I wish Tapeworm had become a thing but in the end, everyone said that they weren't happy with how the sound was working out between the artists involved. The guitarist, Billy Howerdel is magic. Good on you picking up how he uses seemingly off notes. Adds a strange but cool element to their music. Dave Mathews band added his friend Tim Reynolds who is also a master of playing the "wrong" note. So cool!
TR is a fantastic and underrated player. Super cool guy too, I got to work a TR3 show as an intern. I was patching in cables and setting up mics and he just sat there and played his acoustic like he was sitting on the couch in his living room. Surreal moment for me

Geebz talks about dynamics a lot and APC and Tool are so great at using that to take a song to the next level. I’d really like to see what he says about ‘The Noose’ Thats another song that has great dynamics and a killer climax. ‘The Nurse who Loved Me’ would also be really cool to see on here since it has such a unique sound.

One thing you can always expect from APC is great guitar sound. Before APC, Billy was a guitar tech for Tool and Nine Inch Nails. At least . I'm sure he did that for other bands as well, but those are the ones I'm aware of.

My glasses have been destroyed a thousand times to this and similar songs. They're held up with tape. The entire frames. But when I work I don't where them...so I walk around blind. And there's a freedom to it. I spend many hours of the day hurting my eyes and when I put my broken glasses back on...I get it

Try something from the Red Rocks live set if you like the APC vibes. The cover of When the Levee Breaks is better than the original from that set in my humble opinion. By and Down from the same show is also completely insane.
Geebz, the story behind this track is really cool. Back in the day there was a side project which included Maynard, Trent Teznor, Chino among others called Tapeworm. As you can imagine with all of those perfectionists and all of them having multiple projects nothing really came of it aside from this song and Potions by Puscifer.
There can be only one Maynard. I think he really enjoys having three different bands to front/work with. Though all three are close, genre-wise, they allow him to explore different musical/lyrical/ideological areas and styles. He never gets bored and his mastery of those, combined with his voice, vision and message make him a legend, to a degree. Would love to have some drinks with him and Trent Reznor.

Thank you for validating my love for this song in so many ways. This is in my top 10 all time favorite songs just due to the masterful music theory approach they took in it's creation. There's so many textures that add to the dialogue of the music that it's just a masterclass in great song writing. The intro which forces you to ground to that one sustained note while falling into a state of peace is beautiful. The sudden punch into the verse lead in instrumentals with 3 different tempos puts you in a state of running for your life with the percussion, a frantic state of being frozen in place while looking around for something with the guitars and a state of being at peace and just observing your surroundings with the remaining instruments, all simultaneously, is pure genius. I could say so much more, but I'm not here to write a novel.

The sudden punch into the verse lead in instrumentals with 3 different tempos puts you in a state of running for your life with the percussion, a frantic state of being frozen in place while looking around for something with the guitars and a state of being at peace and just observing your surroundings with the remaining instruments, all simultaneously, is pure genius.
