quick question does the card support the newer nvenc chip i'm currently looking for a streaming pc upgrade and was wondering if dropping this in or upgrading the cpu is the better choice
@@IVI2sR4VEI'm also very curious for similar reasons and also our 1060 3GB is falling short in a few instances with VR(part of it could be the old xeons too). This could be a solid upgrade for the club's VR.
@@IVI2sR4VE from nvidias site "The GTX 1660 Ti comes equipped with the new Turing NVENC, the same NVIDIA Encoder found on RTX 20-Series GPUs. so we see that nvidia will only offer realistic prices when they have a competitor. and amd are nowhere to be found above the 2060 level. and dont say vega 7 because its sold out because they only made a couple. and the vega cards are cheap now but only because they are clearing out stock and wont make anymore. i swear every day i become more and more certain that amd and nvidia are working together to not compete with each other and instead choosing to try to poach what they can out of intels marketshare. i think thats why intel is coming otu with a gpu. they finally caught on to it. i mean lisa su and jensen are cousins after all
@Generic Memes I don’t know something to do with a dozen notifications the exact same moment sending my phone completely crazy. Maybe I’m wrong, could have just been a favourite hour for Tech tubers to post simultaneous.
Yep I bought my 1070 FTW in september 2016 for 439.99. After seeing the bitcoin boom, crash, Nvidia's scumbag release of RTX, etc. I am more than content with my 1070. Probably going to get another for SLI and skip RTX all together.
Got my EVGA ssc 1070 in December of the year it released for $350 something, just before the bitcoin craze, and it’s one of my few pc purchases I don’t regret. Also, I’m late to this video bc I landed here somehow after looking at phantek shift with 8700k.
The 1660 Ti third party cards cost 370 Euros in Sweden which is insane. Can get a Vega 56 for 350 Euros with similar performance and 2 GB extra ram so its a no-brainer.
it were a mystery how cards like vega 56 and such disappered before the mining craze started -I were looking for a card not knowing there would be a mining boom but something happened and news or reporters were actually slow -like 3-4 weeks slow so there must have been information but nobody ..cared
Yeah the big difference between all these channels is who possesses some intelligent substance vs market hype, and who is on the Nvidia hate train vs who isn't.
Triple slot, single fan graphics card? What the ef, EVGA? Edit: I think I figured out why they're doing that. Given Nvidia's severe restriction on power target and max TDP, they are trying to save some wattage by reducing the number of fans on the cooler, which results in a larger (Thicker) heat sink compared to a regular two slot design. That's the only logical explanation.
Single-fan, triple slot makes no sense to me. A sinle-fan card's main application is in SFF systems, but most of the mITX cases on the market now don't even have space to even mount a triple I/O plate, regardless of the thickness of the card. Just two openings. It's ridiculous.
It could also be a consideration of width vs. length. Could be really useful in some ITX cases, although not every case will support triple slot, obviously. Ultimately, I think it is good to have all kinds of different form factors for graphics cards, more choice tends to be better.
"REEEEEEEEEEEEE MORE EXPENSIVE. HUAHUAHURAWRLUL SAME PRICE AS 1070!" MSRPs: $30 more than a 1060 6GB. $100 less than a 1070. Performs about on par with a 1070. Math says 1070 performance for $100 less than a 1070. Current pricing: Pascal cards are a few years old. Of course they're cheaper now. There's always the used market argument. Always. You could get a 980 Ti for about the price of a 1060 6GB if you tried hard enough, and the 980 Ti will win. Not everyone wants to buy used, even though they should consider it. Did we get a Maxwel to Pascal-esque jump? No. But we got more than the nothing people are making it out to be. And that's better than Intel could do with their CPUs from Sandy Bridge to Kaby Lake, and better than AMD could do in terms of pricing Vega 56 against the 1070 at launch.
@enemy boat After the same two years all AMD offers you is rehashed 480s with overclock aka 590 for 280$, or Vega room heaters. For those 280$ nvidia has 1660ti that smashes a 590, beats a Vega 56 if OCed, draws nearly half the power, and all this while Nvidia pretty much is just competing with themselves. Thanks Nvidia, you didn't have to.
Vega 56 at the same price as the 1660 Ti will be a killer! Power be damned, because I like tweaking and overclocking. EDIT: Steve then says the same thing later in the video. Note to self: wait until the end of the video to comment.
