Every time I watch one of your videos I think "this is 40 minutes no way I will watch the whole thing" but you end up keeping me interested enough to stay every time haha, nice video, keep em coming
No everyone has short attention spans. I like the long ones cause I listen to them to relax or when im sleeping so the longer the better. Also most shows are 22 mins to 45 mins plus when people are doing streaming the longer the streams the more you stream the better. I think people will and they do appreciate longer videos more and more. I get a kick out of the mind set of people complaining about how long a video are. People talking about 30 mins being long lol... I mean it takes 5 mins to get the intro done with what is in the imp.... people need to learn how to focus and appreciate the process. everything is not a rush.
Pennsylvania Pyro Thank you sir, I really appreciated. I was in Wainwright Alberta Canada, we trained with US forces, they were great bunch of guys with amazing weapons and technologies.
The Boss is absolutely adorable! When she ate that whole tortilla piece in one go, I giggled with you. I find your videos so soothing for some reason. They help with my anxiety.
thsies kid is stolden valor,,,, hes should be in jail for thise to,,,, she is wearing a canada army patch and amricin us army shirt. they dont have law againe thises in england?,, wtf
Started watching Steve 1989 a couple days ago entertaining but I ran into your channel yesterday and wow you need a lot more recognition. This is great I have no idea why I enjoy watching you open these MRE's. It feels like you put so much effort into it and letting your daughter taste the food is great and I look forward to it every video. Thanks and keep doing what your doing as I will keep watching. I got to go watch the rest of these super long videos :)
Wow, I read this comment, looked at the clock and it was exactly midnight, but I already began to question what am I doing with my life , about 3 videos ago.
Thanks to you, your daughter and Matt for reviewing Canadian IMP"s. Brings back some "flavourful" memories! Most of our fighting vehicles had "boiling vessels" which cooked up our Rats. When hauling a toboggan we carried a stove. My favourite was to boil up the entree (aka chipotle chicken). add the starch to the entree packet( aka chicken rice) and lay on the spices. The fruit package(aka mango peach) could be added to the mix or saved for later. When we were "tactical" we ate everything cold, when the opportunity availed itself. The sports drink could be hot or cold, depending on the season. Food is the ultimate equalizer, you are what you eat. Thanks again for sharing.
I love how vague it is to write "kiwi dude" on a package to new zealand. like imagine the mail person just glancing at it like "yeah that seems about right"
She is a trooper, to try all of these different foods. I am so happy that you have instilled a sense of adventure in to her life. Cool Beans mom and dad!
Pretty soon the Boss is going to be making her own videos, and dad can give the final critique and send off. My goodness she's gotten so big since the last batch of reviews I watched!
Your daughter is getting so big! She is so cute. I love watching her try the MREs and give her opinion. She is growing up to be quite the connoisseur, and is obviously a daddy's girl :)
if its a scary block type characters, normally its Chinese if its a squiggly rounded and slightly block type character is Korean if it looks simple with a mix of block characters and simple lines, its Japanese
Haven't watched a MRE review in a good 6 months at least and I"m greeted by the infamous black square :P Glad to see you're still doing reviews Kiwi! What a meal :)
I always watch these MRE vids (Steve1989, Gundog and KiwiDude) a bunch in a row until I get so hungry I finally get up, go to the kitchen and cook something good (usually resembling one of the MRE's I watched....lol)
Hey Kiwi and Boss, awesome vid as always! Echo the sentiments of the others, my blood pressure goes down and the world is just a wee bit brighter when watching these, lol. Say, I think the -12- on the package above the Menu # indicates the issue year of the IMP. The contents usually then have later 2011/early 2012 made components inside, etc., as indicated by the individual date codes. Cheers, eh!
I don't know why these videos fascinate me so much, i think it's a combination of the voice, the act of not knowing exactly is in the bag and the discovery of what the food is actually like. Thanks man, it's certainly entertaining :-)
I had the same problem with my Canadian ration.. Somehow I forgot the date code. Lol . The first number is the year and the day after that.. The '12' on the front of the IMP means the year 2012
I'm glad that i watched this after the lunch because it looks delicious...i'd probably feel hungry anytime later simply from watching this. Keep up the good work!
