Same story. A year and a half ago I was entrusted with a young spotted dove. I raised her, she came every night to sleep on my head, even as an adult. She went outside when she wanted but always came back to eat, sleep or hatch her eggs. Two days ago she died, killed by a predator. I am also devastated. We do not measure how much happiness these birds give to us.
@@leogircha9625 She laid eggs almost every three weeks. Two eggs each time. Only one was fertilised and it did not come to an end. In all, she had to lay about twenty.
You were good at keeping that dove alive to adulthood. I have White winged dove and she almost died but she is still alive. Ty for keeping that little social l alive.🙂
I am so sorry, Paul! Your dove was adorable and you took so good care ! I rescue pigeons and I can not keep them all... So each time I set them free, I worry a lot!
Very impressed with your raising this little dove. Very very sweet!!! Devastating end indeed! You gave this little dove a life it would have never had. You gave it love and companionship and it loved you too. I’m sorry it all ended this way. But thank you for sharing this. You’ve got a good heart.
You had done an excellent job has a parent and put in a lot of time and effort,-love into this rescue! What a great pity, this happened! He, she would have stayed close to you and home - all of their life. I would have definitely been very emotional too. X
I share the same story (2021). My first saving was as tiny as this one and died being 5 months old. Sad......... I know the feeling. It's like taking care of a butterfly, a friend like no other.
I have a eurasian collard dove female with one wing who I've raised since a baby and these birds form incredible bonds, really. so sorry for your loss.
We rarely know how much somthing mean to us, untill we lose it. Especially animals. We know we love them. But we dont ever know how mutch they really mean, untill they are gone. And i can only imagine how badly it hurt, losing your little friend that way, after caring that much for the little fella. My greatest sympathies mate.
Hi Mate, thanks for the kind words. It was like magic to me that it survived & had I have known I would have kept him as a pet, indoors, not really knowing what would happen puting him outside, there wasn't enough info online & I searched a lot, mainly what to feed him & how to look after etc...
My heart almost stop working when seeing the last moment…shocked! Totally shocked! U r a so warm and nice person, it’s you who give him or her the chance to feel the sun, the air, the love, though short, the beauty of this, you did experience, I did watch and feel, this is the meaning and will pass on.
I have a white winged dove, but since I also raised her by hand she has no predatory awareness. It is important to keep your domesticated animals away from the outside elements just as you would a toy dog or hamster. They can live a relatively long life if kept indoors and safe from predation.
Idk if mine have developed predatory awareness since because we did don’t encounter a cat for a long time but he’s scared of my snake which is a good thing and always perch very high in trees and only go on ground to seek food, I’m trying to avoid interact with my snake in front of him and I don’t have other predatory pet and my chickens help giving him life lessons, but I still keep an eye on him when he’s outside.
I also have a white winged dove that looked like was abandoned so i have taken it and raised it by hand. Currently trying to figure out how to traumatize the bird without hurting it, my dogs are very gentle and dont hurt her, but she will think all dogs are friends now. She likes to ride on their backs or walk with them in the pack on our daily walks.
You did a commendable job on your part. The end was not in your absolute control. In our area, illegal hunting has dangerously endangered this innocent species. There is but one pair left, which I see visiting my feeders. I love listening to their coos when they're around.
awe this is heart breaking .. I am so sorry for your loss. You are a beautiful person for helping this dove and giving it a beautiful life wven though it was short
Oh no!!!!! I am so SO sorry that your dove is gone. You raised him very well and gave him the best life one could ever possibly imagine. You are lucky you got to experience raising your little dove baby! I know he appreciated everything you had done for him. You ensured that he was always in good hands. I learned so much from your video!
Sorry for your loss. I hope you can find comfort knowing you provided that little fella with the best possible alternative to what was in store for him. He had a short but love filled life. I just found one. Momma nested in one of my plants so I would check in on her daily. This morning the nest, mom, and eggs were gone. I found one of the babies on the ground, and a little wing from the other next to the pot. I put the baby back and waited but mom never came back. Your video is giving me so much hope, I had no idea what to do or how to feed it. I gave it kitten formula since it's what I have on hand and just ordered parrot formula that will arrive in two days. I hope I get to experience the joy that you got to experience. HUGS!!!