Vega 56 has been on sale for $300 plenty of times now, it overclocks like a champ, it's within margin of error of an overclocked vega 64, trades blows with 1080/2060, sometimes 2070. If you undervolt and overclock V56 powerconsumption drops down to about 180-200 watts, it's not that powerhungry. It doesn't consistently beat 1080 & 2060 for average FPS but it does consistently beat both for 1% lows, which let's be honest, that's what you can actually see/notice. I wouldn't buy a 1660 over a V56. 50 watts/hour is liek $5/year
I watched this product from 3 different channel and I can honestly say yours is better than any other consedering what I am looking for. Thank you tech Jesus.
This is probably a random comment, but I've just found your channel as I'm rebuilding a PC and have begun finding all new channels on TH-cam the have blown up since I last built a PC (Quite a few years ago), and while this may seem like a minor detail, the "countdown" bar on the side of your stats has made me hit sub button. Its a great feature in your videos or in at least this video, that allows me to watch and listen without the stress of missing certain information and having to rewind and stop and start your video. I might not have articulated it well, but its one of those small things that adds way more than it probably took to implement. Looking forward to more of your videos!
R.I.P 1050ti !! Been gimping along for 3 years with it even after upgrading the CPU and Mobo last year. Looked at the Vega 56 now priced at $379 on amazon which is about the same price as the 2060 now. Ray Tracing for gaming is most likely 1-2 years away if it makes it into gaming at all. I'm thinking it will most likely be used for CAD, You Tubers, video editing, and other such things. So for now, with the GPU market having sooo many new products (and yet to be released), the GTX 1660 Ti looks to be at the right price point and performance for most casual gamers needing upgrades to the latest GPU boards. Excellent job on your evaluation of the 1660 Ti.
UPDATE : Newegg had a sale on a reference Vega 56 which is sold out, AMD did not lower the price of the card in general. -Forbes updated their article.
Looks like I'm replacing my HEAVILY overclocked used 980 with an equally pushed used 1080. I just need more VRAM. 1920x1200 gaming yo. *edit* Love my 28" 1920*1200 , but will replace with a 34" 3440*1440 so I can ditch my 2nd display(22" 1080p). 980 is a Zotac Amp! Extreme with custom bios and shunt mods. Not afraid to get dirty. Preferred games are Bu(g)thesda with 100+ mods.
Vega 64 is $50 cheaper than 1080 maybe think about that if all you need is 1440 performance and 8 g of vram or you're willing to spend $550 on it 1080 and RAM is your idea of future-proofing go with the Radeon 7 it's not much more comparatively speaking and yet twice as much RAM that'll last you till 2219 lol
@@Gpthunterseeker5638 I should edit my post. I never buy new. Sniped my 980 for $200 used in mid-March 2017. They were normally used for $300 then. Also, 3440x1440 is ultrawide. 25% more pixels than 2560x1440p
Hell yeah! Man I love your content because you’re actually talking about your products from an electrical engineering point of view; I’m here to stay in your channel mate 🤘
Prices will propagate over time, unless you need to RUN OUT and JUST BUY right now, hold that horse. Now the TDP is another matter: 120 vs 210 W is not insignificant -- 1660 will end up costing you less in the long run.
the only reviewer with very VERY detailed info and actually shows the model of GPU used in the tests if its not refrence. the only one i trust as such.
I have an RX 570... my neck hurts from looking up so high to compare.. I think it's time my Ryzen 2600x gets a suitable gpu to run AC O above 45 fps on mid settings. Thanks GN for the review.
Wow... rattling off all those specs that fast must be MADDENING. Tip of the hat to Steve for that massive barrage of numberspeak, and thanks for the video!
Its been modified so much so that it performs nothing like your usual Source games. CSGO for example is extremely CPU bottlenecked but Apex is almost completely GPU bound.
I just upgraded my pc with a gtx 1660 ti. It's working exactly like the review show us. The only different is that in my case, the idle temp is around 39ºC. While with my old gpu (gtx 960) the idle temp was 30ºC with the same ambient temp.
There are already 1070's that goes just slightly above $200. And i think that's a really good deal considering that the GTX 1660 TI and RTX 2060 is near $300 - $400 mark. With less Vram and not that much different when it comes to performance.
@G Dante Never go SLI/Crossfire, it doesn't work 80% of the time and you'll spend more time messing around with drivers and settings than actually playing games. Unless you play like 4 titles for half a decade that support it out of the box.
Really good that this card has the most interesting new features of Turing architecture. Hopefully mesh shaders and others will see usage in future. (This should at least help a bit on amount of users which it would be helpful.)