I ate a LOT of these when I was in in the 80's, thats the one thing that always bothered me was no magnesium heater like the yanks had. if we were training with the yanks , i am sure there was more than one rat pack that had its heater pilfered ;). The egg vomlette was always the bane of the breakfast menu, the bacon cheese omlette was ok though
To be honest, I have no idea how I got to your channel, or what from.... but I have been watching your video's every night since. They don't make me hungry, and even the vintage ones give me no feelings (good or bad) in my tummy.... and I still have no idea why I'm here, but I just keep watching. I love them, though. Keep making 'em for the rest of time.
it is.. but people also like to seperate them for taste testing purposes.. and thats what this video was.. a taste test.. also he mixes it with the tortilla which is just as good imo lol
The sound of the Boss eating, and the expression following, was such a nice treat..Being From Nova Scotia, Canada...Was such a fun time watching her enjoy...Thank you!!
Depends on which one you get for how it tastes.... I can't find a way to make as good of Chili Mac as the US MRE Chili Mac from my days in the service...
I look at my sub box and see the same video I watch 3 hours ago, was giving up hope on another video being uploaded in the next hour but I then see a video from Kiwi Dude. Great Review! ;)
I have that exact same Canadian shoulder flash at the start. I sewn it to my backpack Here’s my opinion on Canadian imps: First thing is that the imps looks more fun and the Canadian one has more whole foods like whole pieces of chicken while the us it’s more ground up and stuff
Canadian rations look to be amongst the best ! I think good food is very important for moral, so well done Canada !! I wonder if he ever sent off the feedback form ?
At 1st she seemed not sure about it. I think because she put to much in her mouth but by the end she seemed to be enjoying it, going for more on her own accord. I bet those large chunks were on the dry side if not broken up some.
The reason there is no heating in it, all platoons have 2 pressure cookers. What my unit did was open all our IMPs before leaving barracks to take out the main entree, then taping them back up then 15 min before meal times someone cooks 20ish packs per cooker for the platoon.
As a Canadian, quite liked this one. However, it's always baffled me how alot of these rations have items made in other countries and always wondered why. In the time of war, its not like say..your at war with China and they will keep making your MILITARY ration items, and so forth. Before watching you and a couple others, I assumed every item was of country of origin, yet have been proven bafflingly wrong.
Hey you never know, we might find out the United States is stealing our delicious delicious maple syrup and must be AVENGED! hehe, well..at least there i can sorta understand but still, these meals are for your military and I just assumed the meals were purely made in country.
Can confirm when we open a box of rations in Canada (I serve) the bottom of the box has a bunch of heater bags and the best way to heat it is take the bag wrap it around the food and stuff it back in the box
The US wouldn't have that rice in an MRE because it isn't ready to eat. Unlike most armies, the US soldier doesn't get an issue stove on which he can boil water. Canadians do, and that's why the entree bag is boilable. Good work as always, KD. My best to the Boss.
rob duarte dude there's wars constantly going Canada helped in wars important ones too they're still warring to this day dumbass America can't battle alone we pick up the shit they leave
Our military does not suck. Do your research. The Canadian Armed Forces is very well trained and we excel in a lot of fields because where we lack in technology and a large amount of soldiers, we make up for in extremely good training. Also we have a lot more then 2 bases, we have 38 to be exact. So no our army is does not suck and it is good for a country our size.
Peter Bot I just heard it from my friends, maybe I should have done more research. Btw, do you have a link page with all bases I wanna see :3 sorry for being rude
no hook private slip on before they're in training. is what that cadpat material was. we wear them on our chest. usually it will display your rank once you've earned a rank.
why are there cuts in the video while hes eating the chicken? Does he cut out because he doesnt like it and pretends he likes it? no offense kiwi dude, might be lagging or somthing but I always wondered.
FYI: We do have flameless ration heaters, but they are issued separately as many personnel have access to a Coleman naphtha 2-burner stove to heat their food (especially in winter). This cuts down on waste of the heater packs. They're also designed for the width of our entree packs. Also, I made mention of this on gundog4314's channel, but here's a pro tip for the rice or instant potatoes: fold the foil pouch at the fill line. This will score the inside of the pouch so you can easily add the correct amount of water. Then give rice a stir before letting stand. As you saw the seasoning usually settles out to the bottom. (I've eaten waaaay too many of these over the last 20+ years)
Canada has flameless ration heaters but they are issued separately. The Canadian army uses Coleman naptha camping stoves, so ration heaters are not usually needed.
