CHloE748 you shouldn't boop the snoot! it can be very startling for an unsuspecting snake and stress can kill them! however, if your snake is pretty calm then it's okay!
I'm attempting to get a ball python, my mom is currently standing by her stance that it will eat my kitten, I've tried to disprove her, and said that I wanted to get a hatchling/male, since they're smaller and she's not having it. I might have to settle on a corn snake.
7:22 I can agree with this! In high school, my Biology department had a thirty-five-year-old ball python. Her name was Sabrina and she had never bitten anyone (which isn't a surprise due to their naturally docile behavior). She helped a lot of kids get over their fear of snakes and understand that snakes aren't evil and out to get you. I got off track. I held Sabrina every day for two years straight. Eventually, we bonded enough so that I could keep her wrapped around my neck. She never squeezed. Instead, she just hung there like a lovely scarf. The teachers always commented how she acted very differently around me. A lot calmer and more content to lie around. Anyone else who held her had an active snake! She was always anxious to get back to me after moving around quite a bit (head pointed towards me and everything)! I was the only one she allowed to touch her head. On the days I came in upset, she would always briefly brush me with her nose. I also live in a daycare and the summers that I brought her home, the daycare kids loved her. I never let more than one kid pet her and they were always calm. I kept their hands away from her vent and head. Never had an incident. Instead, my grandma and a couple of the kids even touched and held her (all of which had a fear of snakes). So yes. Snakes most definitely due recognize certain people. I'm not exactly sure how, but it is a special feeling to know a snake--an animal often seen as malicious and stupid--trusted me enough allow me to touch her head. It sure came in handy once. She had a bad shed and skin was stuck in her pits and she very patiently allowed me to dab some water on the shed and very carefully remove it. Not a single hiss or flinch.
You, my friend, may of just been sold a Cat-Snake, also known by the elusive name... 'Ferret.' Now, how did you not notice the difference of fur, speed, blinking eyes, and specifically, feet...?
The comment about autism really speaks to me. I am autistic and I LOVE snakes! I love how quiet they are, and the texture of their scales. I do find personality in so many different snakes! I have loved reptiles for so long, been going to a summer camp at a herp society for 4 years now, and gone to many expos. I don't have any snakes right now, but I have 2 bearded dragons. Thank you for this amazing video!
I know this comment is a year old but I just wanted to say that I completely understand as somebody who’s also autistic and has found reptiles, namely snakes, super supportive & comforting! I have two and they’ve helped me a ton. I have a special interest in reptiles!
The part about them being quiet is absolutely 100% one of the best reasons to have them as someone with sensory issues, they never wake me up in the middle of the night
This obviously took a lot of time, effort and editing. Thank you, I really enjoyed this video, the love and care you have for your animals, the ongoing education and investment in the community, and the creativity and hard work you put into your videos!
I brought my snake (ball python) to school to show people how great of animals they really are. They were surprised when I told them about the dog and cow deaths. (I looked this all up about 3 months ago and brought my snake to school.)
That's how I felt about my corn snake. The shopkeeper hated her because she was afraid of snakes, had all snakes put 50%, said she was one of the most aggressive. I stuck my hand in there, let her scent me, then pulled her out and she was just a cuddly noodle. She slipped into my pocket and I bought her
Star Pit - my snake Todd (ball python) was terrified at first but he soon would love to cuddle with me. He would even strike at my brother if he stuck his hand in his incloser. and when I had to put him down,I got to caddle him one last time and to this day I miss him,He was the best animal I have ever received
That's how I felt with my Kenyan. I held 12 different ones and he was the only one to put his little head between my fingers and boop my nose with his lol
The one from snakedude1814 was very true. People I know have autism and Im awaiting an assessment and reptiles in general really calm me and a few of my friends down. I love all reptiles.
my pet ball python (not entirely sure what her morph is) after two or so weeks she helped my mom overcome her fear of snakes. My snake is also pretty tolerant and peaceful.