I know this is completely offtopic... but thanks for the quality audio. Not that i like or dislike ( ;) ) your voice, but thanks for the effort of recording it so clear... So many channels out there with such a crappy sound. Thanks!
Just want to say.. AMD dropped the price to their Vega 56 to kick this launch in the nuts. $279, 3 free games and you can OC, UV to reach similar V64 performance. I'll be doing that.
@@ardi1606 1070s are $300 new right now. That's like $20 cheaper if you get the tiny, crappiest 1660Ti. That's not "alot cheaper". It's also not faster than the 1070 if you bothered to actually watch the video, its about equal depending on the game. And you lose 2GB VRAM.
I bet they are very afraid of doing that. Nvidia has been trying hard to sell this rtx fad. If they release their own competition against them selves again they'll never get rid of extra stock.
From watching a few reviews now the difference in models of the GTX 1660Ti from single to triple fans seem to have the biggest impact on a gpu in quite some time.
Ok i just chechked prices in europe (geizhals eu) and the Us (Pc partpicker, mircrocenter etc.) and the 1660ti is ~ 21% more expensive than the 590 so the value of those cards is pretty much the same. Vega 56 blowers are found for 5% less and dual fan cards for 5% and triple fan cards for about 10-15% more. - that said you shouldnt buy either of those cards cause you can get a 580 8GB which can be oced to a 590 for as little as 165 bucks. If you just want performance or if you like ocing/playing around with your card go far a vega.
If you have the dough, why shouldn't you buy this 1660 Ti or Vega 56? They are stronger cards than 580. You should always get the best you can afford and have use for, within reason (I don't think the RTX prices are reasonable, but some think otherwise, and it's their right to do so). Of course if your screen is 1080p 60Hz, getting 2080 or Vega VII, let alone 2080 Ti might seem like a waste. But then again, people who can afford those cards likely won't game on such a basic screen, at least not due to lacking money to invest in a monitor. In the end PC gaming is entertainment for most people, so any money used in it is superfluous money, sort of, on top of the money needed for living. If having a kickass video card makes you feel good, go for it. That's what it's all about.
£260 for the dual fan MSI GTX 1660 Ti Ventus XS OC in the UK (that name though...). Seeing as the UK prices pretty much always match £ for $, not what you would get with currency conversion, this is pretty damned good! In comparison, the cheapest dual fan RTX 2060 is £330. Looks like I'll be buying one unless the Vega 56 price drops manage to compete with that, will have to wait and see.
@@robotbeeptv4941 Now that throws a spanner in the works for Nvidia! Other e-tailers _'should'_ follow suit soon, they always seem a bit slow over here when it comes to price drops. This is what the Radeon VII should have done to the RTX 2080. Better all round performance, for the same price. The only real deciding factors are the power draw, bundled games and the driver/GUI packages. With a smaller mention to noise, as most people I know play with headphones on anyway. Power draw can be tweaked on the Vega 56 a little with undervolting. I was a bit of an Nvidia fanbay in the past, but recently found out how much better AMD's Adrenalin software is than Nvidia's Geforce Experience. In the sub £300 range, the Vega 56 now looks like the better card to go for. Green team didn't hold that crown for long. Lets see if the Vega 56 prices stay that low (pretty sure AMD are making a loss at £250-280).
2060 appears to make more sense then this card. Since the price is only a chunk more, with a linear performance increase, 'and' one more feature, whether you're super into that feature or not... it just makes more sense to me. I may well end up upgrading to a 2060 from my 980ti in the near future, because it'd be good to have something fresh that doesn't warm up my room (with newer features and support.) I was really hoping the 1660 ti was going to perform equivalent to the 2060 or better without the rtx, because that was what I was hoping to buy lol.
You are falling for their marketing psychology real hard. That is exactly why they priced the 1660Ti so high while also removing regular performance. The drop from 2060 is a lot more than just the RT and Tensor cores. At their greediest this glorified 2050 should have been priced at $230~$250, but they destroyed everyone's perception of value so much with their RTX cards already that they figured they can get away with $280. And they actually are for some reason. Just because they overpriced their entire lineup horribly doesn't mean spending even more than you planned to is a "better value". Please, everyone, stop falling for it. Man...
Thanks for the testing and I like them. I hope you can do the benchmark testing with Overwatch game (One of the most popular e-sport 3d FPS game in Twitch). And I also hope that you can include some comparison with SLI gtx 1080 as well. I believe these tests will make your Review videos more complete and make them stand out comparing with those from other youtubers.