I subscribed a week or more ago but I think it was on a 2014 video as I usually like to go back to the beginning and move forward. I am enjoying the videos very much and I am sure your other children are just as beautiful as the boss. :-)
It seems like she is growing up more in every video, you have a beautiful daughter and I am glad mommy lets her be in the videos. lol. keep up the great work with the videos.
Glad you enjoyed what I've lived on for weeks to months lol. We tend to get adventurous with these and add spices or hot sauces from home. I usually throw the rice or soup or mashed potatoes in with the juicy sauce of the entre. Nice to see your daughter munch away on these :D Let me know if you want to try something else, Have a good one eh!
Every time I watch one of your videos I think "this is 40 minutes no way I will watch the whole thing" but you end up keeping me interested enough to stay every time haha, nice video, keep em coming
+Squirmy Whale I was surprised myself when I saw how long this had grown to. Glad you enjoyed it ;-)
No everyone has short attention spans. I like the long ones cause I listen to them to relax or when im sleeping so the longer the better. Also most shows are 22 mins to 45 mins plus when people are doing streaming the longer the streams the more you stream the better. IMP brings back so many memories. I am glad you and your daughter enjoyed the IMP. Respect from a Canadian forces member.
Even though I am American, thank you very much for your service.
Pennsylvania Pyro Thank you sir, I really appreciated. I was in Wainwright Alberta Canada, we trained with US forces, they were great bunch of guys with amazing weapons and technologies.
Yeah wainwright AB! Represent!
what do you within our military I'm 16 joining reserves soon
going to join the Canadian army after i'm done with school, I am looking forward to it ^_^
The Boss is absolutely adorable! When she ate that whole tortilla piece in one go, I giggled with you. I find your videos so soothing for some reason. They help with my anxiety.
+Kat its called asmr, look it up.
Soothing doesn't necessarily mean tingles, but I'm always happy to see the community grow lol.
thsies kid is stolden valor,,,, hes should be in jail for thise to,,,, she is wearing a canada army patch and amricin us army shirt. they dont have law againe thises in england?,, wtf

Nahhh I would know😂
はい。あなたは正しいです。but, they all used hanzi at some point in time.
Haven't watched a MRE review in a good 6 months at least and I"m greeted by the infamous black square :P Glad to see you're still doing reviews Kiwi! What a meal :)
+galliman123 Cheers! We really enjoyed this one.
You lucky Kiwi, what a gorgeous little girl you have.
Best of both worlds as it seems
I always watch these MRE vids (Steve1989, Gundog and KiwiDude) a bunch in a row until I get so hungry I finally get up, go to the kitchen and cook something good (usually resembling one of the MRE's I watched....lol)

+TheMatthan Cheers mate! Sorry about the delay.

AHHHH PUT THE RICE WITH THE CHICKEN AHHHHHHHHHH
I did that the first time I watched this, too. I had to shut off the video before I punched my phone 😂😂
I don't know why these videos fascinate me so much, i think it's a combination of the voice, the act of not knowing exactly is in the bag and the discovery of what the food is actually like. Thanks man, it's certainly entertaining :-)
does anyone else eat while watching these ?
+Freddy Fazbear Me with my midnight snackage, every time. I want KFC chips now!
Am eating ice cream right now, but now am hungry lol

Always love your reviews! And, of course, Miss Crystal is getting bigger by the minute! Keep 'em coming, my friend! Thanks for making them!
+bellaxfatal Thank you. She's getting big indeed, outgrowing clothes as fast as we buy them!
Fill lines...here's what you do:
Fold the packet before opening at the fill line. That will put a crease on the inside.
Open and proceed.
Clarity. Fold AT fill line, don't open there, eh?
+achtungcircus it's a cleshay... we don't say "eh" after evetything!
+Kirja 13579!! Nor do we always have snow
+SomeDerpy Gamer but maple syrup isn't false

+Lana von Dalek Welcome to the channel!
She is definitely one brave soldier taste testing the mre. Im sure most kids wouldn't dare take a bite.
Kiwi, watching you being so amused by our rations has been amazingly entertaining. I may have to send you something myself :)
Kraft Dinner might as well be a Canadian ration.
Haha so true
+Kastrenzo74 only if it included Katsup to drizzle onto it. Lol
+David Gardner And hotdogs.
