Welcome back to Babymetal. I was just thinking the other day that I hadn't seen you in a while. Just remember when speaking about the subject matter of this song that it was first released in 2011 and Su was 14 and Moa and Yui were I believe 12 each. How can this not put a smile on your face. A great recommendation from Vocal.
They debuted this song in October 2010 during a Sakura Gakuin music festival, so this song is over 14 years old. At that time, Su-metal was 12, and both Yuimetal/Moametal were 11, this means Moametal (now 24) and Su-metal (now 27) have been in BABYMETAL for more than half of their lives! Since the girls were not even teens yet when BABYMETAL was formed, plus the fact that their original goal was to make metal music that young Japanese kids could relate to, the early songs sounded extra cute/kawaii and were about topics like getting ready for school, eating snacks at midnight during a sleepover, wanting chocolate, etc.
Lol, nice one! Remember, this was their very first song ever recorded, in 2010, when they were 12/11-years-old. Now, see the lyrics through the lens of these 3 kids at their age back then, and it’ll make more sense! As Babymetal grew older, this song has been phased out of their set list for many years. But they’ll bring back this classic that started it all from time to time. 🤘🦊
Nice one, thanks and welcome back! "Doki Doki ☆ Morning" was their very first song. They originated in 2010 as a subunit of a larger j-pop idol group formed by girls between 10 and 15 years old. So, it had to be necessarily poppy (and it's also a bit childish and silly) but we have to admit that it's also crazy metal for that same context. 🤣 In later live versions like this one, Su-metal imitates her younger self. Moa admitted that Su is very good at that. They don't play it live much anymore lately. Now, this is more like their version of "fan service". So, I'm so glad and honored to have experienced this very same performance in Yokohama last year. 😊 🤘🦊
Nice reaction after a long time without BABYMETAL 😉 No long story to learn something from, just: I love this song! I wake up to it, every single morning, and I love it 😄 No better way to begin the day!
Welcome back. Doki Doki is onomatopoeic for a fast or excited heart beat, the song is mainly about a girl waking up late and rushing to get ready for an exciting day at school with all her friends. As you have been told, it was originally recorded in October 2010 when Su was 12, Yui and Moa were both 11. They made their live debut with this song in November 2010, the single was released a year later along with their very first music video. The first album was released lat February 2014.
When you see the MV when the girls were 12 and 13 the song makes total sense. Plus I think Su's rap singing through the verses is cool. That chorus is so fun and catchy.
Doki Doki is onomatopoeia for the sound your hear makes when you're excited in anticipation, and it's racing and you can hear it in your ears. I personally would not translate it any more than I would translate woof woof. But if I were to translated, I would translate as excitement because that's what it conveys. I think this is great. It's good to hear a different perception of things.
💕 ⚡ 🍑 / 💓 ⏰ Like a lot of classic Metal songs, the lyrics talk about which cute hairstyle and lip gloss they should decide on for school. : ) It was this video blowing up on social media that helped BABYMETAL start to go viral, especially outside of Japan. The 'Doki Doki ☆ Morning' DVD single was released October 2011. Suzuka was thirteen, Yui and Moa were twelve. They recorded it a year before that. The self-titled album is from 2014. Although they were called BABYMETAL from the beginning, at this time they were also the "Heavy Music Club" subunit of the school themed idol group Sakura Gakuin. About the guitar you mentioned: Chris Kelly is playing a seven string Musicman Sabre in Fuchsia Sparkle. His bandmate CJ Masciantonio has a Schecter Sunset-24 7 FR in Violet Ice.

It's a real pleasure to hear Su rediscover her teenage voice for one of BABYMETAL's most joyful tracks...yo ne !?
They are so freakin adorable performing this, even as adults 10+ years later.

Definitely a catchy chorus! Overall a super fun song.
Congratulations to Suzuka Nakamoto (lead singer) on being voted MA Metal Awards Best Female Metal Singer for 2024.
this song is damn adorable

Their oldesr Song, but their Live Ahows are several levels above the miusic Video.
Ring ring ring, good morning, wake up. Still one of my favorites of theirs.
These are the Western Kamis, they never had these Costumes with the old Kamis.
The Eastern Kamis wore these costumes (ok, different masks) from 2019 through to their most recent appearances in Jan 2023.
This was their very first recording. The one that started it all.
Also, there's only been 1 Kami band (American) for years now. That's it.
Thanks for the clarity! I jump around to so many things I get confused with the overall lore of Babymetal.
Growing taller has always been Moametal's wish 😁😆😄 Thanks for your great reaction.