1660ti does 66fps while the 1660ti oc is 69fps 1660ti 1660ti 1660ti 1660ti 1660ti Too much detail for a youtube video; I should stick to the article. You're getting much faster at reading during fps graphs
Vega 56 is pretty cheap nowadays in Europe. Bought a 56 Pulse 2 days ago for my son... it's fast, it's quiet and it's not as powerhungry as everyone thinks - especially when undervolted (System power draw: 250-350W depending on the game played with a 4770K @ 4GHz allcore and many old HDDs inside). GTX 1080 performance in many games for €299
Kudos to you good sir for being able to say 1660ti so often and fast. Was wondering how this card was going to stack up against the 2060 since I made that jump last month. Still feel like I made a good decision. With the card heavily overclocked Im able to have a steady 60fps with rtx turned on high on bfv singleplayer. Seems like multiplayer is less of a hit on performance.
You can buy the Vega 56 Blower for 279€ or the Custom Sapphire Pulse for 309€, both including 3 top games (Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry 5 and The Division 2) right now at Mindfactory in Germany.
@@jtland4842 It was on newegg for like 2 models I think, might be OOS now. I thought it would be more widespread, wait and see if more go on sale I guess.
@@MrMatthewb9876 You got to keep an eye out for a sale. I got my Red Dragon triple fan Vega 56 for 329 and that was a while ago. Prices are coming down even more. It runs cool and while I wouldn't call it quiet, it's not bad at all. Definitely better than my blower Vega 64 which sounds like a damn hair drier.
Seems like an ok card for someone who bought a GTX 1050/1050ti, 1060 3gb and similar AMD cards. Waiting for the Red Team's answer to this. Hope we see some good competition in the GPU market.
Still, at $279 I don't see why one should get this over the 2060. Even if you don't care about DXR and DLSS, both cards have the same price/perf, which means the $70 difference is pure performance. When buying a new GPU you always want to get the strongest card at the best value so it can last longer before it gets replaced.
That’s a dumb thing to say, even if (for example) the 2080Ti had the same price/performance as the 2060 that doesn’t mean everyone should just buy the 2080Ti instead. People have budgets, you know.
@@ShawFujikawa At $279 it's no where near "budget" you know. It's a mid-range card. $70 more is not deal breaking if your already paying around $300. For budget cards you should get the 570 and 580 instead. "even if (for example) the 2080Ti had the same price/performance" Now that's a dumb thing to say cause it's never going to happen and you just made that up for your own sake. Higher tier cards have never been the best values and those who bought them obviously care more about performance than getting most bang for the buck.
@@ShawFujikawa The 2080ti has trash performance per dollar so it wouldn't make sense. Saddly we are paying the same as the 10 series for the performance, the 2060 is the same price and performance as the 1070. They've shuffled the chairs on deck, we are in the same spot as 3 years ago, except its like we have a 1090 and 1090ti now. It is best to buy the cards with the best performance per dollar with the most dollars you can afford at the time to avoid upgrades as long as possible. We are in a horrible market at the moment due to the crytpo fad fallout, the slowing of process improvements and innovation. ok i havent seen your entire review yet but; i love the hair, also, loving the review and lastly i did already order this GPU and comming from a GTX 745 (yes you read that right 745) with a constant FPS count of a solid 30 anything is better xD
Methinks they picked the 1660 name just so they can leave enough headroom for a few more generations of non-RTX cards before moving over to RTX entirely. How about a 1670 with some more VRAM tho? That's what I want.
I feel like a toddler who has had a 2 year temper tantrum about video card prices. I have had my gtx 970 for much longer than I usually have a video card; looks like I'm finally getting product price/performance that is attractive (1440p gamer). Great review
@Massimo De Grazia explain to me why you feel the need to answer for him? I asked him a question, so see what fps he can play, and here you are, answering for him.
To think, we have come so far where a card like the Titan Maxwell costing an upwards $1000 would be reduced to a mere $280~$300 in a form of a single-fan card in just mere 5 years or so.
I wouldn't recommend the reference Vega 56 but a Red Dragon or Sapphire Pulse, etc.... I have the Pulse and a simple undervolt and overclock in Radeon settings has this card boosting 1600+ MHz. Played Metro Exodus last night and average boost was 1611 MHz. FC5 average is about 1630 but does hit 1662 at times. No custom fan curve and temps are real good. Don't remember seeing it above 71c ever. I did not bios flash or power table mods. Used Radeon Settings only.
meh I caved and ordered a 2060 a few days ago, glad I did as this card isn't what everybody hoped it would be and I paid 349 not a bad price for the performance and if you overclock it near 2070 perf for $150 less....RTX OFF of course!
