I was going to bring the cat in. I put a post on fb and he had a home! They left him outside for 2 days during a rain storm! Anyways i woke up last week and seen dove feathers on the trampoline & on the ground. My son found my lonesome dove dead next to the tree. I cried and buried him under the tree and put an angel statue on hos grave. Ill never feed or love an outside cat again! I'm so glad you took care of this beautiful bird! Thank you! ❤️ 🐦 sorry this is so long!

@@CMaldonado1690 I imagine the bird didn't make it. I too, found an injured pigeon and it doesn't look like the little feathered friend is going to make it. A newly hatched pigeon I kept an eye on in Oxford city centre spent 10 days on the ground in the market square accessing water I provided in a tiny plastic dish positioned under a bench and refilled daily. It spent those days watching & learning from other pigeons - and on the 10th day I was delighted to see the bird suddenly take off and fly to a group of birds it had spotted 50ft away
Just found a pigeon with an injured wing, my vet saw him, said he could not fly maybe never and that I should raise him like a chicken and treat his wing. So wish me luck!

Such a heart warming video 🥰well done! I wish everyone had hearts like you two! I’ve just rescued a magpie that was attacked by a cat. I scared the cat off him and he got up and ran off under a shed. Took me 4 hours but I finally got him out (I didn’t wanna leave him there as there’s a lot of cats around the area) but he’s currently in my lizards old vivarium I’ve provided water and worms and bird suet I had. And I’ve covered the tank as he’s very tired and been through a lot. Will be checking on him in the morning and on Monday headed to a bird rescue centre 🥰
Brought in a wood pigeon which was sat by the side of the road for an hour in the pouring rain. It walked away from me but couldn't fly so I brought it home. In a box now with food and water and some paper to nest in. Hoping it is only stunned and will fly tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Your video was encouraging. Thank you.
So kind of you. Looks like a Collard Dove, possibly got away from its loft. Usually wild Collard Doves are not that tame. It may have had a head trauma and needed a few days to recover. Hopefully it flew back to its loft 🕊
I would have had the vet check him out. A broken collarbone isn't visible but will prevent the bird from taking flight. Looks like he got well, which is good for him, well done! Probably just a concussion.
I just found an injured Magpie on the side of the road being attacked by another bird I stopped picked up took it to my place, I found out, after I went through his body, that his left wing is injured. He could move it though, I cleaned the wound and I put him in a box with seeds and water. He is not interesting of drinking or eating. This happened about an hour ago. I called the word life left a message and I am waiting to see if they will call me back. Your video gave me some hope so, thank you!
Awesome vid! I've rescued several doves over the yrs and it amazes me how sweet and trusting they are. I have one that still comes to my door once and a while sitting on the matt.
TQ for sharing your 5 days journey with the bird. Mine wasn't so lucky. It was attacked & I kept it for 5 days too. Injures were healed & I brought her to the Vet on the 3rd day which must have scared her badly . The stress eventually killed her. I'm feeling very sad & remorseful.
Aww 🥰 we had a bad hail storm pass thru my city and there was alot of hail damage to property around the city. The next afternoon I went to check my mailbox and as I was going back to my apt I saw a badly injured baby bird on the ground. I watched him for a while and was trying to see if maybe his parents came down to check on him but no other birds came down to check on him so I decided to him with me. There are also several stray cats and dogs around these Apts and I didn't want to let him get killed by them or run over with a riding lawnmower by the lawnmower men we get every Monday. Once I took him inside I saw his beak is damaged. Poor little guy. I started to look up on TH-cam on what to do for him. I made it a nest from shredded paper and put that in a sturdy paper bag. I tried feeding him water with a spoon but it wouldn't take any. Looked like it just wanted to sleep so I left it alone and at 4 am I heard chirping and I went to try to feed it and give it some water. I mixed a little bit of dry bread with water and fed him with a straw. He seemed to prefer that to a spoon. I'm glad to see him eat and drink some. I put fresh shredded paper and some warm wash cloths to keep him warm. I'm taking him to the vet in the morning and go from there. I just couldn't leave him out there defenseless and hurt. I decided to call him Elmer because he looks like an Elmer to me.