Hi... Sorry for your loss. I feel the same way as TODAY I just lost the same type of bird which I rescued last Saturday. She has been with me for 5 days & on a rough journey to her recovery. She is wild & bringing her to the Vet on the 3rd day was a mistake. I shd have let her rested & heal & gain strength. Now I know that birds will die if they're too stressed. How on earth the Vet aren't aware of such?!! Anyways... I want to believe that they are in a better place now rather than being a bird. Fly Freely 🕊️
You did a great job , raising the dove . When it was just a baby. I found one I think it is 4 weeks by watching you video , I built a small house for the bird in my room and he flights from one stick to the others , I have in some spots for him to grow strength in his wings now that I have him for two months is time for me to let him go , before weather drops. I start to feel sad but he needs to go back to where he belongs BE FREE. THANKS FOR THE BEAUTIFUL VIDEO .
@anweshakar146 he grew up to be juvenile and strong it's wings were strong I took it outside and it didn't fly away the first I took it back , after 2 months again I took it outside and finally he flew away . It was 7 months old ,healthy and strong . I'm glad he lived with me .

Awe. A beautiful and sad story. I am sorry for your loss. You are a good person. I know how you feel. I also raised an orphan 'white-winged" dove for several days. A storm blew it and its sibling out of a tree nest onto the ground in our yard. the sibling died. we put the baby back in the tree; but the parents never returned. So, we warmed it up, and fed it parakeet formula. My wife raises parakeets. I didn't know the sex of the bird; but he looked like the puppet "Oscar" character on Sesame Street. So I name it "Oscar". After about 3 weeks; Oscar was almost ready to fly on its own. I am an avid Dove Hunter here in TX. Realizing this was a "Migratory game" bird in TX (illegal to possess); we took it to an animal rescue near our home. the rescue place said they would get the bird ready for release. I never saw it again. I was very sad for several days after. I occasionally look at pics and videos I took of it. I just hope he/she made it. : )
For ppl who don't know it yet.... If Pigeons / Doves were raised by humans, they can't be released.... They don't have the right skills for survive, and they lost fear of predators and humans... Ik this, as a Pigeon rescuer and a Pigeon Raiser, the Pigeons that I've lost during a fly, they never make an appear again... The last pigeon that I lost during a Harris Hawk's attack, I only see feathers flying on the wind... It was one of my best pigeons that I ever have... I still remember how she was... Grey like a normal Homming Pigeon, but the end of the wings are white, small white spots on the head and body, she was beautiful...
This exactly! Tho it can be an easy mistake for someone rescuing birds for the first time. If you do want to "release" one again, its best to leave them in an aviary or large cage in the middle of your yard for a few weeks ahead of release so they can get used to other birds and their surroundings. Rescue and release can certainly be done, but you don't want them habituated to people, as tempting as it is to have them do so.
Very sorry to hear that. You gave him such a good life till he was alive. So much great efforts put, and that shows how such a nice good human being you are. God Bless. I think it cannot be another pigeon, may be some big predator like falcon, peregrine etc. Another dove will not kill such a small dove. I may be wrong though.
Sorry mate I know how you feel. Raised 3 of these doves however my first one was attacked by a crow. I was stunned by how sad I was and I still think of her.
Oh that so sad bro. At least you fulfilled and suceeded in helping that young dove reach to young adulthood, rather than the poor bird dying in infancy.
I have also the same dove rescued from dog catch nd he is so sweet always sit on my shoulders, but I m unable to trained him to fly so I could not release him after seeing this I will not release becoz he is not much expert in flying thanks for sharing this..... Sad for ur dove I can understand how much efforts takes to grow a bird baby🥺
I had many pets but bound of a raised animal by our own hands since baby is stronger unique and special, you are like their parent they love you and thrust you way more. Way much better than any pet bought. I don’t get easily attached and i don’t often cry when they dle especially if it’s not a bird, I even had an hamster someone gave me at my door when they moved and kept him until he passed out of old age and I felt *absolutely* *nothing* *at* *all* , but since i raised a bird by hands exactly like this guy, plus the fact that i already have a tiny soft spot for birds while feeling nothing for no aviary animals. raising it as baby kind of triggers my parental instincts and the fact he seems more attached and trustful towards me more than any other birds I love him back because that’s the way I get attached is by giving me a lot of affection and care, he soften my heart more than anyone did and made me more sensitive to things in life in general, just to says it must be worse than losing a pet from petstore or any other domestic animals we are supposed to have because of it being an unique experience and having an animal totally trusting in you. Because personally for me I’m pretty sure it will be harder than any animal I ever had.