*Can you do this video but with other animals, like lizards?* There are soooo many misconceptions about them too. I'll start it off: there are many different species to choose from, from very easy kid friendly ones like bearded dragons, to the ones that need experienced owners like tegus.
I met a persons pet black and white tegu once, named buzz. They are huge and claw a lot. But the owner said that the tegu was the only reptile he owned that he considered a true pet. The tegu I met was actually pretty nice and let me hold him! The owner taught me how to hold a tegu and I got to hold Buzz and the owners Blue Tongued Skink, Stretch. :D
I even had a freakin tiny garden skink and he or she was super friendly and I even pet them sometimes, they were perfectly happy and would even climb on my face and also a roach disposal area yay
Even easy to care for species such as Bearded Dragons need experienced owners. If someone does not know how to properly care for an animal, they shouldn't get one.
My dad has told me Im not allowed a snake because he is allergic to rodents even though were pretty sure he wouldnt have a reaction to frozen thawed. Also my mum is scared of all snakes but I got her to hold an Albino ball (my mum is albino) and she loved it.
Alex, would you ever think of doing a video on how to travel safely with snakes? I'm going to be moving soon and I haven't found a lot of information on traveling either by car or by plane with a snake. Im worried about keeping the temperature and humidity and also just what containers should be used. Any tips would be wonderful, thanks!
As a person on the autism spectrum I agree, my pet corn snake is very quiet and feels very cool to me, she's like a physical stim and I love it. She's very quiet and she's very docile she's never even bitten my little brother honestly.
I think you missed an important one, but maybe you didn't: Snakes don't do their business every day like a dog would, so its much less maintenance when it comes to cleaning.

Lightwing SLP that should not bother your snake at all. :) If you just try not to over handle your snake the first couple of days and give it all the requirements in it's enclosure it should be a perfectly happy and healthy snake
I have been trying to convince my fiance to be okay with a kenyan sand boa. I've warmed him up to the idea a bit but he's pretty stubborn. I've been showing him a bunch of videos and pictures of the adorable derpy pudge noodles that sand boas are, and I even got him to admit that some of them were cute. It's a slow going process but I'll get there.
Wait, snakes DON'T smell?! My parents and aunt have tried to deter me from getting a snake or any other reptile in the future (1 I'm 17 and 2 my mom doesn't like snakes, hence in the future…when I have a place of my own) because they've told me they (referring to reptiles in general) smell bad. Wow…thanks for the enlightenment!! Oh! Also I have a question. I'm also hoping to get a black cat (any cat really but I really would like a black one) when I'm older. You said how you have cats so I was wondering how you deal with them when you have your snakes out of their habitats. This is because I'm afraid the cat might try and eat/or hurt it. However, we do have a cat and my younger sibling has hermit crabs (she's been forgetting to take care of them, though I'm worried I wouldn't be much better) and the cat has never tried to attack them even when they were out of the habitat. Still, snakes are different, thus is my cause for concern.
Zero smell from the animal and the enclosure will only smell if it's left un-cleaned. When I was new with my reptiles, I would only handle them when I could ensure cats were out of the room, but once I was comfortable with the reptiles, I could take them out safely, just ensuring the cats keep a good distance, because they have tried taking a few swats at snakes before, but it depends on which reptile and which cat lol. Worst-case scenario, just separating time with them by closing a cat out of a room is always an option
6:11 "snake aren't going to wake you up in the middle of the night." DO I HAVE A STORY FOR YOU. My ball python has literally woken me up twice from him farting. I woke up to some really disgusting sounds, wasn't sure what was going on so I turned my on my light and I see my snake with it's mouth open trying to poop or something, and I swear to god he looked embarrassed LMFAO. He immediately shut his mouth flicked his tongue once or twice and went into his hide. The exact same story happened twice, and it's woken me up several times while moving through the leaves.