oh Jesus, end made me cry. my friend brought me a baby dove that fell out of shop rafters where she works. I been feeding him baby parrett food and hes doing great. I had plans of releasing him when older but now I dont want to. Its ok to have him as house pet, he loves me and I him, maybe safe is better than being wild
I found an injured pigeon or precisely my beagle dog found it while sniffing away all over the back yard. It was going round in circles and turning it's head. So took dog back into house, went to get box, put holes in the box, put newspapers in, got large cloth to cover over top, then ran to where it is, and...it was gone. I don't know if a cat took it or it fixed itself flew away. It may have been in shock seeing my dog and was paralyzed for a bit with fear and then when I took my dog back to house, it had time to relax and flew away. Got me thinking to by a bird cage as there's lot of pigeons in my large garden. Thanks for video, very helpful.
Same story here. I was out with my daughter front of our building and somehow from an electrical pole two doves did fall down. My daughter told me they were on the ground, got there, pick them both, bring them in and try to check if they're okay. A baby(just like the one you had) and an adult. The adult was hard to handle cause was scared of humans so... After 2 days just open my window. Hold her in the air and after 30 seconds she fly away in the trees. Now i remain with the little one which in first day was eating and was fine but now just dont want. She loves same to stay front of window in our balcony, on a chair looking outside all day long, pecking herself and all that stuff.. And see her preparing to take off for fly..... But she just dont have the trust. Today, as i saw she s not eating much (but seems she poops a lot) i was thinking to take her out and do the same thing to see if she will fly away. I was thinking to keep her, but her happiness is beyond mine so..... I want her to go back her home and family..... They re here around somewhere....
@The Battling Dude I don't know who is more adorable! You or the Morning Dove! Thank you Thank you Thank you for posting your journey with this Dove because our cat brought one in with all it's feathers off on the back. It can fly but no tail wings.! Poor thing. So here we are, winter s here, I couldn't let it go out there like that. thank you so much for giving us hope that we can help the poor thing and that's it's ok and not to panic when it acts like a dumb blond, :) (((((HUGS from across the Pond in Canada ))))))) You people ROCK! xooxxo Have a good one.
Wonderful wonderful rescue . Bless you and your father for your kind heart and patience. I rescued a pigeon an hour ago and I was searching to get some advices of what to do . This pigeon has an injured leg and was hunted by a cat . So scary . I should call a vet . So cute to see that beautiful bird on shoes ❤️. I know we should be happy if the rescue succeed but I’m kinda sad 🥲 . I was hoping that you keep the bird as a pet even though birds are meant to be free . But you know , cats. Btw I subscribed . I want to support your channel because you spread positivity.
Wonderful video. I'm attempting care for a Robin, attacked by a cat. He/She, the bird, has some pretty bad injuries. Have a feeling this is going to be a long venture care wise. Key thing: dark room. Shock and trauma combined with bite wounds not easy. Clean gently. Glass eyedropper best for water and even 'mushed' up seeds. Patience is vital like you were.
I found a pigeon, injured on the head, very dirty, in a really bad shape not moving on the grown breathing heavely. I put him in a box and he spend 4 or 5 nights with us. I took him to the vet they said he had a bacteria and gave him antibiotics. They tought me how to feed him. He wasn't really drinking or feeding so I forced feed him like a baby, I looked at every videos on internet on how to do it and the vet showed me how. But it died when I woke up to check on him in the morning like I normally would. I see you haven't forced use to feed, maybe I shoudl'nt have done that maybe I should have let him choose when to eat but the vet said they were so skinny he probably was starving for a while. Idk why he died. I'm really sad and feel guilty because idk if I did everything properly or not. The thing is after 2 days he started walking a little, flying a little but I wanted to keep him to finish his treatment and until he was able to feed on his own. He was walking very strangely, one step on the other helping himself with his wings, walking few steps then sleeping. I bought a cat's cage so I can put it inside at night and when I can't look after him because the bacteria is very dangerous for human and I didn't want him pooping everywhere I have an old bird and an old dog I have to protect. Maybe he tried to escape it and got hurt.. so I feel guilty idk what I should have done and idk why he died. I tried my best. I love how you handled everything with that bird
I have had a dove that looks like yours 4 days now it flew over the fence on the 2 nd day when I got a little close,I live in central California and it's a real hot and dry time...out front of my place I have a LARGE Pecan tree,oak....3 bird feeders, doves come, and alot others,I don't know why this little is in the small back patio....so cute...I'm going to try some of your ideas☺️🕊️🌺🐞🦋🌼♥️😁
Thank you so much for uploading this video. I have been googling for the last two days how to help a dove we found (it doesn't appear injured, no interest in flying or eating) and this video has brought me so much hope! Thank you!!!