My dear best friend just sold his business for 18M. Shortly after he died of cancer. This world sucks; I can't wait to leave; I'm never coming back. I feel like I bought a ticket to Disneyland and I got dropped in the heart of Mexico. The vexation never stops. F**k god!
I rescued 2 little ones. Probably 2 weeks old at this point, not sure. Haven't named them yet either, in part because I haven't decided yet if I will keep them or release them (if they even survive). I feel like once you give them names, then it's pretty much decided that they'll become part of the family. Birds are amazing! So sorry about your little guy.
I share the same story caught a bird with a glue traped and wanted to cherish him and even told the people that lived in the same house to close the door since we have two cats when I came back the bird was eaten under my bed 😭
To feed this dove you can put small grindered rice not powdered in your mouth and the dove will eat away the rice by itself it's so easy to feed this dove while the dove is young and can't eat by them self.
so sad, and please what happened? he got attacked by another bird? i have also little pigeon and im worried he will meet the same fate when i release him. wondering if there is another safer option...
I’m raising a dove right now! She’s awesome! I randomly assigned her a sex-picked female because she’s kind of small, but I actually have no idea. Now I’m very worried about another dove killing her. Did anyone ever give you a clue as to why something like that would happen? It is really strange how this bird has stolen my heart. I’ve never raised a bird before and this is one of the best animal experiences I’ve ever had. Also, where did you get the band that it had on? Was that for your own purpose to identify him amongst the other doves? I’m also worried about the temperature difference between outside and in. I’m raising her inside, of course, where I have a.c. running, while outside it’s over 100º and she hasn’t been acclimated to such heat, and it’s only going to get worse as we get further into summer heat here in the desert.
The other dove that killed mine was being territorial I think as I had just put seeds out on the table. Where I went wrong was trying to reintroduce it to the wild. I should have kept it as a pet, it was very happy perched inside the house, never really wanted to go out & didn’t know how to survive. Also wasn’t scared of humans. The band was from Amazon but they kept falling off but it was to recognise him in later life
You did great.. but this is why In scared of savin birds.. They need their parents to teach thek to survive outside with us even if we save them wed have to keep them as pets inside. I have a couple of doves raising their babies on my fire escape I wanna bring one inside so much when theyre alone😕
Kinda different, but very sad I found is the bird baby dove baby dove and also I gave it to my friend’s cousin and show me his siblings. Cousin siblings stepped on it.😱😢🐦
Approx 1week I watched ur video and I got scared because of how a rescued dove was killed by another. My father found a baby dove on floor, one of his/her brother was killed by the dogs as hey were trying to fly his brother jumped from balcony and got killed, we took the other dove as he was not being feed by his mother(I thought so) 26-27 march was his 1st day in our house , i feed him , he can fly and all that but as one of his leg was dislocated he puts his leg parallel to his tail, he got lack of calcium and vitamins we took him to vet medical, he was ok , got attacked by ants, saved him , he got attack by ants again, we saved him took extra extra care. But yesterday 25 April as Eid was coming we need to wash and clean our house , we took him outside of our kitchen and took him to living room's balcony to give him morning sunlight on 7am , came back from tution my mom told me to don't bring him we r cleaning then I put him under sofa of that same balcony as it has empty space and to protect from predators I and mom checked him several time till 12pm to 1pm , I was playing clash of clans but still giving him some attention, on 2pm my big brother yelled my name and told me to bring water for baby dove , I think he got attack by the adult Dove as no one was seen in CCTV of my stairs and if it was cat he would've eaten him so all I thought of the 2 adult dove who wants to make nest on that same balcony's window from past few weeks , seems they broke his spinal cord as he cant move his feet and wings , he was blinking and moving his neck after lifting and not lifting , i think he was able to me , my mom & my big brother and asking for help , my brother have him our house's water for last time . He was not like other dove he was independent and not like to touched even we cant hand feed him properly, I remember I feed him and gave medicine given by the doctor , At last I buried him in my garden were he was attacked by ants for the first time and now I give them what they want I delete the clash of clans game and took brake from social media *At last I want to tell u guys him your time to ur closest ones cause u don't know when will become ur closest memory*
Omg…😢. Why???? So unfair! You said possibly a “parent” Why would a pArent kill? Sent? I have a little dove my cat caught him I am taking care of him now. I noticed a dove outside my back porch all alone … do you think it may be the mother? It’s so cold -22. I wanted to care for him till the temperature went down. Any suggestions? Once again I am really deeply sorry for your loss you did a wonderful job you’ve got the memory
Eurasian collared dove are aggressive and territorial, even with his own son/daughter. He'll beat him up until we stopped him/save him. That's his nature dude. :(
I didn't understand how it died! It was killed by another dove?? How could it be killed by another dove?? They just have beaks! Here in Brazil I never saw it happen!
