      I think this one's actually an Ibanez, but yes, Gibson could do with improving the design. Trouble is, they did that in the 70s with a really strong 3-piece maple neck with a volute, then their customers didn't like that it was different from the Les Pauls that their favourite guitarists played back in the day.

    • @LUKEjoneCAJ
      @LUKEjoneCAJ ปีที่แล้ว

      Screws would not work. They would have to be drilled perpendicular to the neck into braces that fit the curve of the neck... And since your thumb slides up and down the neck, and you would have to also have it on the fret board, that would render the instrument unplayable. You lack the ability to think the situation through to the end result. This guitar is meant to be played again. I'm skeptical about it to, but I'm also not going to talk about something I obviously don't understand like I know what I'm talking about.

    • @djstringsmusic2994
      @djstringsmusic2994 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was a clean break with a steep angle and a ton of gluing surface. If it was more straight up and down and more of an end grain to end grain joint, then you'd need to spline it. For this, no it's not necessary

    Wach full here ;)
    th-cam.com/video/UEkZNkOBA08/w-d-xo.html
    1. "Gluing the truss rod" - you can't do a metal+wood bond with Titebond, bc it's dont fit for this purpose. Beside that - truss rod here is in polyethylene film, and polyethylene, you know, dont really gluable at all.
    2. "Truss rod non-adjustable now" - the nut located on the other side, and look first p, in case of any further questions about gluing the truss rod.
    3. "Rubber, lol?" - in case of perfect fit of parts this is the best method bc it compresses from all sides and hold crack firmly. In case of any other clamp you get only two point of pressure, damaged wood and helluva lot of other issues
    4. "SPLINES" - Nope, gluing cracks with THIS much area don`t need any splines. And doesn`t affect playability at all. It will definitely sounds bit different, but not so much as many told here and after all it plays again :)

    Nice result, but I’d have skipped the paint step. Sometimes customers request that things be done a certain way, so I’m not necessarily ragging on the luthier here. But I find you can get pretty solid results without having to paint over the wood grain by just using a bit of tinted shellac to blend the edges. Sometimes tinting isn’t even necessary, with a neck like this I’d probably just use a more amber colored shellac, not the super blonde kind.