Not to mention IF Ray Tracing and/or DLSS does take off, we'll be able to take advantage. I do appreciate the, supposed, separate die dedicated to NvEnc. Makes me consider streaming.
This. The 2060 should have been around 1080 performance with 8gb of VRAM and priced around 300. Guess I just have to wait till Navi drops later this summer
That is not going to exist. Period. I'm sorry to burst your bubble but it's just won't until the 2070 MAYBE gets price cuts when the next generation comes out.
I got a used GTX 1070 TI on ebay last month for $240, so I'm happy with my purchase. I refuse to give Nvidia any of my money until they stop price gouging.
I'd be very interested in seeing you guys do a joint video with Tech Deals. They did an interesting video about the 20 series cards showing cases where the 2080 TI justifies its price. So I'd love to see you both discuss this with regard to both hardware, testing, and cost analysis should it ever happen
A 1680 or 1880 (wtf these names) would be a non rtx 2080 and you already have that it's called the 1080ti. What you want is an 1880ti but don't expect it to be lower than $1000.
even though i run still a GTX 1080 - i think with the recent pricedrop of the Vega 56 and it's realy wide overclocking options (bios-mod for instance) it is the better deal vs. the 1660ti.... as long as you don'T care about the power consumption....
I think that would be stupid because, It don't have the 20 series features, plus it would make it impossible for Nvidia to release a low cost of the 20 series.
@@fedepede04 that's what gtx and rtx is for. 20 series should denominate the architecture, in this case turing, and then rtx/gtx denominates cuda/tensor cores. I think it should have been a 2050 though. Releasing a ti model without a base model is just horrific marketing.
Theres no new pricing, it was but a tactic to try and sabotage 1660 ti sales. Check AMD twitter, they already confirmed it was just a promo at newegg. So you pay far more than these 280$ and you enjoy double the power draw, forget 1, buy 3.
@@dufung3980 vega 56 performs better in basically every game 10%ish on average and thats not including double digit gains from undervolting and overclocking which gives double digit gains (and makes it more efficient) not including the even bigger gains if you get lucky and get samsung memory and flash to a a vega 64 bios. Oh and the 3 free games as well. nvidia fanboy detected ignoring value.
@@joeallen7781 vega 56 pulse literally cost £10 more than the 1660ti in the uk or a msi airboost blower for £250 which is still cheaper than a 1660ti and includes the 3 games
Pretty wild that they've tried to "keep it under wraps" all before release w/o prior advertising, and didn't voice too much against the leaks. Makes ya think.
When it comes to pricing and price/perf ratio, one must consider here if this goes into a new PC or it's an upgrade. For the former, it's a strong offer, for the latter the old card has to be pretty weak (or be able to sell the old card for a good price) for a 1660Ti to justify. Especially that outside the US, these are closer to 400 USD (390 where I live). The 6GB VRAM makes it a bet on how games will utilize VRAM in the near future. Due to the market share of the 1060s, 6gigs will be probably 'respected' by game devs. But I'd like to see the upper mid-range getting lower in pricing than 5xx and xx60 cards on steroids.
590 was a bad value when it launched as the 580 could be found a lot cheaper. 1660 just makes it way worse. Vega 56 is still good if you don't mind the heat and power consumption.
does better than the 590, does about as good as a 56 for a fraction of the power consumption - why better value on those cards? Plus, this is not what "we" want, if you play 1080p, more power to you. But a big chunk of the gaming community is moving to 1440p and the 2060 was the answer those people needed. These cards are for who's still on 1080p.
the 590 is the same price as this and it gts easily beat, the vega 56 is more expensive almost always and barely better, and the cheap vega 56s are blower style that consume way more power and make more noise
That is what drew me to Nvidia Originally, a pretty darn good performance/power usage. Sure it might not always have been the fine wine AMD can offer, but the latest series are very efficient for the FPS you get out of them. And that is worth something. GTX 760 to GTX 1060 ... less power usage, more performance. And that is worth something.
Not to mention that "finewine" has always been AMD fixing their garbage release drivers, taking up to 24 months to do it. AMD has had good driver releases ever since 2015 or so, so thats become a myth that people just like repeating on the internet with zero factual backing.
@G Dante People who don't consider power and therein system thermals/stability annoy me, welcome to the list. You're talking 500 watts on a video with a 130watt card..
