Excellent step by step help. Mine had a couple of extra surprises along the way (lots of electrical to disconnect mainly), but was able to complete in less than 2 hours. Thanks Steve...from here on out "My man, Steve!"

We were almost in the position to replace our 12 year old LG dryer. I figured that the repair cost would be approximately $200 and a new dryer could be $700 or more. I decided to try and buy new rollers and a belt for about $25 and if it didn't work, we were probably going to buy a new dryer. The step-by-step worked like a charm and saved us hundreds of dollars. Awesome video!!

Great video. Followed the step by step instructions and was able to complete this task in about 1.5 hours. The reassembly took more time as the video did not give close ups like it did for disassembly. I went back to the disassembly to better see the screw locations. Grear experience... got me to do something I would never had attempted by myself.

You simply ROCK Steve! You explain things thoroughly and just slowly enough so that I could move through each step with confidence. I cleaned it all out as I went. My dryer sounds beautiful now! I also replaced the belt and the pulley system that holds it. I am sincerely hoping that the next time something breaks... I can find a "Steve" fix-it video for it! Thank you, thank you! :)

Just wanted to point out this is not a steam dryer. For those who have types like the DLEX7177WM, this process is slightly different.
You may notice the control electronics is mounted on the side of the dryer. On mine it is mounted to the actual front controls. This matters because this complicates removal of the front controls. The board has a large transformer making it hard to slip it past the front support. You have to bend it out of the way and also disconnect all wires from the board.
My dryer also have a drawer on the left side. This must be removed to get the front controls out. Also, when removing the front support, you have to slip it past the drawer housing.
Other than that, it's all identical. Everything is just a little tighter. This video was a godsend. My dryer made horrible pounding sounds. Turns out one of the rear roller's bearing was just destroyed. Now operates perfectly!

Super easy to do don’t be afraid to tackle it. Entire kit with 4 wheels was $34 and included a belt and tensioner.
Btw it was the rear wheels that were worn. More common that I’ve seen whenever I’ve replaced them myself.
We did break the door switch in the process (it crumbled) another $15 mistake. Took 2 of us 10 minutes to tear down the dryer and remove the drum.
There were around 15 screws and a few harness zip ties and it all carefully comes apart in sections. Be careful with those connectors they can get fragile when the dryer ages.

Great video and extremely helpful. Had to replace the rollers a couple times due to flat spots. My rollers failed because the long hair form my wife and 2 daughters gets caught up in the rollers. They ultimately slow, seize, and flat spot creating a loud thumping noise. This did the trick and it's very simple.

Excellent walkthrough, just followed along and finished this replacement. I had one roller with a visibly flat edge and one with failed bearings that burned up from the center.
My LG had well made sheet metal parts with edges safer than in most appliances, but the standard safety warning applies - be careful reaching into tight spots and handling exposed edges. Also if the control panel is left sitting on top of the wobbly panel sides it may fall on your head when reaching for the 2 back rollers. You might want to tape it to the top of the panels or unplug all the connectors and set it aside.

i have four screws that im unsure of where they go. 2 long screws with a flat tip and 2 short pointed tip can you tell me when putting the door panel back on you had used 2 screws to attach it to the area of the door and the lint collector are those either the long flat or the short pointed screws? This really is the best video with step by step instructions im sure id be lost and alot more questions had i followed someone elses. Thank you!!

Hey Steve. I did the repair and it worked great but the lower front roller will not engage the drum no matter what I try. Any idea of what is going on? Maybe the felt strips are worn? The drums spins fine but is only supported by 3 of the 4 rollers.
    Thanks for a great video.

Question... Can you re-purpose the threaded shaft in those old rollers to use in new trollers? If not, looks like I'll have to go back to parts store. Also, those are quit a bit more money with shaft in place. Please advice.

    • @FixDotCom
      @FixDotCom  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Todd, if the roller shaft is not damaged, you should be able to clean carefully and then lubricate with a non wax based oil.

there are four... Steve doesn't show doing the second one in the back, and there is also a second one in the front. Yes all the same rollers. The two in the back are a little difficult to change out bc of reach... but doable

Your video editor stinks. you show the 2 screws on the left side of the front panel being taken out and then the right side then when you go back to take off the top cross piece the 2 screws have to be taken out again. Get professional.