Lots of doves, wild birds don't wanna eat/drink when captured. Try putting him somewhere where he's more comfortable or maybe put food & water on the outside, where he can eat/drink it by himself.
Great story! We have a dove injured on our balcony and it is getting attacked by other doves and squirrels so we found your video searching for advice. Thanks for the video! We got some tips and lots of laughs, especially when I pooped in your hand and flew off. Cheers
Good video. A friend of mine took dry dog food and wet it to where it was moist but you could form it to a small log shape. Her wild birds ate it well and off a spoon as well. I’ve got a very injured mocking bird. It must be an adult because it wouldn’t open its mouth for food. I saw all kinds of contrasting ideas about how to treat her bloody wounds. I did call my Vet and they recommended Vetericyn VF Plus to spray 4 times a day. We’ll see how that goes. So far it is eating and drinking. My other worry is with hardly no feathers from a cat tearing them off probably how warm should I keep it. Should I put it outside where it is 90 degrees or bring it in where it is 78? I’ll be researching that next. Thanks
Ive just brought in a pigeon that has pretty much the same symptoms, maybe 2h ago, and i am now desperately searching youtube and the web for advice what to do, thats how i came to this video, thank you for sharing this, i just hope we end up with similar happy ending, ive never had a pet bird, ive very recently had to say goodbye to my cat friend, but this bird he was just sitting there by the door to my building for 3 days and nights straight and i couldnt leave him there just to be snached by a feral. i havent told anyone i lknow because pigeons are considered pests where i live, but if anyone has some advice i would appreciate it
I met a injured pigeon who had its feathers plucked out, cuts, one eye that couldn’t open and a broken wing, I looked after it for a day but my mum wouldn’t let it stay anymore and put the poor thing in a tree. It’s still up there and ALIVE Edit: a crow had attacked it and was on top of it, me and my brother’s friends scared it away.
How did it all turn out? One of my cats brought in a spotted dove last night, one eye won't open either and his beak seems to be a bit Injured... Wings seem OK but he walks a bit lopsided
I think he was just a baby and didn't know how to eat. I was feeding wild pigeons on my balcony, and I saw when a new baby pigeon arrives, he just doesn't know how to eat and what is food, but then he's encoured by other pigeons to learn from them how to eat and what is food. So I think your pigeon needed a company of other experienced pigeons to learn from them.
Currently I have the same dove in my care. He was this dark lump in the middle of a very busy road, I went back. Something made me blurt out that’s a bird and it’s alive. He spent the day resting and I gave letting him go a try. He could only flap and run away. Like you all, cats around, but more rodents which would eat him. So bask inside for the night. Going to check on him now. Hoping he’s still alive.