The Turing launch that I was expecting to get from the beginning. More performance for the same price as the previous gen, not more performance at a higher price too. This is the kind of track Nvidia should stick to.
Man it sucks AMD is so bad. I really wish they could do better. My R9 390 is one of my more disappointing purchases in my tech life. Always running hot and its always sucking up a bunch of power and always plagued by driver issues. Id have to be an absolute idiot to ever trust AMD again...also me "damn, vega 56 at 280....i should get that"
The Vega 56 is a great card for the money, especially at 280 that's an insane value. I've built 3 rigs with them, and AMD's software is so much better than nvidia's especially if you want to mess with clock speeds, voltages, fan curves etc etc. I'd know, I bounce between a CF Vega56 setup, and my 1080ti pretty regularly.
Rarely ever heard of driver problems with AMD cards since a long time ago (well, besides Vega 7). I am using a R9 390 myself and it runs absolutely perfectly with no issues. Also, I am very happy I didn't choose the NVIDIA alternative, which was the gtx 970, which I would now have issues with because of its low amount of memory.
Even though it.makes total sense. It still freaks me out a little that my 980ti is still just as good, if you had bought it for 1080p/1440p, as the modern mid range card. Got mine for £250 a few years back.
@@BcHmF Ignoring used prices and going just by MSRP for the sake of argument, it's $100 less than the 1070 for about the same performance, and $30 more the 1060 6GB was for noticeably more performance. Consider then that you basically _had_ to pay the $125 gap between the 1060 6GB and 1070 before to get that performance bump. That's how it's less expensive. (Yes, there's the 2GB of VRAM difference. I know.) If you consider used prices, obviously that'll be different. It was the same way when Pascal launched. Not everyone wants to buy used or trusts used, especially after the crypto craze.
Hi Steve, I hope you have some insight to this. I've had 3 graphics cards in a row last only a few months then stop working. I was using PC normally no overclocks etc then it just turned off, and automatically restarted but had no display, I tried the troubleshooting by manufacturer but the card is definitely broken even though another one in that slot works. What component could be breaking them? A bad motherboard/pcie slot? Power supply? Maybe it's just very bad luck but 3 cards in a year surely can't be :( I don't even know if u want to put the new warrantied card in, incase its damaged by something. Thanks :)
@@scatterforce Yeah I was thinking psu as well mainly but it's never had any issues in terms of shutting PC down randomly or any symptoms. Guess I'll just build a whole new system with this new warrantied gpu but really sucks to not be able to test for sure to see which part
Looks like the correct call is to purchase a Powercolor Vega 56 Red Dragon or a Colorful 1070 Ti Vulcan for righteous 1440p gaming these days. Nothing overly wrong with the 1660 Ti, but I'm gonna go with "skip Turing" for this generation of nVidia cards.
Around €320 here in the Netherlands, which is very close to the launch price of cheaper 1070 models... 3 years later we get a shittier GPU that performs almost like the 1070 at nearly the same price but with less VRAM. GOOD DEAL!!!
The GTX 1660 Ti GPU is another NVIDIA Performance Per Watt Champ that's a very nice non-RTX card for gamers on a tight budget, but I want, need, must have Future Proofing RTX Tech.
Still see no real value in upgrading my 970 to any of these current cards until 4k @ 60 becomes mid range. Had my 970 for god knows how long now, and stillnit can do 1080p at 60 everything max. Even some 1440p and 4k on medium/low

so we see that nvidia will only offer realistic prices when they have a competitor. and amd are nowhere to be found above the 2060 level. and dont say vega 7 because its sold out because they only made a couple. and the vega cards are cheap now but only because they are clearing out stock and wont make anymore. i swear every day i become more and more certain that amd and nvidia are working together to not compete with each other and instead choosing to try to poach what they can out of intels marketshare. i think thats why intel is coming otu with a gpu. they finally caught on to it. i mean lisa su and jensen are cousins after all

Cocaine is a hell of a drug
Their cheapest 2060 is the same way
Single-fan, triple slot makes no sense to me.
Have you thought 3 slot producess less noize?
"REEEEEEEEEEEEE MORE EXPENSIVE. HUAHUAHURAWRLUL SAME PRICE AS 1070!"
MSRPs: $30 more than a 1060 6GB.
This man and his team, to gather all this information for us viewers is a feat, is amazing. Thank you so much for what you do.

There are already 1070's that goes just slightly above $200. And i think that's a really good deal considering that the GTX 1660 TI and RTX 2060 is near $300 - $400 mark. With less Vram and not that much different when it comes to performance.

