrance fees where we were but you might have to pay for chairs/palapas. Playa Porto Mari is also very very nice!
We love Aruba it’s very relax,windy and expensive too.We enjoy it sooo much.We will love to go to curaçao next time❤

What's the best way to get there from the cruise port? Or would you recommend somewhere closer to port?
We love swimming at Grote Knip. Would recommend renting a car. You can also try Blauw Baai (Blue Bay). At some you will have to pay.
What's happenin Hyro? How far is the drive from aruba to curacao?
Hello there, the flight varies from 20 to 30 minutes depending on the type of aircraft.

I couldn't agree with you more about those turtles. when i watched your vid i did not like what i saw. People should get better educated about turtles. I for one would never support this with my money. Aruba has this right, protect them, not exploit. One reason why i will not go and see the Flamingos at palm island. With their wings clipped, so they can't fly away. You can see all the Flamingos you want in Florida in their natural habitat. Looking forward to seeing you and Marleen again in May.

@LetsgowithHyro That's cool. I've eaten fresh water turtles like alligator snapper turtles but never a sea turtle. It's illegal here as well.
