Thank you to everyone commenting and sharing I’m so glad you appreciated the video! As I said I am a noob at this game but I was just so frustrated with all the lack luster combo tutorials. I did make a couple mistakes so check out the comments below for the much smarter and better people who made corrections!
Bro THANK YOU. People who have played Tenkaichi for years just turn on the camera and yap about mechanics without actually saying anything and call that a tutorial. This game is nothing like normal fighting games and I absolutely need good tutorials to learn it
Because it's better than norma fighting games, it's a next gen. Idgaf about your normal fighting games with super unblockable combos and the one who wins is the one who can do it first or get behind the back of the opponent. Sounds like fucking fun, right? I prefer action packed unpredictable fights, where you have options to stop combos, but if enemy is better, they can counter your counter and continue with the combo. Learn to play, skill issue.
YES!! This video covered something many many others didn’t. The actual intended mechanics of the combat system. They give you building blocks with every single input, and you explained that beautifully, as well as how to put those building blocks together. It helped me visualize the combat in a way I never have before, and probably couldn’t have on my own. Great video, keep doing this style even if it’s hard work. It’ll pay off for you.
After a lift strike, press A,Y to homing jump into a heavy finish (stun) from there you can hit x,x,x,x,x -a,x, x,x,x,x,x -x -xx for the auto combo, reset, auto combo w/launcher, into follow ups. Always end your last followup with down, then lightning strike. This will put you right next to them while they try to recover. Rush supers, ground grabs, or perfect smashes can start a new combo off the ground. You can also switch h characters after launching to have your new character continue the combo
Best combo video I've seen so far. The next video you should make is a defense video, specifically when to tap guard/hold guard to z-counter/vanish supers. Beerus ultimate is busting up people right now.
7:23 as an addendum, not every character actually has a guaranteed grab after grand slash, they need the move " ground throw" in their move list in the explanation of controls tab. it can be inconsistent for dp costs cuz from my testing as someone like spopovich(2dp) has it but ssj gt goku(6dp) doesn't. and it isn't a height thing either, yamcha doesn't have it despite being average height and ssj3 gt goku has it despite his previous forms lacking it besides that this is the best combo video I've seen so far!
Finally a good combo video. So many videos with no text or explanations. Also the build up from basic to follow up is key. I had no idea that you could combo directional short holds. I've been looking through many combo videos and this is by far the most educational. Good job!
This is literally exactly what I’ve been looking for. You’re spot on about other combo videos not really being any help. This video is perfect. Liked and subbed
Commenting to boost the video in the algorithm MUCH better explanation of the Rush Chains and other mechanics than other guides that are out there Hope this does well and you get the credit you deserve!
This deserves a subscribe AND a like, I love how ur straightforward and just telling us what needs to be told, also that you're using an xbox controller. Maybe for the next video you can make an ACTUAL defense guide or something like that you know? Thanks for this information!!
This video is really amazing The editing with the Buttons on screen and name of the combo is a simple thing to do, but it helps a lot understanding it, will definitely reccomend to my friends I'm a long time Tenkaichi Fan, but even I learned from this video, keep up the good work dude
Thanks, I'm saving this video and will be returning to it often! A video with practice drills we could run to work on timing of counters and defense would be amazing!
good example of what a big difference in rush combos between characters makes, Mr Satan having a heavy finish available after a single punch actually makes him much more viable in neutral than people realize use Mr Satan’s ‘False Courage’ for flinch resistance, and use X -> half-charged Y, and you’re basically guaranteed for whatever punish you like. his grab actually sets up for punishes extremely well too, so i’d recommend (false courage) -> X -> charged Y -> grab -> dynamic punch/present as a basic combo for Mr Satan. that kind of thinking has given me enough value with him to main him in singles and win sometimes ^-^ i think if you made a video demonstrating how strong understanding of combo fundamentals can make even Mr Satan viable at skilled play, that’d be sick hehe amazing video btw, so so grateful to have someone properly explain the mechanics without assumptions or misinformation :)
Good job bro, covered all the basics for newcomers ❤ I suggest you do a defensive guide too (trickier but most needed 😂) since everyone spams perception and can't counter it
Thanks man, this really helped for those of us who played a bit of Tenkaichi 3 but just as a kid with friends and didn't actually know anything. Keep them coming. One focused on defense and blocks like you said at the end would be fucking great.
Finally something useful. None of the other tutorials actually go in depth on how to link the combos and how many times you can do them, etc. They all just assume everyone has been play BT3 for the last 17 years.
