Quite an improvement since my last ride back in 2008,with small dark sleeper with leaky A/C and cooking smell coming from dining/catering car. and painfully slow took 9 hour from Bangkok to Chumphon. I'll probably take trains again if they can keep this standard and improve upon it.

Angie Yeeve I dont think there's a limit to how much luggage you bring in. You could store your bags under the seat or on the overhead shelf in the train
Check Seat61's Thai section. Tons of info: www.seat61.com/Thailand.htm To UR from Bangkok, it is currently around B1,520 (around $45.73 USD) for a first class berth. If you want the entire two berth cabin to yourself, you have to pay an additional B500 (around $15.05 USD0. So it would cost you around B2,020 (roughly $60.75 USD) for an entire compartment to yourself. Unless you were lucky enough to just not have a second fare in your compartment. In my experience, first class cabins often sell out or nearly so. I've made the trip to/from Chiang Mai five times now and only once did I see first class not sold out (and that was an off-season trip). Even second-class sleepers sell out at times. I should point out that it costs around $35 USD or so to fly one way to/from UR from Bangkok. I love trains and rarely fly when there's decent sleeper options. I mostly travel second class in Thai these days though (less than half the price of a first class berth though certainly not as private or plush). But I still splurge for these private berths every now and again. Nice video BTW D Razin.
Farhad Obaid There is no direct train service to Krabi or Phuket neither are there any luxury train service available. You'll have to alight at the nearest station in Surat Thani before continuing by land transfer, either by bus or taxi to Krabi or Phuket.
Amazing video! Just curious to ask, since they removed the KTMB Bangkok express (Butterworth-Bangkok). Can you still travel by train from Bangkok down to Malaysia? Which train routes? Thanks so much
YokaiTetsuiga Yes, you are still able to travel from Bangkok to Butterworth. You may board train no. 45 from Bangkok to Padang Besar, Malaysia and there after connect to the KTM Komuter for train service from Padang Besar to Butterworth.
Seems like the service on this train is s good, so does the equipment! The coaches were made in China, but there is no such advanced coach in use in China.
D Razin I am on that 12go Asia site to book train tickets but does not give you the option to purchase entire suite. Only says you can purchase two tickets at double the price. Not single price + 500 baht.
That will happen with our High Speed rail service, planned northern route will get Shinkansen but I would already turned 30 before that route go in full service. High Speed airport rail link might get European trains if they daring enough to fight China.
pingouin rageux Smoking is not permitted in any public transit or in or around railway stations except for the locations expressly indicated for smoking.
Midnight city goes well with this video! nicely done!

Angie Yeeve I dont think there's a limit to how much luggage you bring in. You could store your bags under the seat or on the overhead shelf in the train
Oh I see, thank you for your information. Good day!
Hi! Do you think the train allowed take a folding bike, packed in the bag? Thx!
Barr Chan I think they are allow you to do that but you have to make sure that you can store it under your seat completely. #FromThailand
Angie Yeeve SRT allowed handle and luggage

2nd class 40 kg
3rd class 30 kg
Accept commuters
Wheelchair no fee
Just want to ask. If i book a single first class ticket, does that mean I may have to share a cabin with a starnger?
You will have to, unless you purchase the entire compartment on your own, which is just a bit cheaper than 2 seperate berths.

I think it states on the seat 61s page to have it exclusive just for you. You pay an extra 500 baht that how i read it.
Yep you have to pay a surcharge to have it to yourself. That's provided the other seat is not already taken of course.
You will get private room. (2 persons)
does this train go to Krabi or Phuket? or any other luxury train service to both destinations.. please let me know.. want to travel from Bangkok
Farhad Obaid There is no direct train service to Krabi or Phuket neither are there any luxury train service available. You'll have to alight at the nearest station in Surat Thani before continuing by land transfer, either by bus or taxi to Krabi or Phuket.
Thanks China built this train for us!
@Henry Long

China uses high-speed railways
Nice travel video. How much did you pay for the ticket ?
they are 170-190 baht normally.
KTM should do the same thing... to promoted passengers.. using the train...
Dhjj Fhhj but they already have
fast emu train why need sleeper train?
Dhjj Fhhj
fast EMU better in daytime
BUT Sleeper train better in night time.
Sleeper train is not so practical for KTM because their EMU/ETS train speed is 140km/hr and it can reach most of the destinations within a few hours.
J L83 It think it's better if KTMB increase the promotion of ADNS use in the Jungle Railway.
Hello, Great video i am just wondering the price you pay is that for the entire first class room? Or would you need to by two tickets?
Nope, you only need to pay the fare for the lower bed plus an additional fee of 500 Baht to have the entire first class room to yourself.
D Razin I am on that 12go Asia site to book train tickets but does not give you the option to purchase entire suite. Only says you can purchase two tickets at double the price. Not single price + 500 baht.
BIG T Only available through purchase at the ticket counter.
Ets is goog
They could have get train car from Japan or Germany

High Speed airport rail link might get European trains if they daring enough to fight China.
So much nicer than Amtrak. The passenger railway system in the USA is a National shame. Not as shameful as Trump, but it's still a shame.
Can we smoke onboard?
pingouin rageux Smoking is not permitted in any public transit or in or around railway stations except for the locations expressly indicated for smoking.
NO
Smoking should be banned in every country......smokees just don't get ut.....they stink
This is ChiNa rail
China s built these trains. But in China they use only HST.
this train only for export.😆😆😆