You should really start to remove some cards from the graphs. Everything is so tiny...
From watching a few reviews now the difference in models of the GTX 1660Ti from single to triple fans seem to have the biggest impact on a gpu in quite some time.
Here in Sweden they go for 350+ bucks...

RTX 2060 is way superior in Europe.
This channel is so underrated. All the content is fantastic

Man...

Red Team's answer is a price drop on the Vega 56.
"even if (for example) the 2080Ti had the same price/performance"
Now that's a dumb thing to say cause it's never going to happen and you just made that up for your own sake. Higher tier cards have never been the best values and those who bought them obviously care more about performance than getting most bang for the buck.

ok i havent seen your entire review yet but; i love the hair, also, loving the review and lastly i did already order this GPU and comming from a GTX 745 (yes you read that right 745) with a constant FPS count of a solid 30 anything is better xD
This is going to be a killer sell for gaming laptops.
Yeah and variants if they make them of the 16-- series, 1650? Lower power footprint.
Methinks they picked the 1660 name just so they can leave enough headroom for a few more generations of non-RTX cards before moving over to RTX entirely.
How about a 1670 with some more VRAM tho? That's what I want.
WTF How can you ever justify buying a rx 590. It nearly needs 100W more power!
I want that EVGA model. Look like an absolute chonk!
Ok i just decided if I have to hear *1660ti* once more i have to kill myself! :D
Does anyone wanna bother himself, counting how often he said it?
no, it crossed my mind too
i thought about it and tried but i stopped after he surpassed 20 times.
It shall be done.
Edit: and soo it is done. 74 times.

Too many
LukaMasterz , thank you for your sacrifice and I hope you enjoy your stay in the mental hospital.
I feel like a toddler who has had a 2 year temper tantrum about video card prices. I have had my gtx 970 for much longer than I usually have a video card; looks like I'm finally getting product price/performance that is attractive (1440p gamer). Great review
Damn you use a gtx970 for 1440p? What is your fps? 20?
@Massimo De Grazia if you have to run your graphics on low or medium, what's the point of being in 1440p? May aswell be in 1080p and high or ultra.
@Massimo De Grazia explain to me why you feel the need to answer for him? I asked him a question, so see what fps he can play, and here you are, answering for him.
When can we see 1660ti in laptops??
To think, we have come so far where a card like the Titan Maxwell costing an upwards $1000 would be reduced to a mere $280~$300 in a form of a single-fan card in just mere 5 years or so.
Upgrade to 1660 from 780?? Just a few generations to jump
GTX 1660 Ti is around 30~40-ish% better than the GTX 980, and the GTX 980 is around 40-ish% better than the GTX 780, so that would be a nice upgrade.
or you can wait a bit more....
ray tracing is a gimmick especially on those cards. the 1660ti scales well with 2060 on price per dollar.
I replaced 670Ms in a laptop with 1070s :)
get a 2060 for 70dls more... is way better.
Honestly i'm surprised how well Radeon VII is holding up being released not too long ago, without a real WHQL driver.
I do believe there was a new driver released. I would like gamer nexus to do a new review. You can undervolt and it runs way less hot.
I'm still waiting for a GPU with 8 GB VRAM and a perfomance between 1070ti and 1080 for less than 350 USDs
This. The 2060 should have been around 1080 performance with 8gb of VRAM and priced around 300. Guess I just have to wait till Navi drops later this summer
@@OneDollaBill Exactly!
That already exists. It's called a Vega 56 when on sale.
@@wingracer1614 Yeah, but here in Brazil most Vega 56 are expensive now and I would like a non used GPU.
Where's the 1070? Definitely needed for these charts.
I'd be very interested in seeing you guys do a joint video with Tech Deals. They did an interesting video about the 20 series cards showing cases where the 2080 TI justifies its price. So I'd love to see you both discuss this with regard to both hardware, testing, and cost analysis should it ever happen
aight, 1680 when?
1880*
A 1680 or 1880 (wtf these names) would be a non rtx 2080 and you already have that it's called the 1080ti. What you want is an 1880ti but don't expect it to be lower than $1000.
@@BombaJead except you cant buy a 1080ti anywhere
@@BombaJead 1080Ti is EOL

even though i run still a GTX 1080 - i think with the recent pricedrop of the Vega 56 and it's realy wide overclocking options (bios-mod for instance) it is the better deal vs. the 1660ti.... as long as you don'T care about the power consumption....
totally gonna buy a 1660 to play pac-man 4k
Great work. You are an invaluable source of information and insight. Thank you.
