Grew up skating and surfing in Venice beach in the era of early grab airs off launch ramps etc. Feels so good to do these on my Carver now at 48 years old.
You bet,I,m an old man now,61 and just bought a new board,32 x 10 and Haven,t ridden pools since 1987 and am legally blind in both eyez, andhacpve a pacemaker in my chest beating my heart for me,and I use a cane to walk, but Once on my board,I,m carving it up.Never too old t0ROCK!!!
yall finally posted after such a long time! i got my carver a couple months ago and i absolutely love mine!! i recommend getting one for the ones who dont have one. my surfing has definitely improved to the point where i get to go down to regionals in north carolina to compete with kids all across the eastern shore!! yewww
I just got my first Carver CX a week ago, the Black Tip, and I noticed Carver was selling the Triton series for 50% off, and also ordered one of those in a shorter wheelbase. Tons of fun !
@@Natertaterr it give the rear a feeling like the fin on a surfboard and ads maybe 20% to proposition. The carver front truck has the better mechanism though. But you can get the rear from waterborne by itself I think around 40 bucks American. What also is great about mine is I love 107mm flywheels I never have to kick and that's what I've always been looking for.
I,m bk on a board after not riding pools since 1987, I,m now 61 and use a cane to walk, and am legally blind in both eyez. And a pacemaker in my chest beating my heart 81% of the time.Soooo if you live to mY age ,I hope ya cAn still carve it up like I was this morning...I was shredding empty pools in the 70’s and 80’s..Now I,m just carving up the streets here in T-town(Truckee,CA)...PeAcE!!!
Gnarrmasterflex X not talking technical ability. The tech side of skating ( hell,BMx, Snow boardin etc) is Ages ahead. I’m talking filmography, flow , the feeling of the videos.
@@brianlocal3 Flow. Some skaters have it still (Andy etc). Bert's, laybacks, nosewheelie carves. The influence of the early pool/allround skaters like Z boys, Adams, Alva, Peralta the better flatlanders like Nadalin, Martinez, Andress, Page. Some of the newer female skaters actually have more flow. Sky Brown, Armato(?) Not saying there isn't technical greatness in Mullenesque, Isamu-ish , Hawk-ish approach to the various disciplines (and they do sometimes flow.) More of a staccato kineticism though which is also fun to watch.
I want to learn how to surf but I live in southwest florida where surfing doesn't exist. any tips? should I go somewhere to get an instructor? I'm a skater.
C7 or CX trucks ?I'm buying my first carver ! Have the 29" penny with waterborne trucks which is cool. But it requires so little pumping. Very lose . I like more the heavier carving...
Before buying my first Carver I watched dozens of videos, read dozens of articles or comments regarding this question and finally went for a board with the C7. This first drive I will never forget. It felt as if some had put rockets under my feet. I had never driven a surfskate but it felt so effortless. Absolutely amazing! But: Something kept nagging, and then I also bought the CX set. Now I have a 30" Carver deck with the CX as a daily driver and a 36" (12" wide!) with the C7 for fun and games. I love them both but if I had to decide I would choose my daily driver mit the CX truck. 90% of the surf feeling, stable at higher speeds, lighter and it looks great. Therefore my advice: I you want a jack of all trades, go for the CX!

He never did play a surfer, Sean Penn who did as Spicoli.
Hellyeah Carving it up Lords of Dogtown Style nothing like that Old School style of Surf Skating Thrash 💀🛹🩸💯
Nicely done 😁🤙 Me since '84.
Ripper indeed. I put a waterborne rear surf rail on my Carved and I gotta say it ripps a little more.
you’d recommend mixing the two?

Just like me late 70s!!
I feel like this style of skating would be a lot easier than modern trick skating (street skating). It looks like a lot more fun.
It is.Flipping your board while riding is just not a pool riders thing,un functional.
This would be amazing in 1962
73.That's the whole point.
Still amazing. And actually better and more pure than a lot of what we see now.
Some people just wanna flow
@@brianlocal3 better then what we see now?lol
You obviously don’t know anything about skating