+Kastrenzo74 It's already dry and all but needs preparation :P
+Kastrenzo74 It used to be.
i love watching the way you go through the german mre it kept me giggling keep the vids coming
"This dish could still use a bit more kick" says Kiwi Dude when he's referring to a chipotle-seasoned dish to which he added hot sauce and pepper
Lol when you zoomed in, I nearly smell my screen and trying to eat it.
The boss is really diggin it.
Chinese in a Canadian Ration? Did they buy that in T&T?
+Ruby Chen Canada, where the rations come form as many nations as the population.
They just buy what is around at the right price and put it in the IMP. Next batch could have tea from Germany.
I've this a few times in the field, the trick is to dump the rice into the chicken, it turns it into an awesome stew!
having had that exact meal, it's actually one of the best rations
Loved the review! your videos are so well done, And The Boss is a great added bonus. :)
Hello from Canada
Greetings from New Zealand.
Hello watched a bunch of your MRE vids. Keep them coming.
ontarioman100 HELLO FROM THE OTHER SIDE!!!!!!
ontarioman100 what does IMP stand for?
JemGaming idiot can't move properly lol
about to pull the trigger on 16 MRE meals hope I enjoy em lol....gonna use em for camping/fishing/hunting!!!! Keep the vids coming!
I have a feeling the chicken packet was meant to be poured over the rice like a chicken curry.
it is.. but people also like to seperate them for taste testing purposes.. and thats what this video was.. a taste test.. also he mixes it with the tortilla which is just as good imo lol
Fun posting. I like when your daughter finishes the review. What a little sweet heart. God bless.
"Just a touch.." Then puts the whole thing of hot sauce in. LOL
+Melanie Tarver Can't get enough of the hot sauce ;-)
Great review as always, keep em' coming. Peace, magnum, John.
Oh, that looks _so good_. Glad that our armed forces gets good eats.
+infinitecanadian Love these Candian IMP's :-)
+Kiwi Dude They all taste like aluminum. Trust me. But yes, i can't complain after seeing other nation's IMP's.
+Brandon Davidson I think hands down Canadians have one of the best ration packs in the world. I have one definitely experienced it in the field.
+infinitecanadian I always feel bad for soldiers who gets the worst military foods.
after a week they are kinda gross lol but it could be worst
Your kid is awesome. Great video, I've subscribed all the way in Canada.
YOUR DAUGHTER IS SO CUTE IM SUBBING GREAT REVEIW LOVE MRE VIDS
Welcome to the channel!
+Kiwi Dude you were playing with the food so I just went to go eat breakfast
Kiwi Dude this is my first vid and it is amazing I am subing
I definitely enjoy your MRE videos, and having your daughter (aka "the boss") try them at the end just tops the Adorability scale! Well done!
the us flame less heat is worthless. it gets hot fast then cools fast. not enough time to effectively cook your meal.
The sound of the Boss eating, and the expression following, was such a nice treat..Being From Nova Scotia, Canada...Was such a fun time watching her enjoy...Thank you!!
Cheers!
since your from nova Scotia do you know of the show name haven cause it was filmed there
James Baird I live in Nova Scotia right now but wasn't born here.
Canada doesn't border North America it is in North America
Maybe he meant north America, as in Northern USA.
+MissTam2000 possibly
its not part of America tho. Canada is not in the US either.
+LordRaidenn
It is a part of North America wtf?!
North America is a continent, South America( Also a continent) includes mexico. The United States of America is what people consider america
In about another 8 to 10 years, she is going to be doing her own videos and having you taste test at the end!
future MREs should have the edible spoon.
edible containers. lol
Loll!!!
Angelo Dato it might be funny but it's genius!
Imagine you accidentally ate the spoon first and you have to use your hands
Vicious Kicks LOL
kiwi dude i tried it and it taste really good your gonna love it
I've always wanted to try an MRE it looks fun and good lol
They are fun... But tasting good? They don't excel at that.
MRE and this technically different, but I loved certain MREs, would not recommend getting vegetarian if you ever find an MRE...
Depends on which one you get for how it tastes.... I can't find a way to make as good of Chili Mac as the US MRE Chili Mac from my days in the service...
Mimi Thomas what do the different abbreviations stand for? I know MRE, but what about the others like IMP?