I know the story was a long time ago. But I want to thank you for taking such good care of the little dove. Your shoes looked a bit like a grey pigeon 😉 Maybe that's why she chose them as her favourite place. It could be that the pigeon was still very young. It also still had a bit of fluffy feathers on its chest and sides. I have observed at our bird feeder in the garden that the young birds, but they were tits and finches, hop around next to their parents and expect to be fed. They stand with both feet in the food, the mother next to them, she eats and the young bird waits, sometimes it begs, but it does not peck and eat on its own. They can't do that yet. Maybe offering it some seeds with a pair of tweezers would have helped. I have read that pigeons do not "spar", which is the typical begging behaviour in birds when they open their beaks wide. This makes hand-feeding with porridge a bit more difficult, but you can read about that on the internet, how to do it and what kind of porridge, etc. Most birds also like peanuts very much. They are always the first to go at the feeder. I couldn't score points with mealworms either 😅 Your pigeon was also quite trusting, I don't think because it was injured, but a young bird. It looks like a Eurasian collared dove (in German it is called "Türkentaube") but didn't have a band on its neck yet, also a sign of a young bird. They still hop a lot on the ground or climb around in the branches or bushes because they can't fly very well yet. But the parents are usually around to help them feed and explore. I think the little pigeon felt comfortable with you anyway and I hope it has reconnected with its parents and colleagues, who will then accompany it further into life. 😊 Kind regards from the German Baltic coast.❤ PS. Have you seen her again?
So, just this evening, very similar story. I noticed a young pigeon on the grass of our back garden. Our Cat nearby stalking it. But the pigeon not doing very much about it other than taking a few steps away as the cat approached it. I stayed and watched, the cat got closer and pigeon attempted to fly, only got a couple of foot off the ground, the cat trying to catch it, Fortunately for the pigeon she's an old one, 15yrs, so not as agile as her younger self. I stepped in. Now the pigeon is in a cat carrier in the conservatory with some barley (only seeds I have) and water. Hopefully it'll be okay tomorrow. We have cats and foxes in this area and if it can't fly it won't last a day! Finger's crossed.
I’ve got to say, you’ve done an amazing job! Very well done. I’ve just found a little bird today by the roadside which I’m currently caring for. I’ve got clips on my social media but I’m also thinking of adding a longer version to my TH-cam Channel.
Hello. I'm in exactly the same situation here. In Arizona. My dogs and neighbors cats are all around where I found him. I was giving him makeshift crop milk. From a plastic bag, with a little hole in it for his beak. He loves it.ans eats well. I'm tempted to do what you did. But he's not a strong flyer. I'm thinking of bringing him to a wildlife rescue around my town. I wonder if they'll even take him. 🤔 idk, is he imprinted on me? Is it too late. It's so hot here now. I don't even see any other birds out now. Except maybe humming birds.
Hi. I am from India. I just rescued a dove who fall off injured after a battle with crow. In search of how to take care I found ur video. Let's hope my dove also get well soon and fly away
I know that cats are poisonous for birds. I think dogs too. Once their claws cause wounds, and makes contact with the birds blood, they will die. Maybe you should get him checked out at a vet to be safe if you want to. It would be good.
@@karinam4488 Hello again, I brought it home, gave it a bath, it was flapping its wings, I wrapped it up in a towel, and put it in a box, it seemed at peace, it did not make it over night, I can never save an I hired animal, all my life I try and help, at least we don't let them die in agony,...
@@SuperBaconFishing thank u so much for replying 🙏🏼 Aawwe, that’s still very sweet of u to care enough to try and help ❤️ I think plenty of people wouldn’t have done antng at all and just went on about their day like nothing. The pigeon I found had a “twisted” neck - a classic sign of paramyxovirus. He stayed with me for 3 days, he was getting better until he just flew away. That was a mistake on my part - should’ve made sure he couldn’t get away, at least not until next morning. Thanks again, and good luck to u 🌻 and don’t u get discouraged - This planet needs more people like u!
So sweet. I just found an injured barn swallow. Broken wing. The local rehabbers around are either full or haven't returned my call (i've tried reaching out to 4 that were within an hours drive)... I want to try to help him if I can, but not sure what to do about setting the wing. I think I found him pretty soon after he was injured I saw him down in the parking lot from my window just after I came in from the store. So I'm hoping he didn't have to endure too much stress between being injured- and me scooping him up to help. He's been sleeping on an off .. I'm tempted to offer water now, but should probably leave him be until tomorrow and just try to research how to give him some proper TLC.
Beautiful ring-necked dove! He may have been someone's pet. I'm not sure where ring-necked doves first originated, but if you're in the United Kingdom, I think that turtle doves are the native species there.