I love your videos , they're a part of my daily routine , I just woke up and watched this video, keep up the good work man ! We need more people passionate about reptiles like you !
Im actually currently making a deal with my school to let me take my BP with me as a therapy animal. He's a responsive living tangler. He makes everything I do easier because he's so calm and nice to sit with while doing homework or having difficult therapy sessions
I've been watching for about a month and have enjoyed every video I've seen of yours Alex. However, this was the first one that really made me feel warm and fuzzy inside, made me smile a genuine smile, and feel compelled to comment. Thank you for your entertaining and educational videos! My boyfriend, my new ball python Shao Kahn and I thank you! ❤ With love from Scottsdale, Arizona
Pro tip to convince your parents to get you a snake- buy one regardless and watch them fall in love with it, then get your revenge by taking it with you when you move out
I struggled with severe depression and anxiety and my ball python has helped so much through recovery. Snakes are very misunderstood and I feel the same way about myself. Many people don’t believe I have struggled a lot with mental health because I’m only 15 and I shouldn’t be “sad”. First of all, it’s way more than feeling sad. Whenever I have a bad day, even just handeling my snake can make my day. I love her so, so much and even though she can’t talk to me like a therapist can, she has helped tremendously
I just got my ball python, Pallas, yesterday, and wanted to thank you for being such an excellent source of information leading up to getting him, and I'm confident that I can give him a better life having seen your videos than I could otherwise have. Thank you!!!
conveniently I just took my snake out for some bonding time and this video was up, I'd say you also wouldn't have to worry too much about snakes being liked by your current pets cause you can keep them separated easily or some pets just don't care , like my dog, she could care less about the snake
I'm just now getting into snakes at 20 years old, I've kept many other reptiles for years as well as insects but never bred any. I'm excited to learn, you make great vids man.
Honestly bro I really didn’t like this channel but came to respect this channel and you only for the simple fact that your very consistent about your info and videos
"you always have a snoot available to boop" that one cheered me up a bit since I've been kind of in a stage of sadness/homesickness for the last few days where there hasn't been a snoot for me to boop. :)
Got a bully? If so follow this one step : show the bully your snake, than tell him or her that your snake is venomous, and that it is agressive. Problem solved.
Thanks for all the help. My English teacher just assigned us a persuasive essay and my topic; Why snakes make good pets. She screamed when I told her. I own a Jungle Carpet Python.
My parents wont let me have a snake my mom is scared of them but she wont let me explain to her why they are harmless but she just doesn't listen do i have to wait till i can work which is like in 2 years but I've been wanting a snek for a long time but oh well
This video is *awesome.* You're honesty a huge inspiration to me. I love your videos and reptiles. And the cat. *The cat too.* Your guides are very helpful. I would love to see another video(s) on setting the temperatures with thermometers and such. I've written down everything about care before I get my little snake companion, but I'm a little stuck on that part of the field, honestly. For some reason it's never quite stuck with me, and I've had a hard time understanding it all. Thanks!
Great video, very informative and I've actually learned a few things. I used to keep corn snakes and looking to get a ball python soon. Your videos are great even for those of us that have experience.
Well this is great, I have depression and am on the autism spectrum. I was already planning on getting a furless puppy, this just makes me even more excited. Now I just have to wait four years until I graduate out of college and I can get my very own danger noodle.
this is totally off the topic of this video but did anyone else notice that almost every time he finished a sentence he changed his shirt..? and this video is also really great and very informative! thanks so much!
So nice to hear a ll the plus facts of ownn a snake.they are very chill n quiet n a calm pet to own..basically easy cheap to own ty for this positive video
All of the snakes are so beautiful. I want to to get a male ale banana genetic stripe ball python or a pastel ivory ball python. They are so beautiful and so calming. I just have to convince my parents and this video will come on handy. Thank you!