Grab the Vega 56 and hold for Navi.
skip the vega 56 and hold for navi. unless you need a heater.
I couldn't care less what the name is (LOL)...I freakin' LOVE this card...and it's going to be in my rig in a few weeks. :)
should have called it the 2050 Ti
I think that would be stupid because, It don't have the 20 series features, plus it would make it impossible for Nvidia to release a low cost of the 20 series.
@@fedepede04 the features are bound to RTX not 20 series.... it's a TU chip thus a 20 series...
@@fedepede04 that's what gtx and rtx is for. 20 series should denominate the architecture, in this case turing, and then rtx/gtx denominates cuda/tensor cores. I think it should have been a 2050 though. Releasing a ti model without a base model is just horrific marketing.
Only no1 would drop top dollar for a xx50 card, now its still a xx60 and the price is being compared to a 2060
@@fedepede04 uhhhh 20 series is just the generation. Rtx denotes the new features lol

Looks like the VEGA 56 is a easy pick now considering its new PRICING and 8GIGS of HBM Memory
The same price, slightly higher performance on specific titles and a 60% higher heat/power foot print, how is that an easy choice. Fanboy detected.
@@joeallen7781 vega 56 pulse literally cost £10 more than the 1660ti in the uk or a msi airboost blower for £250 which is still cheaper than a 1660ti and includes the 3 games
vega 56 pulls 300% more power than 1660 ti while performing 2% better on average. yeah, really easy pick...
Pretty wild that they've tried to "keep it under wraps" all before release w/o prior advertising, and didn't voice too much against the leaks. Makes ya think.
TL;DR of GTX 1660Ti Reviews:
"Yeah I mean it's pretty good."
Thats better nvidia. Stil think the 590 or a vega 56 is a better value , but this is more of what we want.
"the 590 or a vega 56 is a better value" - Nope.
"heat and power consumption".... cuz it have like 10c more and 50w more then its competition... so much power hungry...
the 590 is the same price as this and it gts easily beat, the vega 56 is more expensive almost always and barely better, and the cheap vega 56s are blower style that consume way more power and make more noise
AMD has had good driver releases ever since 2015 or so, so thats become a myth that people just like repeating on the internet with zero factual backing.
so ...can we expect GTX 1880 ti ?!
It's still $280 vs $250 on the 1060 but I hope it drops in price to about $250 in the following months.
Man it sucks AMD is so bad. I really wish they could do better. My R9 390 is one of my more disappointing purchases in my tech life. Always running hot and its always sucking up a bunch of power and always plagued by driver issues. Id have to be an absolute idiot to ever trust AMD again...also me "damn, vega 56 at 280....i should get that"
Lol true, in all fairness undervolt and OC the crap out of a vega 56 it's an overclocking beast!
I love my 390. My friends had to upgrade their 970s because of the VRAM, I did not. Unfortunately there is nothing to upgrade to from AMD.
Even though it.makes total sense. It still freaks me out a little that my 980ti is still just as good, if you had bought it for 1080p/1440p, as the modern mid range card. Got mine for £250 a few years back.
lol - WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. Has to compete with 3 years old hardware, brings nothing in but less RAM. WTF....
So.... same performance for much less money is too expensive?
@@14sforlife "much less money" bullshit detected.
@@14sforlife Less expensive? How much? And BEFORE or AFTER nvidia raised prices for no good reason? - Exaaaactly ;)
I know.)
If you consider used prices, obviously that'll be different. It was the same way when Pascal launched. Not everyone wants to buy used or trusts used, especially after the crypto craze.
@@BombaJead The 1070s MSRP was 370 the MSRP of this card is 280 that would be 90 dollars cheaper or 25-30% cheaper for those keeping score.

Maybe it's just very bad luck but 3 cards in a year surely can't be :(
I don't even know if u want to put the new warrantied card in, incase its damaged by something.
Thanks :)
I would suspect the motherboard or power supply.
My guess is PSU. If that goes bad, it will kill just about everything.
@@scatterforce Yeah I was thinking psu as well mainly but it's never had any issues in terms of shutting PC down randomly or any symptoms.
Guess I'll just build a whole new system with this new warrantied gpu but really sucks to not be able to test for sure to see which part

Jaggsta not only that, but you can get 1070’s on the used market for sub $200.
Around €320 here in the Netherlands, which is very close to the launch price of cheaper 1070 models... 3 years later we get a shittier GPU that performs almost like the 1070 at nearly the same price but with less VRAM.