Hi sorry to hear this. This method worked for me, It was information I found accross the internet. It needs to be heated up also to about 40 deg c as it normally comes direct from the parents.
But you should've mentioned what type of egg or it was to be heated or not..? Only one dove is left. He is not eating anything. Can you advise what to feed? Cuz I guess his mother left him..
Umm so He can acclimate back into the wild if he wants? Use some thinking skills before leaving a dumb comment on a guys poor video of his deceased birdie
@Baddassbecca on IG How fucking can ironic when you are actually the unthinking one? The poster was ethically at fault for not bringing the dove to a licensed rehabilitator. Raising the dove by himself means that the dove has zero chance to develope any survival skills to actually be released with any chance of surviving in the wild. So he was ethically at fault for releasing an unreleasable dove, this is an empirical fact proven time and time again. Please grow a brain you actually uncritically thinking one you absolute imbecile lmao.
Hard boiled egg blended with water, you can also add some seed in the mix. Microwave 5/10 seconds to 40 deg c so it’s warm.3 to 4 times a day. Good luck
We just found one also, he is flapping his wings now, we think he is about 10 days old today. We got "exact hand feeding formula" by KAYTEE. Any pet store have $10 Is a powder for baby parrots, just add warm water until it gets a little runny. Get a zipbag cut a corner off to make a little hole for him to put his beak inside about 5mm wide. Get a warm paper towel ready because, he will get messi afterwards This is how we saved our little guy. Good luck. Ps: so worry now about letting him go based on this video. Very sad.
What 8ASIMULATORS said, don't give them only eggs. They need proper formula, especially much younger birds who usually would eat "crop milk" that their parents produce in their crops. Also, never feed them by sticking a syringe inside their beak like you would with songbirds, doves suck food up, a unique ability among the species. Use a larger syringe and let them stick their beak into it.

Sorry mate I know how you feel. Raised 3 of these doves however my first one was attacked by a crow. I was stunned by how sad I was and I still think of her.
@@guseva1 same here!
Really sorry for the loss 😢😢😢
Thank you :)
Oh that so sad bro. At least you fulfilled and suceeded in helping that young dove reach to young adulthood, rather than the poor bird dying in infancy.
Cheers Mate!
I have also the same dove rescued from dog catch nd he is so sweet always sit on my shoulders, but I m unable to trained him to fly so I could not release him after seeing this I will not release becoz he is not much expert in flying thanks for sharing this..... Sad for ur dove I can understand how much efforts takes to grow a bird baby🥺
i can feel your pain.🥺
Your amazing ❤
Sorry to hear bro, this was a real cool vid
Ugh. I can't imagine how much that hurt.
Damn, you did him/ her awesome for a life time. 👊
I like that you have beautiful bird you are so lucky Even I have a bird how can I feed himm❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
God bless the Dove from Above!
Amen
R.I.P. I'm caring for one rn. That's very sad.
Sad…. What a twist of fate sometimes this life. Even for animals.
lesson: house animals (specially birds ,,,) may not let free because they do not know any more outside, wild nature life and habitat
Kindly someone please tell me the witch food you use for dove baby because i have also dove baby his mother is passed away thats why i need your help
What r u feeding to her,IV so many pigeon babies n I don't no wat to feed them, just now I'm feeding them with dog biscuits soaked in hot water..

Bhai ek aisa hi baby hai lekin usko pani jaise patli beat ho rahi hai kya du use
What happened? It flew up, and then after a pause of video, some object lying on grass. Is that really the baby pigeon lying dead?