AMAZING video, thank you so much! This game's combat system really deserves to shine and it won't until more people understand it and are willing to learn it. Thank you for making it more accessible.
Good job on the tutorial 👍🏽 I actually learned something new from this video as well ; that i can follow up the auto combo a 3rd time. When i get the chance I'll have to see if it benefits my gameplay.
5:37 the reason you perform the auto combo 3 times is actually because you have 2 auto combos. Your character will alternate between autocombos if you step/rush in, or rush chain. The last hit on an autocombo is like a rush chain, as long as you don't do it twice, you can keep going.
pretty freaking helpful vid actually. I was able to lab one of my own with blue vegeta that does just over 18k thanks to you without any major buffs aside from an ability item or 2 maybe
Yes. Thank the Lord YES! All, and I mean ALL, of the "combo videos" I've watched on sparking zero (other than this one) are infuriating. they don't explain what they are doing or do it very poorly. never explain follow-ups, why you can follow-up or how. they also always just say "copy this combo it's good". like no dude I wanna learn how to build my own and how it works. some explain the different types of rush attacks but usually only 1 or 2 and then they just say "check your character they're all different." I can't believe the budokai tenkaichi series has so many "veterans" that know the games inside and out and yet none of them can explain anything. This is so far the best combo video I've seen when it comes to explaining thank you.
Meta comment but you might do well providing tutorials on defense and how to counter some of the more notorious cheesy stuff going on with say, yajirobe or kefla or wheelo
Not a flawless guide, but a great starting point. Problem is, that most of these "combos" are not true combos and can be simply blocked midway trough. Also the number of vanishes and dragon homings isnt exactly 2, but character dependent, if they havnt changed that.
@@fakechloe207 1. there are true combos 2. ofc we are excluding super counter, which is hard to perform and needs a hard read, when not going for luck 3. shut up Meg
Your rush in is anytime you can actually rush, not just as a follow up it's the same move if you rush in from outside of melee. It also doesn't count as a part of your rush chain so it's just +1 hit to any rush chain you are trying to reach
Hi man really great guide, but now im straggling in defense in general, i dont the difference of the counters or block and why i should use them, how to use them or when i should use them 😅😅. If you can make a guide for this i think it will be well receveid!
Every (Y) in the combo chain is blockable. Every hit period can be mashed out of with up+x (or square.) The only real combos in the game are ki blast combos
@@mattyryon That's cool! We'll, maybe. Some people were saying that the cooldown was longer. If you can really spam it, then I don't have to wait until a more predictable slow hit or many rapid hits (flying kicks) . Nice.
4:59 what is the difference in these two inputs? Im having trouble understanding both are the a button with y but i dont know what you did differently with them to make one a rush in and one a step in.
@@JackDaniels-ex9mf rush in can ONLY be performed after the five hit combo (XXXXX). Step in can be performed at any time as long as you’re close to the opponent.
FYI, something important about rush-in+x at 5:13. They have "hidden" variations, you have rush-in then - x, which we've seen in the vid, can be blocked by a standard guard - up+x, can be guarded by a low guard - down+x, you guessed it, needs a high guard if you block those successfully (whilst enemy is attacking from front), you get free hits on your opponent as long as you attack them directly after the block, with no delay. If you've ever wonder why sometimes you can block those rush in+x while your enemy is attacking your front, that's why, they mix up their input. Some people don't do this on purpose, they simply hold forward while playing. For example, if you spot someone always doing rush in attacks coming from bellow/above/mid when doing rush-in X follow up, take advantage of this! Obviously, people with auto-block on will always guard a classic rush-in+x, so mixing up will allow you to continue your combo, even while facing them. Perception works on all these rush-in variation if they have at least 1 skill count. Up to you to decide if you want to make them waste those precious resources and if it's worth to take a counter. Perception counters aren't that bad as neither your opponent nor you have the advantage once the animation is over, unlike when doing perfect high/low blocks. If you don't want the counter to happen, use any other option you can think of, rush-in side step in the back, or vanish attack, or grab. or just back away and reset - totally up to you guys.
So using the 5 hit chain 3 times, another chain 2 times, or the same smash attack direction 2 times end the combo. So 4 hits followed by a unique smash followed by 2 5-hit combos followed by any rush chain followed by a rush chain or a lift strike or grand slash followed by any chain is basically the longest non-sparking combo?
Thank you to everyone commenting and sharing I’m so glad you appreciated the video! As I said I am a noob at this game but I was just so frustrated with all the lack luster combo tutorials. I apologise on behalf of my people, we Tenkaichi veterans get very upset when we get beaten by 12yos who mash their face into the controller😂
