I think the Vindicator is actually quite solid outside of its fairly weak dedication feat. It synergizes really well with domain focus spells that it can grab as additional feats and with a Cleric or Animist multiclass once you can. Additionally, it gets a number of improvements to recall knowledge to make it a very effective monster hunter user.
That's fair. I just think they shouldn't have shipped it as an "Inquisitor replacement", as I don't really get that feeling from it. Thanks for checking out the video BTW!
@@TheDominomicon Well... he kinda is a truthful port of the Inquisitor. He gets some interrogation/investigation feats, he's good at recall knowledge against monsters. The judgement i would say resembles his bane and the mark resembles his destruction judgement. The problem is that the edge can be used sadly only 3 times per combat. And the mark should have been a basic save. At higher levels you can share prey but up until then 3 times/combat is rough.
@@ΒασίληςΒράζας I guess. It's just not fun having to wait so long for some of those abilities when the old one got some of that stuff from level 1. I still think the third party one I mentioned does a better job overall!
Hey slowhost again, just wanna say thanks for another wonderful video. I had the opposite reaction to the playtest where I loved exemplar but wasn't to jazzed with animist, from what I've seen of the book it appears both classes turned out awesome.
Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, I was honestly surprised at how much I liked both classes... I knew Animist would be good, but I didn't realise HOW good BOTH would be in the end. Really glad to have even more class choice, even though we're pretty spoiled as-is!
Hey there! I enjoy your videos, and even went out of my way to check out that book you recommended as well! There's some cool class options in there, but since my group and I use an app for character building, we can't stray too far from the rules lol 😅
Thanks so much, and yeah, that makes sense. My group all uses Pathbuilder and when I see some really cool third-party content, I want to use it, but if it doesn't come with Pathbuilder support... my group won't want to use it! They're too spoiled with delicious online tools, and I can't blame them. Soldiers of the Immortal war does come with Pathbuilder & Foundry support for whatever that's worth (for those reading this comment that missed it in the video).
the Divine Mysteries coming next month is the one that is the divine version of the 3 books mentioned. It will have new information about gods, domains, spells ect
@@TheDominomicon fairly sure i saw an announcement video or post saying that. i could just be misremembering though. It does have divine class archetypes and such as well so i feel like it will have quite a bit of useful divine info!
I have NO actual information on this, but here's my Educated Guess on the lack of new Divine spells in War of Immortals. "Divine Mysteries" is being released in November, so ~1 month later. I'm guessing Paizo wanted to focus on All Things Mythic/A New Set Of Rules in THIS book. Because while it is about gods, it seems to MOSTLY be about Mythic Rules, not Standard Divine Stuff. Also: I've enjoyed your videos and have your Pathbuilder video queued up to watch while I eat dinner. Well done!
Thanks for the kind words and for checking out my videos. Really appreciate it! I considered that Divine Mysteries might have some Divine spells in it and actually looked to see if I could find any info, but the Lost Omens books don't tend to come with that much mechanical stuff and tend to be more lore focused, and Divine Mysteries is meant to "succeed" Gods and Magic as the main source of info for god stuff in PF2e. So I get the impression that there might not be all that many spells in there. I would absolutely LOVE to be wrong on that, and I really hope you're right!
@@TheDominomiconfortunately they do seem to be correct, from the description of the Divine Mysteries book: “This 320-page resource for both players and Game Masters is the comprehensive look at all things divine, making it an essential addition to any Pathfinder Second Edition campaign and a remastered update and expansion of the popular Lost Omens Gods & Magic volume! The book updates for all of your favorite Pathfinder Second Edition deities, providing everything you need to know when playing with updated rules found in Pathfinder Player Core and Pathfinder Player Core 2, updating domains, spells, and other mechanics. These include expansions on existing classes like new witch patrons, new archetypes like the Rivethun emissary and powerful mortal herald, and new class archetypes like the battle harbinger option for clerics. The book also includes brand new character options and several additional divine entities never before explored in any Pathfinder reference!” I do agree that it would’ve been cool to get a couple of non-mythic divine spells in this book as well though
Love the video, love the channel, keep up the good work. Regarding the Kineticist, similar issues came up during the Cry for Battle playtest. The dev team response was that this something that needs to be fixed, but that the fix needed to be in a Rage of the Elements errata. The community consensus seems to be that the 1A Elemental Blast is a Strike, 2A EB is a Strike-containing Activity (like Vicious Swings), and Impulses are Spells. As for the divine spells, I think it really is just a page count issue, as disappointing an answer as that may be. Two new classes, plus 5 class Archetypes, plus everything mythic? Frankly I'm amazed they got everything in. Divine Mysteries will hopefully cover that gap, especially considering it's reported size.
Thank you for the kind words - keeps me going! Very true. The book really is packed with stuff and I don't know how they could've fit spells in there. I still wish we had more though! The Kineticist playtest showed me how dedicated Paizo are to listening to feedback during those stages, and I was honestly blown away with how much they took on board. I think that's probably why I didn't look too much into the Animist and Exemplar - they did such a good job with the playtest that I just thought I may as well wait for the proper release! It's actually a testament to how much they're willing to change their designs, which is a REALLY good thing.
Great idea! I was thinking that for a Divine Bloodrager, that might work more and could be super cool and dark, absorbing a creature's essence... I only jest about the blood stuff. It's actually super cool and I really like how they actually went more into the BLOOD stuff, as I feel like bloodlines are more Sorcerer focused stuff anyway.
@@TheDominomicon Y'know, I hadn't considered that Sorcerer bloodline angle. Especially since part of the Bloodrager's gimmick is being able to cast spells based on the creature type you harvest from.
Quick correction, divine list is not weak. It WAS weak when the game came out but nowadays, with all the new spells it got, it's actually quite strong (second strongest imo). Still, i get the frustration on not having new divine spells
It's a GREAT support spell list, absolutely, and Needle Darts is a fantastic cantrip and I'm glad it's on the Divine list. I think that, initially, it suffers with barely any decent damaging spells (aside from against undead etc) until you get to rank 2 or 3, and that's okay as it's meant to be more of a support tradition anyway, but it can come across as weak because of that. I personally think the list is fine, but it just doesn't have the sheer number that some of the other traditions do and could do with a bit more love. I'm a sucker for new spells TBH and I was really looking forward to some more!
I'm surprised you haven't mentioned the mythic monsters and mythic templates at all. I think they're the weakest part of the book, with Mythic Resilience messing only with casters while martials can simply ignore the mythic resistance and immunity of the enemies. I like the book. The Mythic destinies for players are quite amazing and I have a positive opinion about every class archetype except the warrior of legend. But the mythic monsters section of the book is very disappointing for me as a GM.
I briefly mentioned one of the templates that I liked, but I missed that Mythic resistance only applying to casters, which definitely sucks. Hopefully it'll get errated... Casters have a bad enough name in PF2e as it is without more fuel being added to that fire. (I think casters are generally fine in PF2e for what it's worth)
I get that. Paizo definitely took some risks with this one and actually made an unbalanced set of rules, but as I said in the video, I'm not sure how else they could've gone about it. Still, I think that the Mythic stuff probably doesn't work for the majority of campaigns which is a bit of a shame. Would be nice to have a variant rule that limits certain overpowered abilities or something so you can use a tiny bit of it every now and then, but I too cannot see myself using the Mythic stuff any time soon... some of the abilities in there genuinely worry me as a PF2e GM.
Divine Mysteries book coming November, that'll be where the spells are at.