JemGaming No clue
I look at my sub box and see the same video I watch 3 hours ago, was giving up hope on another video being uploaded in the next hour but I then see a video from Kiwi Dude. Great Review! ;)
+Michael “Mc4nb2016” Crisci Glad you enjoyed it!
man the boss is growing fast "O.O"
+parnmkie She sure is!
I have that exact same Canadian shoulder flash at the start. I sewn it to my backpack
Here’s my opinion on Canadian imps:
First thing is that the imps looks more fun and the Canadian one has more whole foods like whole pieces of chicken while the us it’s more ground up and stuff
eating hot pockets watching this. his food is deff better than hot pockets
Canadian rations look to be amongst the best ! I think good food is very important for moral, so well done Canada !! I wonder if he ever sent off the feedback form ?
pool girl i can already see her not enjoying the meal... lovely kid though
hahaah
At 1st she seemed not sure about it. I think because she put to much in her mouth but by the end she seemed to be enjoying it, going for more on her own accord. I bet those large chunks were on the dry side if not broken up some.
The Boss is adorable! and brave! Kudos Kiwi Dude great review!
Cheers!
I wish you tried a poutine IMP!
It's horrible haha
Atleast the ones I got.
+Fred Fleurant poutine is delicious. Depends where you get it from
Xtiik got mine during my infantry course....
Nice addition by adding the child. Great video, thank you.
the thing you were calling gum is actually laxative
No it's not. That's a rumor, it's actually just gum.
+Paige Harville its gum indeed lol
The reason there is no heating in it, all platoons have 2 pressure cookers. What my unit did was open all our IMPs before leaving barracks to take out the main entree, then taping them back up then 15 min before meal times someone cooks 20ish packs per cooker for the platoon.

+Tom Ethridge Cheers Tom.
It missing maple syrup. Lol
Can confirm when we open a box of rations in Canada (I serve) the bottom of the box has a bunch of heater bags and the best way to heat it is take the bag wrap it around the food and stuff it back in the box
it probably was chinese, there are lots of chinese people in canada!
+eagleone But it really was Chinese tho and there really are a lot of Chinese people in Canada tho...
+eagleone But it really was Chinese tho and there really are a lot of Chinese people in Canada tho...
wooh! Chinese people of Canada!!
***** depends on ur definition of "a lot" xD
+Varun Dewan Also depends on where you're looking. Vancouver's got a pretty sizable Chinese (and East Asian in general!) population.
The US wouldn't have that rice in an MRE because it isn't ready to eat. Unlike most armies, the US soldier doesn't get an issue stove on which he can boil water. Canadians do, and that's why the entree bag is boilable. Good work as always, KD. My best to the Boss.
anyone else wondering why Canada has a military?
To clean up the shit US starts lol
rob duarte dude there's wars constantly going Canada helped in wars important ones too they're still warring to this day dumbass America can't battle alone we pick up the shit they leave
rob duarte Im Canadian and I agree, our army sucks we got only like 2 military bases XD

+Chrisi W Good point :-)
i have diabetes since i'm 3 years old and just so tired of hearing this :D sorry
+Chrisi W true, but we have to be a lil careful :p
Lock Down
thats right :)
why are there cuts in the video while hes eating the chicken? Does he cut out because he doesnt like it and pretends he likes it? no offense kiwi dude, might be lagging or somthing but I always wondered.
I love that you bring your little girl into your hobby! She's very cute. I'm glad I stumbled on to your vids, Kiwi Dude. Keep up the good work!
+Jasmine Peen Thank you. We have a ball making the videos. Glad you're enjoying them :-)

Ask about putting the fill lines inside the package on the quality check card.
Love the Boss' reactions. She isn't afraid of any spice hahaha!!!
I was a Royal Canadian Sea Cadet growing up I remember these fondly as we used to eat them often on our excursions
That "rock or something" gets me the giggles everytime.
+THEFUTURE259 Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed what I've lived on for weeks to months lol. We tend to get adventurous with these and add spices or hot sauces from home.
I usually throw the rice or soup or mashed potatoes in with the juicy sauce of the entre.
Nice to see your daughter munch away on these :D
Let me know if you want to try something else,
Have a good one eh!
So very Canadian, having that feedback slip for soldiers. As a US citizen, I mean that with the utmost sincerity. It's actually really awesome.
