I really get your point, sounds fun driving a V8 every day but 80% of the time in normal mundane a to b driving, you just think - I wish I was in something comfortable and economical. That said, I totally regret selling my Mustang 😢 Got a Nissan Leaf for daily duties but as you say, fully electric is hugely stressful, the cars are great but mentally draining to plan any journey of length. Also know how you feel with a list of jobs as long as You’re arm. I nearly went into meltdown a month or so ago, but I wrote a “worry list” and have been ticking them off one by one. Each time I get some stress relief! Latest one was a matter of mins ago getting the engine I’ve rebuilt back into car and running properly - can’t explain the weight off my shoulders - going to sleep so well! Keep up the good work, and keep the vids coming. Lot of respect for you x
Thanks for the message Nick, glad you got the car running! It is always good to make a list and tick things off as you go. I make hundreds of lists. It is therapeutic!! Take care, B x
I have a IS300H F Sport in Azure Blue and I love it. Great car all round and in my opinion looks beautiful when cleaned up. Does approx 45 miles per gallon.
I recently got a Renegade 4xe as my company car, had to reject the first one as the compressor that cools the batteries and a/c was dead on day one... Other than that, not a bad car to drive, the electric motor shoves it along nicely (190bhp in total), but I've also found that public charging is a bit ropey, would defo recommend a plug in if you can charge at home 👍
Would love to see a bit more Evo 6 content 🙏. Maybe a road trip with James on the Kerry rally stages 👌. Show your viewers what the Evo is really capable of.
Sill seams will be pumped from years of being jacked up directly on them by previous owners. If you get them sorted out try make sure to lift by the subframe (usually around the wishbone back bushing bolt) and only use axle stands on the sill seam . It cuts down the amount of side load applied to the seams , especially on older cars that need as much help as they can get 👍👍
100% understand having that battle. Fuel prices are ridiculous and are probably not going to get better. The way to go at the minute is hybrid. The full electric infrastructure just isn't the at the minute. Swap for a hybrid daily commuter all day long.
Had 2 Evo VI TME`s over the Years. Both Silver. Loved them both. They deserve saving the VI’s. I know they can be a pain in the Bum Becky (tiny tank) etc 😂……..but hitting the Corners Hard, they’re unbelievable. Keep with it Becky, make it well again……….👁
I totally get it. Why spend go faster money on your daily commuter? I was thinking of a plug in hybrid that can tow at least 1800kg for my track car, but given the 54% increase in gas and electricity I'm not sure how much I'll actually save 😬 shits getting expensive
Happy New Year. I swapped my BMW 140i for a Cupra Formentor 245 hybrid because most of my journeys are local I rarely have to visit the petrol station unlike whenI had the 140i. I must say having to plug the car in is a bit of a nuisance and only getting 26 miles charge is a bit of a pain. However unfortunately hybrids are the future.
Only if you want them to be. It actually costs more to produce a Hybrid car than an average Toyota Corolla so in effect making hybrid and Electric cars damages the environment more than manufacturing the worlds highest selling small cars lol. this was a British study too. However on the flip side it must be nice not going broke at the petrol bowser when they decide to hike the price up just because they can lol
Looks like u guys have some nice cars but that rust imo is minimal... I deal with older nova,xr2, mk 4escort... anything is worth doing. There getting thin on the ground, love the older BMW's not into I pad bms. Keep up the hard work
An isolator on the E21 is a good idea, will save killing the battery (just got to remember to switch it off which is easy to forget!) do you miss the F80? Or is the E92 a good replacement?
I miss it some days, but the e92 is far more fun to drive and it’s a cult classic. The f80 was good whilst I had it but I sold at the peak time in the market. I got all my money back after owning it for 2 years!
So doing the conversion for the Americans in the audience, average UK prices for 3.8L (US Gallon) converted to USD is about $7.64, then factor in 18 mpg UK (4.5L) to the smaller US gallon of 3.8L, is about 14.5 mpg. So, paying almost $8 a gallon on a car that gets under 15 mpg on the daily, yeah, I would also consider a plug-in hybrid at this point. Best of both worlds.
To continue enjoying IC engine cars, Hybrid and Electric vehicles are going to have to happen. I've looked at getting an electric car for around town daily running so I can thrash my V8 and not worry about how much fuel I've blown though
i got a home charging device fitted to charge up my mini 3 and it is total s.it so have to go to the mcdonalds charger and it charges in about 7 min lol but the mini 3 is great you should try it becky i leave everybody standing its the traffic stations the police put up it slows you down but always stick to the road limit if you get what i mean.
Yeah, you could spend the same on leasing the same on leasing an x5 m50i as you are on fuelling a e92 m3 v8, but you’ve still got to fuel the thing. Bet that goes single figures when you put your toe down.
Not a big fan of the hybrids, the EV side doesn’t seem to give that much extra… However for a daily the VW GTE seems to be one of the best, they are pretty cool all around, size, interior, sport, acceleration, etc., try one out….
If it's purely money then there is plenty of fun diesels out there. If its about carbon footprint. I often wonder how much emmisions are released by all the oem factories making a whole new electric car from scratch. Best to "recycle" and buy and old, cool car with personality.