Хорошее начало, но такой грустный конец😭😭😭
Is ok you will new dove soon and don't forget to say goodbye to your dove 🕊️ rip😢
To feed this dove you can put small grindered rice not powdered in your mouth and the dove will eat away the rice by itself it's so easy to feed this dove while the dove is young and can't eat by them self.
Which part r u feeding them egg yolk or the membrane..
It's a hard boiled egg so both, blended with water at 40 deg C.
so sad, and please what happened? he got attacked by another bird? i have also little pigeon and im worried he will meet the same fate when i release him. wondering if there is another safer option...
Hey, Bro, thank you for your heart. Sorry, what the reason of your pet' death?
ΕΙΣΤΑΙ ένας θαυμαστός άνθρωπος, με μεγάλη καρδιά ❤️. Σας κατανοούμε, κάτι παρόμοιο έπαθα και εγώ, με ένα πετριχελιδο
What kind of food to breed?
I have a similar situation. what seeds did you feed him (her)?
I bought mixed bird seed for wild birds. He will pick out his favourite & toss out the ones he doesn't want
The band was from Amazon but they kept falling off but it was to recognise him in later life
Females are slightly smaller with thinner necks, good luck with it!
Peking trening me aapne kya kya diya h
Great job done by u brother i hve also 2 dove child his parents are no more so i m trying my best
I just need some help my baby dove is now too big but still she can't eat by her own (self-feed) how can i make her to eat by herself
What did u feed plz tell my chick's about to hatch
Boiled egg blended with water at 40 deg c
You did great.. but this is why In scared of savin birds.. They need their parents to teach thek to survive outside with us even if we save them wed have to keep them as pets inside. I have a couple of doves raising their babies on my fire escape I wanna bring one inside so much when theyre alone😕
What u gave the baby to eat in liquid pls clarify
There is a formula powder you can mix with water to substitute for "crop milk". One brand is Exact, sold at the big box pet supply stores.
What could possibly happened? Is the dove was shot mid air with a pellet gun?
Yea thats right dickhead.
Kinda different, but very sad I found is the bird baby dove baby dove and also I gave it to my friend’s cousin and show me his siblings. Cousin siblings stepped on it.😱😢🐦
I didn’t understand what was exactly your mean? As you said “flying back to me by another dove” may you clarify that, thanks dear
It was exactly that.
He was not like other dove he was independent and not like to touched even we cant hand feed him properly, I remember I feed him and gave medicine given by the doctor ,
At last I buried him in my garden were he was attacked by ants for the first time and now I give them what they want
I delete the clash of clans game and took brake from social media
*At last I want to tell u guys him your time to ur closest ones cause u don't know when will become ur closest memory*
Omg…😢. Why???? So unfair! You said possibly a “parent”
Why would a pArent kill?
Sent? I have a little dove my cat caught him I am taking care of him now. I noticed a dove outside my back porch all alone … do you think it may be the mother? It’s so cold -22.
I wanted to care for him till the temperature went down.
Any suggestions?
Once again I am really deeply sorry for your loss you did a wonderful job you’ve got the memory
have you ever heard of a word called "Accident"?
Eurasian collared dove are aggressive and territorial, even with his own son/daughter. He'll beat him up until we stopped him/save him. That's his nature dude.
:(
I have a little Bird to
What's the point of putting the sad part? Always keep the best memories!
I didn't understand how it died! It was killed by another dove?? How could it be killed by another dove?? They just have beaks! Here in Brazil I never saw it happen!
Why it died , i don't get it
But I feed my Eurasian collared dove baby same egg and water with syringe but it died!? 😭 Pls reply
@@leehyeri9863 I’m not an expert mate
Why on earth did you let him out in the first place?
Umm so
He can acclimate back into the wild if he wants?
What did u feed the baby i have the same kind of bird
Hard boiled egg blended with water, you can also add some seed in the mix. Microwave 5/10 seconds to 40 deg c so it’s warm.3 to 4 times a day. Good luck
We just found one also, he is flapping his wings now, we think he is about 10 days old today.
We got "exact hand feeding formula" by KAYTEE. Any pet store have $10
Is a powder for baby parrots, just add warm water until it gets a little runny. Get a zipbag cut a corner off to make a little hole for him to put his beak inside about 5mm wide.
Get a warm paper towel ready because, he will get messi afterwards
This is how we saved our little guy.
So sad😢same story for me.