Ty very appreciative that was really helpful I’ve also just rescued my first avian guest and am a little unsure how to go about it but a little care and some patience and it should b ok hopefully
Just got into a similar situation. Very injured though. He's doing well. Drinking water. And eating, but I think his leg is broken and his back feathers are worn.
Awesome! Our cat brought a dove in today and his wing was damaged and he was in shock. So I made him a nice nest in a cage to keep him safe and warm, gave him some water with a little dropper and he actually looks like he's going to make it. We'll see in the morning. I crushed up some cheerios and put some greens and a piece of grape in with him and a little dish of water. He actually started flapping his wings after a while perching on my finger. I have high hopes he'll make a full recovery, but it's questionable if he will be able to fly again due to the damage to his wing... but he was flapping it so idk. I was wondering if I should give him some kind of anti-biotic for the wound or vitamins or anything? Any advice?
My patio was home this year to four baby birds...two at a time. Now mom and dad and the family of four live in the fir tree behind me. I had made them a nest box in which they made a stick nest. They have used it two years.
@@deborahstevenson9301 How awesome is that! After having direct contact with a wild dove, and seeing how smart and loving they are, it amazes me. Unfortunately, my little guy didn't make it. The bacteria from the cat bite is what kills them. If I could have got him some anti biotic sooner and known about the Manuka Honey thing sooner, I might have been able to save him. But it was a real blessing to have those few days with him (or her not sure). He was such a sweet bird. Very aware that I was trying to save him.
i found a similar bird in my yard last night and she’s breathing heavy here and there. her wing is exposed, maybe she was attacked or caught? how do i clean it? bandage? idk what i’m doing but i do have cats outside. i brought her in my garage she hasn’t really eaten or drank anything, but she managed to fly above me twice out the box. should i release her or try to clean her wounds? she was extremely lethargic last night but she’s moving around today. she’s got some bone or flesh exploded behind the wing (i suppose her scalpels area behind the neck). same bird too! someone please advise
I just found a pigeon with a bloody wing, I didn't know what to do so I watched your video. I'm now going to find a pair of shoes for him to relax in and give him some water.

😇😇❤️💯 I saved 2 pigeons and they show me so much love, miss them so much they are amazing, intelligent and funny creatures ❤️💯
God bless you for helping the darling bird.
oh Jesus, end made me cry. my friend brought me a baby dove that fell out of shop rafters where she works. I been feeding him baby parrett food and hes doing great. I had plans of releasing him when older but now I dont want to. Its ok to have him as house pet, he loves me and I him, maybe safe is better than being wild
seeing a bird not wanting to eat is heartwrenching😢
This is just so sweet
They re here around somewhere....
just found a bird using ur vids as guidance thanx brother
They can store food in their crops for later. It looked like he had some food stored.
Excellent work sir 👏 👍 God bless you 🙏
@The Battling Dude I don't know who is more adorable!
Good to see the pigeon made it through 👍
Us too!
I really enjoy this video and have lost track of how many times I’ve watched. Thank you. Well done!
Is the bird fine? Did you name it?
After approx 1 week...put outside, guarded it, until they decided it was time to 'fly the Coop' and regain freedom.
Same thing im going through now. Mine has a wound to the chest. Will it heal?
@@jessicacathleen8360 how'd it get hurt?
Best off the cuff advice; call a local Vet or call a university that can assist. As we know, things vary case by case. Best of luck. Mike.
Thank you for sharing i found a little one today on my walk took him home with me but mine is anxious you definitely gave me some ideas. Thank you.
He's a lucky bird to have met you good human! Good job!!! Tks
I have a dove that hit the window. I will follow your video and hope for the best. Thank you.
You did so well by this bird. I loved watching this video.
That’s cool we rescued a baby cardinal that had been attacked by my grandmas cat
Thanks :)
Please keep your cats indoors folks. They are taking away our lovely birds all over the world.

Omg I love him sooo much
He was a good house guest 👌
Poor baby he is officially in love with your home he doesn’t want to be on the streets anymore 😅.