Due to the fact that the 930 the Evo6 the M3 the s15 and the e21 are all on my all time faves list your getting a free pass on all the scary electric talk🤣🤣
Mitsubishi sadly went SUV nutty :( . Even the base lancer was a good value for money car for every day people. However the insane love affair most have over SUV's spells the death of many good cars now. The only bad thing about the Evo was that for the price the interior looked more like it was made in Kmart.
I am or was running an e46 m3 every day. Had the same dilemma, I was thinking I could have a brand new electric car for the amount I spend every month on petrol. It was running around in my head for a few months as I needed a something for bringing the dog too which the m3 wasn’t very practical at doing. Long story short I bought a a 5.4 v8 supercharged estate and was sat next to an electric car the other day in traffic and knew I had made the right decision. I don’t go on lots of solely fun journeys, I get most of my enjoyment from just normal use so for me I don’t think I could live with an electric car.
I could literally mortgage a house on what my GR Yaris drinks doing 300-400 miles a week. Contemplating an MG5 Long Range Estate, but I know I’ll be bored stiff.
boring, but honestly practical. Means you have more money to take the GR on a savage road trip with a nice hotel and a few beers with the lads. I know which one I would prefer!! Having something that is economical makes me appreciate how wild the other cars are, makes the miles even more special.
@@BeckyEvans Yeah I find my tolerance to acceleration builds up really fast. Nothing really seems that fast on the straights after my Ducati, but the GR is close (and it out corners any bike massively).
Thinking about your carbon footprint.... I pay a company to offset my carbon footprint, so I feel less guilty about driving my 20mpg truck around. Just a thought 🤷♂️
I'm highly against the electric and hybrid cars. Most of the cases the solution is a GOOD public transport and/or home office and/or smart city planning. Maybe your lifestyle where don't really fits these, so yeah, your solution soemthing else. Have you ever considered LPG or FCV?
RWD only Tesla would be my pick. Nissan Leaf - boring has hell. Zoe 40- slow but more fun. Heater crap. Corsa E - hilariously fun for FWD econobox but Vauxhall dealers are completely useless. Matrix headlights on it were also brilliant. Supercharger network stops all the hassle with charging and Tesla have got more of the complete package. Drive some. It's the only way to decide. ONTO do monthly rental with insurance included so you could go down that route with a few different ones to see which you might want longer term. My weekend car is another burning £50 notes for fun club member V8 and I have daily-ed quite a few ludicrous cars over the years. Unless the commute is actually on interesting roads a sensible-ish car isn't a bad idea.
um E-Hybrids ,well E300e petrol not diesel half UK-gallone for 100km plug in plug out -no way the hands get dirty 🙄 BBS Alu onto a 6N (at 60.000km breakpad changing) without a Hammer slam...Asia Alu and axles are not the best 🥳💨
Hey Becky! You're talking about an electric car. Here is a Finnish guy who owns a 2012 Tesla and it needs new batteries. The guy gets a shock when he finds out that switching to new batteries will cost around 20,000 Euros, so he chooses instead to blow the shit up in the air. th-cam.com/video/DG9Izqp6WWU/w-d-xo.html Another TH-camr in the USA had the same Tesla model and year, he also found out that it would cost him as much to change the batteries on his Tesla as for the guy in Finland. (Though he does not blow up the car) but changed the batteries.
No interest in electric cars, if you are doing big miles then a diesel is fine for a daily. Evo is stunning, miss my old Evo 6 so badly. Prices are only going up so worth spending the money on rust prevention.
Meh, this is easy. If you're spending time just getting from A to B, and it fits the majority of your commuting style driving, then electric makes much, much more sense. Keep the hydrocarbons for the enjoying drives, not the dull ones.
Buy what you want but for the love of God don't mix it in the channel. This is a drivers channel (or at least one feels good around 930's, e30's, e92's, Evo's, etc) with very nice cars. Keep it that way please.
Fair enough, I will always have my driver focussed cars as my favourites. That will never EVER change. I love my ICE engines, I have just found it ridiculous running a V8 everyday - with tax breaks and benefit in kind for businesses it actually works really well to run an electric or hybrid. I have to keep up with the times, there is a lot of pressure from manufacturers to cover electric content so I am keeping things moving. The 930 will always be my queen though 🙌🏻
If it was me I'll stick with a little petrol hatchback (I drive a Yaris to work and it goes 100 km with 1 gallon) or something maybe a little bigger. Either way, for shore I would keep it way from the channel. They're not fun, historic or disarable for the true car fan that you and most of us are. If they state 55 miles on battery for that hybrid you’ll be lucky to get 30 by the time you got heater and heated seats/window going.
Lowest we've had on our 45e is 49 (now it's cold) and highest 61 miles up to November. Not a fall in love car but it's a good daily
Happy new years sorry if it's too late but I enjoy your content, and yes last video was a banger
Harrys Garage has a good vid on hybrids, and seems to be working out quite well for him

Forget Hybrid just go full electric (Porsche Taycan), then at the weekends you can appreciate the noise of petrol power
Got a green Hyundai i20 that does 55 mpg if ur keen. 👀