As a teenager attempting to convince my parents to let me keep a snake, I can confirm this.
Blazed Herping I showed it to my dad...
Blazed Herping I've asked both of my parents, at this point they just get pissed off when I talk about snakes

I made my own with a storage container with drain covers for ventilation, it looks like a zoo in there
and then i watch my ball python go hunting when it close to feeding time and to all kinds of backbends and crazy maneuvers lol

Admirable effort to make a difference, also some kids in my school thought snakes suck blood through their fangs(they're not fricking vampires)

The exact same story happened twice, and it's woken me up several times while moving through the leaves.
i watched this to make a slideshow to convince my mom to get one and she said yes, thank you so much🥺❤️
I love your videos , they're a part of my daily routine , I just woke up and watched this video, keep up the good work man ! We need more people passionate about reptiles like you !
Im actually currently making a deal with my school to let me take my BP with me as a therapy animal. He's a responsive living tangler. He makes everything I do easier because he's so calm and nice to sit with while doing homework or having difficult therapy sessions
"Like certain animals..."*pans to the cat*
I've been watching for about a month and have enjoyed every video I've seen of yours Alex. However, this was the first one that really made me feel warm and fuzzy inside, made me smile a genuine smile, and feel compelled to comment. Thank you for your entertaining and educational videos! My boyfriend, my new ball python Shao Kahn and I thank you! ❤
With love from Scottsdale, Arizona
Pro tip to convince your parents to get you a snake- buy one regardless and watch them fall in love with it, then get your revenge by taking it with you when you move out
Gosh this video is so heartwarming. So many people coming together to proclaim their love and adoration for their snoots!
My snake keeps pooping on me... I'm gonna take it as a gift and a compliment
FoxFry _ it can mean that he's scared or stressed, maybe you have to slowly make him trust you mire so he doesnt get stressed when handled
Olive O'Connor Yeah... He's also still pretty young
Poop on it to show dominance
Merlin Mendoza hahhahahahahahaha
Merlin Mendoza
Hilarious, but no. xD
This was a really cool way to rebuttal P.E.T.A's false information I love your videos and I got a snake because of you
Love you so much Best youtuber ever
I struggled with severe depression and anxiety and my ball python has helped so much through recovery. Snakes are very misunderstood and I feel the same way about myself. Many people don’t believe I have struggled a lot with mental health because I’m only 15 and I shouldn’t be “sad”. First of all, it’s way more than feeling sad. Whenever I have a bad day, even just handeling my snake can make my day. I love her so, so much and even though she can’t talk to me like a therapist can, she has helped tremendously
1:02 where he goin??? he on the move
I just got my ball python, Pallas, yesterday, and wanted to thank you for being such an excellent source of information leading up to getting him, and I'm confident that I can give him a better life having seen your videos than I could otherwise have. Thank you!!!
Door-to-door salespeople might leave quicker if you have a snake around your neck.
Thes new videos have gotten an incredible video editing upgrade I love it keep it up herper
conveniently I just took my snake out for some bonding time and this video was up, I'd say you also wouldn't have to worry too much about snakes being liked by your current pets cause you can keep them separated easily or some pets just don't care , like my dog, she could care less about the snake
Why are people saying you're channel is bad??? its awesome
What's the song used in the very beginning?

Thanks Alex
I'm just now getting into snakes at 20 years old, I've kept many other reptiles for years as well as insects but never bred any. I'm excited to learn, you make great vids man.
snakes were kept as rodent-hunters (the same category as cats) in the ME some 5000 years ago, it's not a "new fad"
Honestly bro I really didn’t like this channel but came to respect this channel and you only for the simple fact that your very consistent about your info and videos
snakes are just so cute, especially when they drink their water
"you always have a snoot available to boop" that one cheered me up a bit since I've been kind of in a stage of sadness/homesickness for the last few days where there hasn't been a snoot for me to boop. :)
Got a bully? If so follow this one step : show the bully your snake, than tell him or her that your snake is venomous, and that it is agressive. Problem solved.
that's actually a really great idea, thanks man!
Your waa-come
Princess Sapphire great idea.
Thanks for all the help. My English teacher just assigned us a persuasive essay and my topic; Why snakes make good pets. She screamed when I told her. I own a Jungle Carpet Python.
Snakes are precious noodles :>
I'm so happy this video exists
I understand peta needs to be called out but they certainly don't need more attention or fuel either.
So awesome to see some of my reasons on here! Thank you too so much!
My parents wont let me have a snake my mom is scared of them but she wont let me explain to her why they are harmless but she just doesn't listen do i have to wait till i can work which is like in 2 years but I've been wanting a snek for a long time but oh well
0:22 Just like my child! lol
This video is *awesome.*
You're honesty a huge inspiration to me. I love your videos and reptiles.
And the cat.
*The cat too.*
Your guides are very helpful. I would love to see another video(s) on setting the temperatures with thermometers and such. I've written down everything about care before I get my little snake companion, but I'm a little stuck on that part of the field, honestly. For some reason it's never quite stuck with me, and I've had a hard time understanding it all.
Thanks!
Say to mammals "no"~
Reptiles are the way to go!
Why not both?
Roger The G.O.A.T Goodell yeah like dogs are great too
Ящер Ящерович

Great Video! Very Informative!
Great video, very informative and I've actually learned a few things. I used to keep corn snakes and looking to get a ball python soon. Your videos are great even for those of us that have experience.
Awesome video! Spread the snek love!
Thank you for making this video I hate it when people say snakes are out to get them when they just don't know anything
So glad we made this video happen!
Well this is great, I have depression and am on the autism spectrum. I was already planning on getting a furless puppy, this just makes me even more excited. Now I just have to wait four years until I graduate out of college and I can get my very own danger noodle.
This is so lovely!
this is totally off the topic of this video but did anyone else notice that almost every time he finished a sentence he changed his shirt..? and this video is also really great and very informative! thanks so much!