Amazing. Well done. Loved the narrating. Fantastic job!
Great story! We have a dove injured on our balcony and it is getting attacked by other doves and squirrels so we found your video searching for advice. Thanks for the video! We got some tips and lots of laughs, especially when I pooped in your hand and flew off. Cheers
Hey, at least he left you a parting gift.
It’s still up there and ALIVE
Edit: a crow had attacked it and was on top of it, me and my brother’s friends scared it away.
How did it all turn out? One of my cats brought in a spotted dove last night, one eye won't open either and his beak seems to be a bit Injured... Wings seem OK but he walks a bit lopsided
It's ok, you did everything you could, once you'll live alone without your mother you can rescue as many as you want, you're a wonderful person
Good on you for helping these poor critters.
I think you're right, because that's what I believe too.
I couldn't score points with mealworms either 😅
Your pigeon was also quite trusting, I don't think because it was injured, but a young bird.
Kind regards from the German Baltic coast.❤
PS. Have you seen her again?
Colleagues 😂😂😅 yes hopefully it got back to work to see his work colleagues 😂🤣
I love how he just sat on the shoes-
I’ve got to say, you’ve done an amazing job!
Gracias por rescatar esa palomita ❤
If you watched this and Subscribed you are helping me get closer to helping more animals so well done you keep it up.
Hi. I am from India. I just rescued a dove who fall off injured after a battle with crow. In search of how to take care I found ur video. Let's hope my dove also get well soon and fly away
hopefully, it just takes time .
He alright?
@@Skate4Pls it's feathers were broken so it couldn't fly. But it ran away once it got a chance and I couldn't find it after that
😕
My dog injured a wild bird , i just brought him inside an hour ago got him some water and let him rest I hope he recovers !
I know that cats are poisonous for birds. I think dogs too. Once their claws cause wounds, and makes contact with the birds blood, they will die. Maybe you should get him checked out at a vet to be safe if you want to. It would be good.
How did he do mate? Mine has just done the same thing.
Just found a pigeon struggling in the water as I was fishing, my little guy doesn’t look so well, hope I can save em....
It’s been a week since u found the bird and wrote a comment, I’d love to know if there r any updates. Just found a pigeon in our garage….
@@SuperBaconFishing thank u so much for replying 🙏🏼
Aawwe, that’s still very sweet of u to care enough to try and help ❤️ I think plenty of people wouldn’t have done antng at all and just went on about their day like nothing.

THANK YOU THIS SAVED MY LIFE
(I found an injured baby sparrow attacked by my cat)
I love this bird when it makes the cooo coooo sounds
I'm not sure where ring-necked doves first originated, but if you're in the United Kingdom, I think that turtle doves are the native species there.
yeah not sure we've not seen him since but we did what we could gave him at least and extra week of life even if he diied the day after he flew away
I have learned so much from this video thank you 😃
Ty very appreciative that was really helpful I’ve also just rescued my first avian guest and am a little unsure how to go about it but a little care and some patience and it should b ok hopefully
Just got into a similar situation. Very injured though. He's doing well. Drinking water. And eating, but I think his leg is broken and his back feathers are worn.
How do birds break their legs ? Like wtf happened to them ? How could it possibly happen ?!

Well done , beautiful story ! Hope the little guy didn’t get caught by them darn cats .
Thanks for posting
His obsession with shoes was kinda funny to be honest.
💜💙💚 Lovely video. Thank you.
So kind of u. Keep on doing good work.
Man l just found the same bird outside my house and this is video gonna be very helpful for me
Its cute when you hold it
i found a similar bird in my yard last night and she’s breathing heavy here and there. her wing is exposed, maybe she was attacked or caught?
how do i clean it? bandage? idk what i’m doing but i do have cats outside.
i brought her in my garage she hasn’t really eaten or drank anything, but she managed to fly above me twice out the box.
should i release her or try to clean her wounds?
she was extremely lethargic last night but she’s moving around today.
she’s got some bone or flesh exploded behind the wing (i suppose her scalpels area behind the neck).
same bird too!
someone please advise
